You can't throw away the whole lot, well, bit by bit you throw away, but no, you don't even have to drop anything."

And no, there is nothing 'here, now' that will lead to another door for misery and what not. Just is, just be.

Funnily, this end of the search, or “no search”, the “here and now” that you describe is found in Zen Buddhism. I think Zen basically uses the language of Buddhism as a tradition to get to this natural state. Their kind of enlightenment is not a religious event or anything, it’s a part of seeing reality as it is, without all the junk we layer over it. And I think Zen as a tradition aims to foster that natural state.
