- NBA Finals Orlando Magic at Houston Rockets, June 14, 1995
At the end of the first half, the Magic had a 4-point advantage of the home team, Rockets. However, the Rockets have another notable comeback as they outscored the Magic 66-50 in the second half, thus winning their second consecutive NBA championship. Olajuwon outscores O'Neal by 10 points and caps off the sweep by hitting a memorable yet uncharacteristic 3-pointer in front of O'Neal.

90s basketball is so different. I can literally feel the energy just by watching. You don’t see such footwork by Drexler, Shaq, Hakeem in todays game.

The 90s were an exciting time for basketball. Every team had lots of all stars, and the game was rolling.
Every team did not hand all-stars.
@@Maal7432 Every team had a star or a noteworthy player.
@@Maal7432 yes they did. Hakeem ran though all of them.
The NBA on NBC theme, watching all these great 90s teams. Chills!
@@Bnguyen276Hakeem was the man. I really wish they played the bulls once. My knicks should have beat them on 94.
The Dream was on another level in '94 and '95.
The guy was underrated in those two seasons.
There is reason he's called 'the dream'😊
He would get only one championship if he played vs Jordan bulls in those finals.
nah bulls lost to knicks in playoffs and next year got destroyed by magic
So thrilled for Clyde finally winning a chip.
He came up short twice with the blazers.

I miss the sights n sounds n excitement of 90”s basketball. I was 14 years old watching this . The rivalry’s the big name centers ..Marv on the call .. even to casual fans .. this was must watch tv
Dont forget NBA on NBC!
Man! Olajuwon for 3 that's a killer end.
He could make them.
On shaq too
And against the bulls too
Back when CENTERS bang in the paint!! Miss these days. Every team had a duo of All stars!!!
I think its better to watch harden play one on one. Curry and lilard shot off the drible from half court. Now thats real basketball! I love todays game cuz they take out the physical play and let players play. What's fun about watching slow halfcourt offensive where defenses double the post all game and the big is the one making the passes? Oh and bron is the goat!

@@joshw6993 STILL to this day, has to be considered one of the most unlikely yet also one of the more memorable championship runs in NBA playoffs history. The '95 Houston Rockets....etched in history forever.
@@joshw6993 it wasn't all that shocking to me with Olajuwon & Drexler & Horry & Smith & Cassell. Never underestimate the heart of a champion - Head Coach Rudy Tomjanovich.
After Nick Anderson's choke of four straight free throws in Game one, Orlando never recovered.
Correct, Orlando were done.
In later seasons, Anderson dreaded going to the free throw line. Missing those free throws took a mental toll on him.
Even if he made one of them, they still get beaten by the rockets in 5.
Olajuwon played Robinson and O'Neal as little toys in the playoffs in 95
Yes
This is what I call exciting basketball. The no defense, everyone shoot threes era now is boring.
Boring and pathetic
they say defense is better now😂
@@ziginaigralol. Who would say that. Teams score over 100 every game basically now. 90s basketball was my favorite. The defense was just so much better.
Forgot about Hakeem's 3 at the end. What a great team.
He made a couple of 3s in his career.
Best times ever 80s 90s so many great players and teams
I will never forget those decades.
I was so happy that Clyde got one.
He played with heart in his only ring with Houston.

2nd half Shaq was insane!!!!!
Especially his powerslam.
He actually played well in the 4th quarter of all 4 games which to me shows how tough of a matchup the Rockets really were for the Magic to lose the way they did.
shaq in this finals avg more rebounds ,assists, blocks with 60%fg,hakeem avg 4 more points and 2 steals more with 48%fg
@ziginaigra he should be thankful he was twice as big as everyone else because all of his points came under the basket.
But still ---' SWEEP!!
Olajuwon tips it in!!
Olajuwon for 3!!
Olajuwon with the dream shake!!
Olajuwon Finals MVP!!😮
@@elbertbass9259 Shaq still better all time than Hakeem
there were a couple of games that were ONLY won because of Drexler keeping his cool in these clearly chaotic, turnover filled melees.
His ability to pop jumpers , or create and power to hoop at will, when it was most needed, his ball handling, quiet confident leadership, experience, off the scale basket ball IQ (when to do what), d, rebounding, passing. . He played first tier , all time NBA superstar level basketball. They completely depended on him to step up, as the Warriors did when Durant did in game 4 back when. I don't see how anybody can knock Drex or Durant. They were so good, It's not like Charles Barkley didn't fuck up MANY MANY TIMES and give it away and fail with his bad lifestyle habits and inability to deliver the goods, and adapt to what was needed in the moment.
This Rockets team were beasts. They're defense was vicious and their offense was mesmerizing. Too much for Shaq and Penny!
Great year for Houston. Great team play. Hakeem was virtually unstoppable.
Watching Clyde operate, everywhere, but especially in the post during that run, was just awesome.. What an immense talent he was.. And was the greatest playoff run I’ve ever seen, in any sport.. What a team..
They could run the 66 Celtics out of the gym.. It was unreal how many easy buckets.. So many easy buckets!..
Man that Magic team coulda been so damn good though. Even Shaq admits Penny wouldn’t have been injured had he not left. Penny’s knee injury was not one that was inevitable. You just can’t heal it once it happens, and it happened because Penny was filling a role he wouldn’t have been filling if Shaq was there.
I think they were a better duo than him and Kobe personally. Their games complimented each other more
Partidazo, que pena por mi querido Orlando, aún no entiendo porqué no campeonó aquella ocasión, teniendo a figuras como Shaquel O´neal y derrotando como a romper fideos a Chicago Bulls de Jordan
the 3% is so accurate!!! its still so good to watch ,,,,in 2023
in fact they play so good,,,
I remember watching this game as a boy!!
Shaq was awesome at dunking in this game. He did powerful dunks on Hakeem.
Hakeem still outplayed him and Shaq was usually limited to hooks and dunks with brute force.
@@MJ23-KB24that is true
So much awesome stuff about this game. As great as Kobe and Shaq were, it’s kind of a shame this magic team didn’t stick around longer. Penny could kind of do everything, and in a post Jordan/bulls nba with the east wide open, who knows
Robert Horry had such a smooth shot
He sure did
Whatever his other faults, that man was lowkey clutch as hell. No one really talks about it but watching him play over the years I noticed he always made it in crunch time
How the hell do you leave out Rudy T's most iconic speech?!?!?
This is the most iconic and memorable NBA Finals of the 90s. It is fascinating to know the Houston Rockes can be considered a super team (with a great coach in the name of Rudy Tomjanovich) that year. The Chicago Bulls even when Jordan came back was eliminated by the Orlando on the Eastern Conference Finals, which eventually Orlando Magic 🎩 won 🏆that made them to this historic finals.
Moreover, Orlando has the worse coaching during this NBA Finals which I believed could have been different in contrast to the Orlando Magic's complete, talented, and younger line-up.
Brian Hill did a pretty good job throughout the postseason that year. The Rockets had a more versatile low post player that could also go out to the perimeter and stretch the floor, that along with the Rockets having a stretch PF it was a pretty difficult matchup for the Magic in general.
He gets criticized more for the lopsided ecf series the following year, and while the Magic having such a predictable set offense was definitely glaring they also had injuries which made it impossible for them to have a chance in the first place. The series was more or less over after Grant nearly got his arm broken in G1 by G3 their top reserve was injured too.
The three by Hakeem was the icing on the cake. Sorry Shaq left Orlando. He and Penny made a great combination. Strong possibility they could have come back!!!
I just hope that this finals scenario may happen again this 2023 playoffs for the Warriors.
Orlando's bench is outmatched totally.
The entire series
It wasn't as lopsided as you think, other than Cassell going off in G2 the bench play was pretty much even the rest of the series.
The Dream Shake is still the most OP play in NBA history. It's borderline unfair how unstoppable it was.
Fun Fact: Clyde Drexler gave his Championship Ring to his Brother.
CLUTCH CIIIITTTYYY!!!!!
The title should be magic highlights from when they lost.
glad that Clyde finally got his, Chuck on the other hand
We are the best team in the world :)

I couldn't believe the 6 seed Houston Rockets (47-35) beat the 1 seed Orlando Magic (57-25) in the 1994-95 NBA playoffs.I considered this series an upset.Hakeem Olajuwon was a beast in the playoffs that year.

I feel like this team could have beaten any of those Jordan bulls teams
@@danielle1216 lol
He actually admitted on multiple occasions he was glad the Rockets didn't win the West more often because they were the most difficult matchup for the Bulls. Their defensive scheme was usually effective on traditional low block players that pushed their way towards the basket which would've been a different story with the Rockets. One if the big factors in the Rockets beating the Magic so convincingly was them having more movement in their offense by stretching the floor a lot while the Magic on the other hand couldn't do it as often with Shaq standing around in the paint the majority of the time. The Bulls saw how the Rockets were defending the Magic throughout the series and pretty much duplicated it the following year when they had the personnel to pull it off.
In just 1 NBA Finals
Third time is finally the charm for Drexler.
Hakeem had them boys in a blender lol
Losing Game 1 ruined Orlando.
They would've gotten bounced in 5 either way. Houston wasn't losing that year. All they did was come from behind to win series. Just like my Bucks this year.
G1 wasn't why the Magic lost the series, it was their transition defense and taking erratic shots in pressure situations.
@@ChrisM07 true but losing that game didn't help matters
They were done after that.

Hakeem would fit perfectly in the modern game. He would be even better, ain’t no shaq type playing now. Who’s stopping him today?
We have him, his name is Giannis
11:01 no human scan stop that force lol
As a Magics fan it's hard for me to say that but the Magics had their chance on Game 1 (Damn you Nick Anderson !!!!) but the Rockets were just unbeatable during these finals !!!
Exactly, unbeatable
Nick Anderson makes one free throw magic 🏆 and they would three peated
@Ryan Johnson Magic wouldn't had 3 peat. Jordan was back for a full season in 96 after he lost to the Magic in 95 playoffs right after he came back from retirement.
Bulls was ready for the 2nd 3 peat and they killed Orlando in the ECF.
Secret to this series was Horry outplaying Hardaway though not matched up together
Penny averaged 25.5 ppg and 8 apg, the fact that he put up those numbers and the Rockets still won 4-0 says more about how good of a shooting team they really were.
Какая была классная недооценённая команда хардовый был моим любимым игроком в то время Шакил был был молод и силён ник Андерсон запорол первую игру из-за этого команда команда обсирать жаль
Atleast LeBron is not the only one who got swept in their First finals experience
Rockets shooting 60 percent 3s and fgs.sheesh
Hakeem literally took Shaq to school
Olajuwon for 3 !
Jordan’s the GOAT 🐐…. And I’m glad he retired 94/95 (came back late 95) . Cause if he stayed,,his legacy could of had some FINALS L’s
Any one can google or TH-cam the stats with Bulls vs Rockets from 1991 thru 1993 …. And you’ll see that they wouldn’t of won … the Bulls became dominant when they got Rodman… and 1996 the Bulls finally overcame the Rockets ….
But Jordan’s still the GOAT 🐐
The Bulls wouldn't have gotten out of the East in 95 with Kukoc at the PF position regardless. The Rockets also were a better postseason team compared to the regular season which their 95 championship run showed, they actually weren't a top 4 seed in the West that often of the time throughout the era w/Rudy Tomjanovich because they were injury prone usually.
MY WIFE JUST HAD A GREAT IDEA! GIVE EVERY PLAYER ON THE COURT THEIR OWN BALL SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO FIGHT OVER ONE.
All Houston players really played very good and professional but in Orlando, Shaquille and Hardaway so good team could kill to 2 players 😅

Possible Bucks Vs Warriors?
You are not alone man. That's my guess as well as I see this video when my Warriors gets into the Playoffs this season.
Now this is basketball. The NBA today is every ego for himself.
8:08 wow! Lol MJish lol
Poor magic, they got their asses whipped, and never had a chance to come back in this game.
So dream had to go through Ewing and a young bull shaq, to get his rings.
He needed kobe dewayd and Phil
Penny and Horace Grant both played up to their usual standard along with Shaq. Penny averaged 25.5 ppg and 8 apg while Grant averaged a double double (13.5 ppg/12 rpg). The Rockets were simply a difficult matchup for them Shaq had to actually play 1 on 1 defense where he was getting in foul trouble he was used to roaming around most of the game with his center matchup not being the focal point of the offense. Also both him and Horace Grant had to leave the paint a lot to go out and defend which the Rockets took advantage of most of the time.
Whos the commentator with that thick Boston or New York accent?
Hakeem!
Good ol' Nba, when no one yells "And oooone" after a foul while scoring.
HOW MUCH POINT SHAVIN WAS CAUGHT IN EACH ROUND THEY FOUND ALOT??????
Leave drugs urgently
THIS WAS SUPOSE TU BE A 7 GAME SERIES WITH MAGIC WININ POINT BLANK!!!!
Dude , Orlando should have passed the ball to Shaq every play . The coach should ha e been canned
Shaq got about as many touches as he would normally get. The big difference was he actually had to play 1 on 1 defense in this series where he was getting in foul trouble rather than just roaming around most of the game which is what he was used to doing.
BUT IT WASENT JUST THE FINALS WAS THE GREATEST UPSET OF ALL TIME!!! THE ROCKETS PULLED OFF THE GREATEST UPSET IN NBA PLAYOFFS HISTORY!!!!! SO WHAT WAS IT?????? RUDEY T SAID THE HEART OF A CHAMPION! OKAY BUT HOW DO U DO THAT IN EACH ROUND AN SWEEP IN FINALS AS A 6 SEED TEAM!!!!! NOBODY WAS LAYIN DOWN FOR NOBODY???? WHAT HAPPENED
What happened was everyone got healthy once the playoffs came and Olajuwon went off!!
Do you think Jordan and bulls would be able to beat this rockets team? I don’t think so. Hakeem would have been to much.
Bulls could beat the 94 Rockets with Jordan, but not the 95 Rockets
Agreed
The bulls could beat them. We should never bet against MJ because you will Lose. But in no one will ever know.
Easily, if MJ was in shape they would have absolutely destroyed the rockets, Just because hakeem has a winning record over Jordan in the regular season does not mean he can beat him in the finals, MJ faced very tough and physical teams in the east, the bad boys pistons and knicks were bruisers on defense, MJ averaged 45 ppg vs boston, be would destroy the overrated rockets
@@user-jm7mm4lo7o The Rockets had the most diverse system in the league where they relied more on team ball rather than a PG to run the offense that's actually the reason they were such a difficult matchup in the first place.
Shaq vs. Houston
Is this the year when jordan retired?
U NEVER QUESTION A CHAMPIONSHIP OR PLAYOFF WIN BUT U CAN BE A SORE ASS LOSER!!!! BUT THIS AINT THA CASE GREATEST FINALS AND AND AND GREATEST PLAYOFF UPSET IN NBA HISTORY!! SOMEBODY GOT SOME EXPLAIN TU DO CAUSE SOMEBODY WORKIN SOMW VOO DOO CUZ IT AINT MAGIC
Then Shaq went to L.A.
He was still with the Magic the following season he joined the Lakers in July afterwards.
What the hell happened to the Magic?
How can you be the 1 Seed and get swept by a frigging 6 Seed ?🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Granted I wasn’t even a year old when this finals was played so please inform me
It's simple, really. The Rockets were the defending champs who added Drexler at the time and after the Magic, a young and inexperienced team, choked away Game 1 at home.... their confidence crashed.
The last 10 seconds of regulation in G1 was the obvious difference in them being up 1-0 and what actually ended up happening.

I want to love basketball the way I used to. Everything about the game now is worse. From the way the game flows, the rules, the philosophy, the politics...all of it. I really wish I could love the game the way I did back in these days. It was just basketball. It was the dream and the glyde. Stevie franchise. T-mac and Yao...
Now it's a bunch of politics, a bunch of highlight plays without defensive effort.
Did you see how far behind the magic were, not to mention down 3-0 in the series? They fought to the buzzer. That is the game I remember, and that's the game I loved. That game is gone...it's a bunch of 7 footers throwing up 3's from 10 feet behind the line, isolation, and traveling 4 extra steps to dunk on, well, to dunk on nobody because the center is 30 feet away from the basket.
I'm all for guys knocking down 3's. I'm all for progress and the evolution of the game, but the way the game is played now is not fun to watch. It just isn't. I've tried and tried...there's no ball movement and no physicality. It's just guys shooting 3's and trying to do things to look cool. That isn't a game, that's a show off contest.
Sorry for the rant. Call me boomer if you want. But the electricity in the building speaks for itself. This was a better product and far more fun to watch.
