Thank you for the wonderful summer reading vlog! I really enjoyed seeing the places you visited especially the beautiful garden. I wish I could go there! I liked the book shop too and I’m glad you got a lot of books. I’m adding all the books you mentioned to my tbr reading list. I can’t wait for fall though as it’s my favorite time of year too
This is so calming and aesthetically pleasing! 🤎Oh my, I love the Harper Muse Classic Painted Editions ...I've got 4 of them and hope they're gonna make more of them. And yes, Autumn, please! Got me some spooky books and a cute little ghost mug lately ..just to pretend 🎃
This was so lovely. I've just recently found your channel and I love it. The scenery was exquisite and I love how you describe the books. I can't wait to read The God of the Woods!
❤📚☀️❤️ This was such a lovely video!! Thank you for your calm presence, book reviews, and beautiful inserted clips!! Edit: Anne's story is amazing. The original PBS version of the show has been watched numerous times in our home!!
Hello Alice! Just finished that Valerie Perrin book, "Forgotten on Sunday", with my bookish friends in a cozy getaway and I liked it so much! Even more than the "Fresh Water for Flowers". Hope you like it as well
I watched this video and looked up several at my library. What You Are Looking For Is In The Library by Michiko Aoyama was available immediately so I borrowed it, read it and loved it. I found it soothing ... and more
Hi Alice I really enjoyed this Reading Vlog and the places you went to. Very lovely. What are you going back to school for? I love Anne Of Green Gables. It’s one of my favorite books. Take Care & Happy Reading ❤️🤗🔰📖📚❤️
The God of the Woods sounds really interesting! When I was young, I used to go to a Christian summer camp called Forrest Home in the mountains of Southern California each summer. The first summer I went I got sick and threw up. One summer there was a big storm and we got trapped in the campground for a bit longer cuz water came up too high around the bridge that lead to the main road. Another summer an orphan boy sadly drowned in the lake cuz he didnt know how to swim and went out too far. And another summer I accidentally put my wrist through a glass pane in a door to push the door open, and cut my wrist. So crazy things do happen at camp in the woods. That all sounds pretty bad now that I think of it, but I still liked summer camp. I am eager to read this book too!
I'm so happy you liked Anne of Green Gables! I listened to 70% of the book on TH-cam (the other 30% as ebook from the library) during a heatwave and working at the same time, it was a great experience. Originally I wanted to read the book, because one of the hosts of the podcast I like (Books Unbound) went on an Anne of Green Gables themed trip. But now I can see myself coming back to the book and if I find a pretty edition for cheap I will probably buy it and add it to my collection. Do you think you will be reading more books from L.M Montgomery? Personally I have been looking for The Blue Castle in second hand shops, but no luck yet.
I read The God of the Woods last weekend and it's definitely one of my reads of 2024. I'm a bit jealous the English language international editions are in paperback. In the U.S. most editions are hardcover for one to two years after publication. They are so expensive! However, splurging on The God of the Woods was worth it!
I loved this, Alice! Hearing about all these books and seeing all the beautiful places you went to around Oslo was exactly the kind of thing I needed today. Thanks! I completely agree with you about Liz Moore. I read Long Bright River by her, and it was described as a police procedural, which it is, but it's also so much more. I enjoy her writing and the way that, though there is plot, it's much more character-focused.
I’ve been seeing The God of the Woods & intrigued by it…now I must add it to my TBR! Loved seeing the garden as well…perfectly aligned to your aesthetic!!
Beautiful footage! I also enjoy The God of the Woods. Have you tried Chris Whitaker’s books yet? They give me similar vibes because they are literary-leaning mystery/suspense novels with incredibly well-written characters and great atmosphere. I highly recommend All the Colors of the Dark, his recent release, and We Begin at the End. You can’t go wrong with either.
oh my that garden looked so DREAMY!! I finished The God of the Woods recently and i loved the writing!! it was definitely really good summer vibes. what other books by that author would you recommend? i didn't even think to check out more of her work Anne of Green Gables is sooo good, i really recommend L. M. Montgomery's other book "The Blue Castle". it's quite short and more of an adult book (bonus it also has some BEAUTIFUL editions :P )
It was sooo beautiful!! Hoping to go back there in fall 🥰 I would recommend Long Bright River and The Unseen World 😃 I’ll add The Blue Castle to my TBR!
Same re Alex Michaelides. I've always enjoyed his books but there has been something about every one of them that just didn't hit , like something was missing. I also always guess the endings of his books. The gardens were beautiful ! Thank you for sharing :)
Adding the god of the woods to my never ending tbr 😂 I grew up watching Anne of Green gables but never got to read it. Since my niece loves reading, I got her the first one and she was like this is waaay to big for me. I told her to just start to see if she likes it. She's now reading the 3rd one and she loves it!
Oh, Alice! I absolutely LOVED and ENJOYED this vide SO MUCH!! Thank you for taking us on some of your adventures while on vacation😁 What gorgeous gardens! I couldn't always tell, was that you you walking in all the gardes? I knew it was you reading Anne Of Green Gables, obvious. Many, many yrs. ago; my husband took our family to Prince Edward Island, specifically because the girls and I had read every bk. in the series. WOW! What a special place!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the book. Definitely a re-read. Once again, wrote down some recommendations to add to my "100's of TBR/Recommend Lists". Literally. They are 12" long by maybe 5". I think I have the bk. God of The Woods on my list??? If not it is now! When a bk. is a 5 star for me, I always have a hard time describing it also. Esp. in my Book Journal which only allows a tiny description space 😑 Also, after a 5 star, I can't start another bk. right away. Have to SAVOR it for AT LEAST a day! Like w/ theDAYS AT THE MORISAKI BOOK STORE! Still thinking about that book! I can't be trusted in a Bookshop either! Or with a Book Catalog, or on line bookstores, or the "Sales Room" at the library or ANY library! It's really bad; I have about 300+ unread bks. in my tiny apt! I will be SO HAPPY to see AUGUST/ SUMMER GONE! I have not enjoyed it at all. Between surgery in June (true nightmare in hospital AND Rehab (almost 3 wks. together, twice almost killed me in hosp. and numerous times in Rehab. I am Type1 diabetic) After I came home had to learn a NEW insulin pump while still on drugs! Having nightmares from both places, was traumatic! STILL in pretty bad pain and now go to outside P.T. There was more, but skipped it. It was SO HOT and HUMID, obviously went nowhere.😑 Fall is my FAVORITE season, like you. Yesterday I was so fed up with it all I took out my FALL mugs and teacups. The bldgs, gardens and Palace, museums were so GREAT to see! Does Norway have a King or Queen? Sorry this is sooooo long Alice, but you video was OUTSTANDING! 🤗🤗
I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Chlorine when you get around to it! I had a pretty complicated relationship with the book during my read of it and haven't seen anyone else talk about it.
It was such a lovely vlog! I don’t know if I should thank you or not since I will be spending more money on books 😂😂 I’m finishing Aesthetica by Allie Rowbottom as we speak but a little bird told me I might start The god of the woods right after! 😍🦌🌳
What a beautiful video, thank you Alice for sharing some of your time and city with us. I haven’t read any of Michaelides’ books yet, but I believe they are all on my want to read lists. I’m like you where I’ll hear of a book, want to read it, maybe even get it, and then it sits for awhile. Sometimes a long while😊. I think it would be a great vacation memory to buy a much wanted book and then sit down and read it immediately.
We are having Fall weather this week I’m so excited! It’s like 40s/50s at night and 60s/70s during the day so nice and it’s making me want to read witchy, thriller, cozy mystery, type of Fall reads
Most of the books in bookstores here are Norwegian, but the ones here in Oslo usually also has a good English section! The one I went to is really big so it has books in loads of languages 🥰
The Fury was so pretentious to me. I liked the beginning and then it went downhill so fast. I didn't care about what happen to the characters and honestly except for the MC no one else is memorable. It felt like a book trying to he more clever then it was. And yes it spoils his other books but gives away the ending to Silent Patient. Loved this vlog. Seeing all the shots of Norway was beautiful. It makes me want to travel but since I can't right now, it's so nice to see you sharing your hometown. I really want to read God of the Woods. Hope you do another reading vlog again soon.
Absolutely gorgeous video, Alice! Those gardens are breathtaking 🌿🍃🌳I adore AOGG 🤍 . The Netflix series is done well too, and usually I’m not in to TV adaptations.
@@TheBookCastle do it! It became one of my favorite shows ever. But just be aware that they did discontinue it before finishing the stories so that is sad. But the seasons they have are amazing.
You looked like a statue come to life walking around those gardens! Gorgeous!!
Wow, thank you! 🥰
This is such a lovely and apt comment!
This looks like you had such a gorgeous and wonderful time!
The Valérie Perrin you picked Is REALLY good! Enjoy 😊
Yay, happy to hear that!! ❤️
Wow - What beautiful pictures!! ⛲️

The fury author - it’s okay to like someone writing style and not like the way they format a story
