- Happy Fretless Friday! Is this an original tune, or am I a song thief with a bad memory? My guess is a little of both. Pardon my extra sloppy playing today- my brain is a bit fried at the moment. I thought doing a nice restful crochet project would be a good break from my shed renovation, but I am now engaged in the fight of my life with another crochet sweater. But we will not fret about that now, for it is Friday! Hope yall have a great day, and let me know what I should call this song!

Whether you live on a farm or in a suburb, in southern California or in southern Appalachia, country is an attitude and a state of mind. Anyone who plays banjo, crochets, and hangs out with the chickens is in a country state of mind in my opinion!

Just had a really crap day at work, then with my narcissistic family. So I came here for Dr. Phoebe's lightness of heart and cheerful disposition...and banjo playing. Who can feel negative when listening to banjo? Not me! ❤
Yes, if Titanic’s orchestra had played “Nearer my God to Thee” on banjos it might have made the the whole sinking thing less ominous.

I like the tune. It has a traditional feel to it. It sounds like someone who knows the banjo well wrote it to get the most from the instrument. It is very pretty.
The hen is doing her dance to the music. Chickens are wonderful creatures.
The chicken peckn’ on the ground and digging in the dirt… You really can’t get much more Farm than that…. You’ve got the atmosphere all handled and add in the banjo… you nailed Americana!

This is not my favorite music, which is worlds away. But I like and enjoy this music. Banjo music, played in the back yard, with chickens scratching is OUR music. Country, Jazz, Bluegrass, Blues, Ragtime, Stride- it’s music with openness, movement, longing, a lot of it contains the rhythm of steel wheels on steel rails. It makes me content.

As a fellow song thief with a bad memory... If you can't remember what song it came from, you're probably filling in enough of it with of your own tune to call it your own.
