My dream cabinet.. a new take on the original NEO GEO MVS cabinet from the 1990's.
Upgraded with new features like the option to play ALL the Neo Geo games with use of the Mister FPGA computer. Original Sony CRT / PVM monitor for the real feel and much much more.
In this video I will take you through the entire process of how I designed and build this monster. At the end we will play some Metal Slug of course!

Finally someone who installs a CRT. It’s the ONLY true way to display these 80/90’s arcade games. Amazing job!!!
Shame everything else is wrong
If you really want to be a purist you need an arcade monitor
@@liamconverse8950 If it has RGB input, you don't loose anything other than pots. The only service adjustment needed that Groovymame can't control is vertical size. And that can be tapped with an arduino i2c bridge to adjust on the fly with some physical buttons.
@@mattnorton9333 Well this was talking about mister, not mame. What's pots
Bro he used a cat but what about everything else??
Have to say what a real arcade experience with the CRT! Definitely brings back the real magic.
Yeah, I can’t stand LCD. I want thy screen he has! It’s amazing how good the games look!
@@retror.d.1630 He went to stay with original as possible and went CRT, but, now with the new upgraded retrotink we can finally get that true CRT look on LCD, but the price is up there and if it ever drops then it will definitely be the way to go as it would be so much cheaper and easier. But for staying original this CRT is a must!
Awesome build and share... Thank you my friend ❤
Congratulations. That is truly a magnificent piece of work. Something to be very proud of.
Nailed it!!!! Congrats!!! That is amazing!!!
Nailed what? An original MVS cab monstrosity? Brilliant 👍🤮
You videos have been such an inspiration!!! Love when you share these
This is a really nice build. Fantastic work as always.
I get jealous everytime i see these videos haha, awesome build as always. groetjes!!
This is so relaxing to watch. Thank you for this video. I want to build one someday but a smaller version and using a PC monitor.
Saw your cab over with Wicked and came over here to watch more. Great job!
Amazing job my friend......
Respect as always!! Mooi werk maat!
Dank, Dank 🙌🏻
Damn!! You the mann!!! 👍🏾💯
great job . greetings from Argentina
❤ great work
Beautil form of art, i'm always interested in learning more about arcade building so thank you for sharing it and congratulations for your amazing project 😁🔥🕹🔥
nice work!!! de neogeo is een top apparaat :D
Dope!
Love your videos detailing your builds
No one does what you can do with arcade machines, and you should be proud of your work
Will be interesting when you do a pinball machine, be interesting to see your special take on that sort of machine
Even though i could never afford such things, i love that people like you show people what can be done at extreme ends of this stuff
I am just glad you can share your work with us, and maybe you inspire others to do similar things.
Your clients must be very pleased with you and your work. Its great how you can make custom machines to there tastes.
Nice 😊
Proficiat met de kast
Cool simpel en solide 👍
That's a beautiful cabinet and build, I'm currently trying to build a fighting cabinet with King of Fighters being the theme.
Amazing Neo Geo arcade. I own a Big Red Neo Geo arcade myself. I also have a Mistercade. I like the pixel marquee, I didn’t know I can hook it up with Mistercade. I think I am going to hook mine up like that.
Nice
Ik zou het leuk vinden om eens een project als dit met jou te doen. Zelf heb ik niet het juiste gereedschap.
I discovered metal slug for the first time on a i think pirated version of the first game that was made in flash and love the series so much as well like the only thing i would do is if theres kids around i will either deactivate the blood or see if i can change its color
Great video Dan definitely am a subscriber after this one! I have a question about the MisterCade that you use. Does it require a certain version of a ROM set like Mame does? I'm not asking you to get me the ROMs, I can find them, I just don't know which ones to use or if it even matters
Wow! Love this build! How many games? Also, I'm not the educated on the mister. Where do the games come from? A jamma cart?
Love all your videos and builds! Looking forward to the next! Thanks Daniel!
The games are a downloadable ROM pack. Instructions are on many Mister FPGA websites
@@TheDanielSpies_Arcades Thanks Daniel!
You always evolve in your builds. Look at that beautiful cabinet! Out of curiosity how much did it take to build that cabinet? Is the MisterFPG really that much better than using mame? I wish my builds looked as flawless as yours does.
The cabinet was not too expensive, the PVM is very v e r y pricy 😅
Daniel, could you draft out the Capcom Big Blue the newer style with the attachment on the top w/ the marquee? I love the NEO Geo cabinet though, phenominal.
Thanks for sharing! How does the pixel-marquee work together with the MISTer?
Really easy, instructions are on the Pixelcade website. Works (almost out of the box)
Looking really nice! Maybe a tutorial video on using the Mistercade in the future ?
As I understand is replicating the mvs? Which one? The big red ? Could I get the blue print to replicate it myself? Good work, however I would have kept the original vinyls but it’s your arcade not mine… good video and great work
Can you please explain why you needed the MisterCade? The mister can output a signal you can use for the PVM, or use the cheaper IO board. Thanks.
Because Mister it's the closest to original then anything else! Basically a original copy!
Nice, no shortcuts on this one
Does the FPGA have an attract mode like front end for it yet?
For the controls you used two of those usb boards correct? When setting your button map, when you set player one it copies to player two correct?
Yes but I used two different Brook boards == different ID’s as Mister FPGA keeps having problems using two identical boards
really a beautyflull piece of art , how much it cost you for build the arcade machine ?
Not sure, the monitor alone would be 1500 / 2000 euro or so 😅
Have you tried the new retrotink 5 to make a lcd look as good as a CRT?
This is a crt monitor of course ;-) but if you are talking about my other builds, no never worked with the retrotink 5 yet
If you Can buyld a neogeo bartop for me that wold be cool
when i played this game with the use of 50 cent i think i spend €45 if i used your cab
True 🤣
Hello. Do you sell this project? CNC project, fusion...?

@@TheDanielSpies_Arcades Hello from Almere!
What is your own special sauce?

but can I buy this from you? or hire you to make one for me? LOL

Congratulations Daniel, nice project and the video is really well done ! Everyone reading this comment, click on the subscribe to help Daniel here !
If you're playing the game, why does it keep saying "press start"?
That's player twos position. Player one flashes press start on the upper left.
3 honest thoughts on this video/build - do not mean any disrespect:
This cab build could be multi hour'd and episode'd. Would suck to capture and edit I'm sure so I can totally understand why this couldn't be done.
But seriously?! A (North of) €5000 2130QM calibrated, serviced, unshelled, and installed into the cab to just play Neo Geo games?! Do you also wipe your hiney with AES carts?
Are you seriously going to ignore the pillar genre of the system and not demo a single fighting game?!?! It doesn't matter if you're bad an hour of play should provide enough footage to pad this video out to 20 minutes.
Good point about the fighting games, it is true that they are a substantial part of what made the Neo Geo famous. I am just not a fighting game guy :-)
Meh from the side art to the cpo, all horrible. Sorry 🤮
Keep it original then totally fuc#s it up from start to finish 😃👍
No problem, I hope you DID like the video 😅
@@-Astro--, anytime I see comments like this I shake my head. Anyone can say something sucks but nothing of substance here. Got anything constructive on what you would do different?
Only thing I'm not a fan of is how the marquee is angled up vs straight (personal preference vs flaw) but the rest seems solid. Then again... I haven't built one yet but really want to but I have much different ideas to go with my TV that can rotate 360 degrees to play pinball vertically.
