    Dude, you’re the best. Also, due to your love for the Vitex, have you considered a Texas Mountain Laurel? Slow growing, evergreen, doesn’t bloom as long as the Vitex does but the flowers look like sacs of grapes and smell like grape crush, and their natural trunk structure is awesome, but I’m wondering if you may get a little too much rain. I don’t know Houston’s climate compared to Phoenix.

      Yeah I need to keep spacing in mind it's a little hard to visualize when they're tiny lil dudes. I kinda want a dense planting but we'll see I may end up yanking it and moving it.

    Lovin' the vibe. Came here because I was searching for some vids featuring our native rose species in their home garden. I used to work for a wholesale native plant nursery and am stoked to come across more folks under 60 bringing their enthusiasm and knowledge and curiosity into this space. (No shade to the older folks- just excited to see the passin' of the torch.) Hope your garden is growing beautifully!

    I need help with ideas for my front yard. I don’t like the mulch, but the small stones or white pebbles yes. And potted plants. But idk what to plant because they have no shade, just the house shade when the sun moves but.. I need an expert advice. I also don’t have time or money to much maintenance and I don’t want plants that look horrendous in winter or summer. Help

    • @paulplantu
      @paulplantu  ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to look up native low maintenance plants for the area you live. Pebbles and rocks look good and are fine in a desert like environment but if you live in a place that gets fairly regular rain you’re going to be constantly pulling weeds out. Cacti, would be fine in pots but anything else you’ll have to regularly water because there’s not much soil in pots to retain moisture. I have no clue where you live so it’s hard to advise you.

    Great selection. Love false indigo! Hope you give updates!
    Also, since you’re interested in natives, you might want to find a native plant nursery. Many cultivars don’t produce nectar. Also, where the straight species might be a perineal, the cultivars often act as an annual. Anyway, very cool you’re thinking of the bees and butterflies and other beneficial insects. Don’t forget the birds 😉

    • @paulplantu
      @paulplantu  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, there’s one I go to. It actually is where I grabbed that false indigo. I did see on the big box stores suppliers websites they called some flowers “short lived perrineals” SMH! Thanks for the advice.
