    I just got this machine & came across your good review. I agree with the design features not being so good with positioning of on/off switch, steamer & the water holder. With many machines you can fill from the top. The tube in the water makes easy in/out impossible in small places. I have have to move other things to turn machine around & take out the water tank. In general it works. Less crema than the delonghi I had but I am not complaining. :) I was happy with the tip to let the water out of the steamer. Practical!

    Hello! Your review is amazing, the only wuestion im left with is when to flip the switch back up when making an espresso. I assumed at first it would flip up by its self when done but if I leave it it just keeps running and becomes watery and I’m not sure how long it should be let running for the best taste and strength. I’m no espresso expert at all I just use it for iced lattes in the morning.
    I’m also wondering if the handle is supposed to be centered because mine doesn’t go all the way to the middle when attached with or without coffee.
    I know I said one question but just one more thing. What’s the most efficient way of removing the residue after I’m done making my espresso? It’s annoying me so much I’m contemplating selling the machine and getting a new one and I’ve only just owned it for two weeks..
    Again thank you so much!

  • @expresso4586
    @expresso4586 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I did not see a PID module. Does it rely only on a simple thermostat to turn the boiler off and on? If so the temperature fluctuations must be quite big which can be a big problem for temperature stability.

    • @101kofemashina
      @101kofemashina  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course there is no PID. The machine costs 100 euro. It has three thermostats: two for lights and turing boiler off/on, the third is for thermometer.

    • @101kofemashina
      @101kofemashina  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's quite easy comapring to other espresso makers. You need to unscrew 2 or 4 (don't remember exactly) screws under the upper part. After that the top (colored) part will be fixed only by plastic locks (sorry for my english - i'm not sure that it is the correct word). So after unscewing just pull the upper part to the top, i used kitchen knife covered in towel (to avoid scratches). Don't be afraid to do it with an effort. Thank you! I've been asking on different sites if this unit has any aluminum parts and gotten no answers (the description just says "metal")....finally I have my answer! Super disappointing that the boiler is aluminum. So unhealthy. I will have to move on from this unit. Too bad....I love the look. But not worth the health issues aluminum can cause.

  • @RonaldRademaker

    Aluminium boiler is not good for you because of toxins getting out of material is this true?

    • @101kofemashina
      @101kofemashina  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (US) thinks that's OK, especially if boil water in aluminum, not acidic liquid: "Exposure to the levels of aluminum that are naturally present in food and water and the forms of aluminum that are present in dirt and aluminum pots and pans are not considered to be harmful.
      Eating large amounts of processed food containing aluminum additives or frequently cooking acidic foods in aluminum pots may expose a person to higher levels of aluminum than a person who generally consumes unprocessed foods and uses pots made of other materials (e.g., stainless steel or glass). However, aluminum levels found in processed foods and foods cooked in aluminum pots are generally considered to be safe." Source: www.atsdr.cdc.gov/phs/phs.asp?id=1076&tid=34

    Are you sure its an alluminum boiler? Delonghi uses stainless steel boilers.Alluminum corrodes and releases alluminum salts which are noxious for your health.

    • @101kofemashina
      @101kofemashina  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, I'm sure. I disassembled both, De'Longhi uses steel boilers indeed (see my test 101coffeemachines.info/compare/delonghi-vs-saeco-vs-hamilton-beach/ ). Ariete, as well as Philips/Saeco in the cheapest models and numerous Chinese-engineered espresso makers like Hamilton Beach for example, use aluminium boilers. Aluminum corrodes but it does not rust, aluminum corrosion is aluminum oxide, a very hard material that actually protects the aluminum from further corrosion. However, it's not so harmful, Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry states that "aluminum levels found in processed foods and foods cooked in aluminum pots are generally considered to be safe" (www.atsdr.cdc.gov/phs/phs.asp?id=1076&tid=34). Aluminium Italian moka pots are great example :)
