      🤯EVERYONE please please PLEASE!!! 🤯Go and watch - A Story About Tourism Industry in Oaxaca, Mexico by the TH-camr Bianca Graulau.
      The video has 1M Views and it talks the extreme inequality and hardship the locals suffer as a direct result of tourism in Oaxaca!!
      Many locals and the staff in your hotel go weeks without running water because it given to the tourist in the hotels and taken away from the locals.
      Many local can only bathe with wet wipes , they cant flush their toilets.
      The wages of the workers are so low that they can't afford their basic needs.
      Locals are suffering
      Truly heartbreaking

    You've really sold on Oaxaca. Food capital of Mexico. Yes, please! It's so peaceful there, too. Definitely pinned Hacienda Santa Martha to our board.

    One of the best things about watching travel vlogs is getting restaurant recommendations! And I particularly love when those recommendations are away from the general tourist areas, simply because outsiders rarely go there. I mean, not many people go as far north of Oaxaca Centro as where Hacienda Santa Marta is. That was really great to see, so thanks! I've been marking all of the restaurant recs from your México vlogs on my Google maps. 😊

    Mezcal Margaritas are the best! I had a few when I was in Oaxaca in 2021 - smokey, sweet and amazing!

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      They're so good!! I didn't expect to like the smoky with the fruity taste of a margarita but it works so well! Especially with a bit a of Tajin on the rim. :)

    Love your filming skills guys: stellar job getting high quality image in all kinds of places, lighting, etc. Gorgeous!
    An unnecessary comment but a funny one is that “pan con madre” literally translates as “bread with mother” but that’s not what it means. “Con madre” is an expression originally from northern Mexico to qualify something as reeeaaally goooood, as top notch.
    Sorry that you couldn’t find the best food in Oaxaca… if you are still there a few recommendations: leche quemada and tuna ice cream, tlayudas, enchiladas de mole amarillo, empanadas de queso con flor de calabaza y mole amarillo. Oaxaca is famous for its chocolate: there is a mill where you can go and make your own mix and have a dozens of chocolate bars made for you to prepare your own hot cocoa. Tamales oaxaqueños are different to tamales everywhere else in the country and are soo good. Best food is usually found in small stands (not so much in restaurants) or traditional markets. Oaxaca is famous for its arts & crafts: textiles, embroidered clothes, alebrijes, pottery… every town is known for a different craft so it is great to visit small villages to seeing each. If you are on your way to the coast, San José del Pacifico is a gorgeous town with incredible views high in the mountains. I am going to stop here cause you might not be there anymore so maybe all of this is useless. Don’t hesitate to ask the locals whats best to see and do… we locals do it all the time and follow the most passionate recommendation we get 😂. Happy travels!

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you so much for these recommendations!! :) You have no idea how helpful this is! Recommendations from locals are by far our favorite to follow. 😀 Also, thank you for telling what "con madre" means! I had no idea and now I love that expression.

    We really liked staying at that campground. A little expensive for 5 people but we still stayed for 2 weeks. We make a lot of Mexican-inspired Shakshuka for breakfast. I believe it's originally from Tunisia.

    I really like the scene at the end where you're sliding down the slide and commenting that you will burn your butt if it's too hot.
    Then, it pans to an aerial view of a huge plume of smoke.

    when you use a tortilla to eat the meat, you created basically a taco. You usually put some sauce on it, red sauce or guacamole, you can add veggies, there are smoked spring onions (cebollines) and I like my meat taco wiht those.
    That taco was definitely missing flavour :D

      Hey! The truck part JUST arrived and we're waiting for the mechanic to make time for us later this week. Our house in TN was perfectly fine thankfully. We got about 7" of rain in 24 hours and a few trees down in the neighborhood, but nothing compared to Asheville and further east TN. Thank you for checking!

    Chile en nogada is sweet is typical in independence day is from puebla .
    About traditional oaxaca food are moles, tlayudas, caldo de piedra, etc. Here in oaxaca is common to eat tasajo, chorizo, carne enchilada (carne asada) with sauce and vegetables like onion, radishes,etc. Santa martha is a restaurant with many plates some of them are not from oaxaca. This restaurant was better 10 years ago.
