If you haven't already, you should totally read "When I sing, mountains dance". You read snippets of life of all the living things that have inhabitated a little village in the Pirenei mountains and it has everything you could love: ghosts, nature, murder and love.

I was so glad to hear that I’m not the only one who feels embarrassed trying to speak the language I’m learning. I’m learning Spanish so I’m going to look into the sponsor you mentioned. Thank you!

Based on your favorite book so far and focus on nature books, I think you'd really like The Overstory by Richard Powers. It won a Pulitzer, and is about people lives and how they revolve around trees.

Oh no...I'm about to buy so many books thanks to you! But all is forgiven because I am OBSESSED with your videos. I'll be visiting Italy for the first time in just 20 days and your content is getting me even more excited and inspired. I plan to take Elena Ferrante's second Neapolitan novel with me. Happy autumn, Quirine!🥰

Recommendation if you like Clarice Lispector : The imitation of the rose, short story collection ❤ I enjoyed north woods too and really want to get to my brilliant friend ( I will eventually 😂 I keep getting distracted) but I hear you when you say you forget books easily , I do think that too and then if someone just starts briefly talking about the plot it will all come back at once so don’t worry ! Thank you for your recommendations

I just finished the last book in the My Brilliant Friend series and it might be my favorite series of all times! It is soooo good!
Elena Ferrante is actually a pen name and we don't know who wrote it, which I feel like actually adds to the mistery of this book...

i fully thought north woods was a dad novel too but you've 100% convinced me to pick it up!!
if you like immersive fantasy, i highly highly highly recommend Robin Hobb if you haven't read her yet. i've been reading her first series The Farseer Trilogy this year and have been absolutely devouring them. she makes you feel for her characters and world so deeply.
also a breath of life was my first clarice lispector book and i can confirm, it was amazing. it got me hooked on her beautiful writing. i have yet to read agua viva so now i think that will be my next read from her based on your rec :)

❤📚❤️ I think you might enjoy The Vaster Wilds by Lauren Groff. It was very good. I have North Woods on my to be read list!

  • @philstrand

Great video! North Woods was my favorite release of 2023. A recent story collection has similar vibes: The History of Sound by Ben Shattuck. Well worth checking out. Clarice Lispector’s fiction is some kind of sorcery I cannot explain but which blows my mind. After reading Agua Viva, I would recommend The Passion According to G.H. Nothing can prepare you for that one! I’m also an admirer of William Morris who was an early fantasy writer as well. The Garden Against Time sounds interesting. I’ll have to check it out.

_The Will of the Many_ sounds like basic nuts and bolts marxist symbolism and metaphor. So basically mad and wrong.
