Arguably the greatest network anomaly in television history. Of course, the network suits who knew better eventually said, "This isn't what the people want." A show like this will never happen again. They say that's "progress."
As many times as l have watched this. I'm just as gobsmacked as Marcus Miller. Jeff once spoke to me at his gig in Leeds. After he played see the light. I was going nuts at the front. 18 years old.
Phenomenal show all around. The Jeff Healy tune was crazy tight. Omar always looks like he's having fun, but he and Marcus were clearly having a blast jamming that one.
Night Music was the greatest music program ever aired. you could argue, but you would be wrong. it's a damn shame music rights have kept this from streaming anywhere
What can you say? So much talent in one place singing and playing the finest music. This was the best episode of the entire series in my opinion. Jeff Healey just blew me away! Dr. John and Mavis Staples were great, as expected. The dueling pianos-fabulous. The Sunday Night Band-just superb. My only regret is that the show had to end!
These shows are epic! All the musicians are extraordinary. Give some special love to the great Omar Hakim on drums; there is nothing that he cannot play!
Fabulous sounds...Dr. John is doing it justice here...along with Marcus Miller and the house band...wow!!! waiting on Mavis Staples....gotta hear her....
The first time I'd heard of or seen Jeff Healy was in the movie Roadhouse. I don't know how to explain it other than his playing HIT me! I was so overwhelmed that I just broke down crying. I only hope that he's alive and well... and still playing..
I used to watch this show and this was my absolute favorite episode! I still have it on a VCR tape somewhere in the attic along with my Philippe Saisse and David Sanborn albums. :-)
The funniest thing was Marcus checking out Jeff's playing WHILE doing that amazing bassline. Then , Marcus does a slap run at Jeff's signal and leaves Jeff grinning from ear to ear.
I remember this song while growing up and it is fantastic..what a performance and great entertainment..Everybody did professionally on this ..Dr John is a legend..rhythem is so very good and terrific sound..

I consider myself lucky to have seen all of this episode's guests except for the Doctor. RIP, Mac.
There is something surreal about watching Jeff Healy.

Mavis has one of the most beautiful smiles. There is so much love there. And she sing pretty dang good too :)
The Jeff Healey bit was the whole thing for me. It was INTENSE.

Damn Jeff Healeys playing and voice made the hairs on my arm stand up! No faking the goosebump factor.

When musicians were musicians!
What an AMAZING houseband!
One of my absolute favorite TV shows from 1989, I used to watch it religiously
One of my favorites so far. Jeff Healy pulling out all the stops. The piano boogie was fantastic, too! Too much!

Jeff Healey was such a great player. It's a shame he died so young.
left us all too soon - early tape of a great player -R.I.P.!

You don’t see shows like this on TV anymore that’s for sure. 1988…good times.

Jeff is great... but look at what Marcus Miller is doing. The guy is a beast!!
The funniest thing was Marcus checking out Jeff's playing WHILE doing that amazing bassline. Then , Marcus does a slap run at Jeff's signal and leaves Jeff grinning from ear to ear.
The two of them (Marcus and Jeff) 2gether are so good. It’s like next gen Albert King.
SIIIIIICK groove behind Jeff Healey
