I, too, have mental health days and concerns about money, health, etc. These things are unavoidable, but you bring the beauty of the Highlands to many of us and that is healing! I am trying to pay off debt, live more simply, and appreciate the beauty that is around me. Thank you for all you bring to this channel!
I'm a working class person from and living in the countryside, very close to Snowdonia National Park. Whenever I and people like me see videos like this, we wonder, where is the money coming from? Housing here is now out of reach of about 50% of locals. Many struggle on very low wages, in seasonal unstable jobs, in roles that do not fully make use of their talents & interests. Eating out or just going to a cafe to get a coffee & cake is as, and often even more expensive than central London. We have a lot of English middle class people who move here for the beauty, but somehow manage to conjure money from thin air and just teach the occasional yoga class. That's no where near enough to sustain a living....so we're all left wondering where the rest is coming from??
Lived in a town my whole life. But I always dreamed of more rural places. And recently I moved to a loft in a village here in my island. The inconveniences I am dealing with (including lack of washing machine) are things I gladly put up with just for being here now. Hearing nature sounds over car horns and traffic buzzing and opening your window to a huge landscape of open sky, sea and the greenery of the village, is more than worth it.
Yes, I agree, you do live in a beautiful part of Scotland, surrounded by nature, which is good for the soul, but as you mentioned a beautiful place is no guarantee for being happy all the time or being content (but a good step towards it😉). Happiness is an inside job. Thank you for your honesty Molly 🙏
Inspirational because here is a young female doing things she loves on her own, depending upon her own strengths and at the same time dispelling the myth that life can be perfect - we all know it isn't deep down yet we strive for happiness which in realty can only come from within ourselves. Lovely colours captured here and good choice of decor. Thank you.
Molly you are correct when you say that we should not be working such long hours to pay for something we don’t really need eg huge houses , new cars and the latest fashion and tech but unfortunately in these times we all need quite a lot of money for basics ! Beautiful vlog as always, have a great week x
Thank you Molly for this week’s episode. Each week I am being gently reminded of how I can slow down my own lifestyle and bring more of nature into it. So thank you! ☺️🙏🌿
I always find your videos peaceful and calming, while at the same time inspiring and I'm full of admiration for you knowing yourself so well and following your heart at such a young age - its taken me a lot longer!
I live in the Strathspey and love seeing the Cairngorms each week displayed so beautifully through your videos! 🥰 We are so blessed to live in such a beautiful part of the world! xx
Molly what a peaceful restful and fulfilling piece of work. Thank you for the weekly reminder to slow down, be grateful, present and mindful. Thank you Jane ☺️ x
Hi Molly. Love all of your videos but I am a fool for these calm voiceover videos of yours. Keep up the good work - i’m sure it’s as important to many other other people as it hasbecome to me (on such a deep level). And of course always a pleasure to see skye’s beautiful eyes and the immeasurable highland beauty.
Thank you Molly for your wonderful vlogs. I absolutely love where you live and totally agree with you that the most important thing is what is going on in your mind. I find your vlogs so relaxing and inspiring. As an older lady (Im 67) I really admire your insightfulness. I wish I would have had that at your age. Keep spreading your message of authentic living. It is sorely needed in today's world.❤😊
I’ve been through some very dark days and wasn’t able to get much help or understanding but now I’m coming out the other side. I am a Christian and my faith has helped me through but so has living by the sea. There are still some areas of my life that I need to work on but I am slowly getting there. I love watching your videos although I know for sure rural life wouldn’t be for me unless I drove which I do not. But I love it when my hubby and I go on holidays in the countryside and experience it just a little bit x
I would say that health is your most precious asset. I've got plenty of time but can't do much coz of health challenges. Taking a lot of getting used to. So thank you for your glimpses outside and the land of my ancestors
Hello Molly thank you for another wonderful blog. You are so right in all you say. You are a wise old soul. The Scottish Highlands are truly beautiful. xx
What a beautiful video Molly. We've been living in a cabin surrounded by woods in Dunkeld, Fife, for three weeks while our kitchen at our home in Edinburgh is renovated. It's rather like being on a retreat. The Autumn colours are so astonishing this year. Even the rain adds beauty to the woodland! Thank you for all your lovely videos.
You have a very inviting voice. I identify with your story. I definitely thrive on nature, animals and flying solo. It feels good knowing there are others out there who understand the importance in being true to who you want to be with no shame.
Hi Molly, this is one of my fave videos to date - So inspiring in many ways and I always take stock of how fortunate and grateful that I am to live here in beautiful Shropshire, where I have access to so much lovely natural scenic splendour AND it's easy to go to other places as I'm in the centre of the country. All the best to you and yours (especially Skye) 🥰
Inspiriting video, I am also embarking on the journey of slow life and believe me it is making my very restless (me being an urban dweller always). This video gives me confidence that there are people around who are resonating with the 'minimalism' concept and I am on the right path.. Cheers!!
Love your videos- seeing old regular haunts such as the walks and places like Loch morlich and Loch an Eileen takes me back to many happy times when I was younger- Grandparents used to live in Aviemore, so many a holiday was spent with them exploring the glens, walking round the lochs and skiing on the hills!
It's lovely to see how nature affects your lifestyle, including reading. Gorgeous. I would love to visit. And, awkwardly, I wish I could be friends with you!
Great video, Molly. Thank you so much for pointing out that one's inner world is important. While surroundings enhance that realm, it's not everything.
You are living my absoulute dreamlife :) In this video there is even a moment that looks exactly like the vision that came to me a year ago. I would love to move there, but for me as a German it seems impossible to get a visa, especially since I am an entrepreneur.
Somehow I missed this video when it came out. But the video you released today was so inspiring I went through all of your videos and came across this 1. And the words you spoke about happiness and that it should come from within and not our surroundings really resonated.. Wise words
Thanks for this lovely video Molly ❤ What you say is very true, and think the changes you've made are wonderful and inspiring! Although I dream of living in the countryside one day, for now I try cherish the beauty that's already around me, whilst trying to live a quiet and simple life as best I can in the frantic south-east of England 😊
Your life does look idyllic , but I know life isn't like that 100% of the time.. Just being able to find peace in your daily life is a blessing. Good job
..my life will never be the same.. I almost cried! I was in the highlands yesterday and I wanted to stay! Unfortunately as a german citizen it is not easy (almost impossible) to get a visa for Scotland. Thanks Brexit. And I wanted to move to the Highlands long before my friend recommended your channel to me btw 😊
my partner and I are thinking about leaving the rather large city in germany we live in currently to move back to my roots to ireland, and I am rather conflicted about it, but then my best friend said something very wise: ‘you can have poor mental health and money problems in ireland as well, in fact you probably will, but at least the nature is much nicer and the noise less annoying’ That said, that was a wonderful video, I really appreciated your insights and thoughts about living more rual, and more slowly and simpler. Thanks!
Always a joy to watch your video creations, this one however had the added bonus of stirring my emotions, maybe looking back over time has this affect, which can sometimes be a good thing! I wanted to let you know I really appreciated this video and it has reminded me to blossom where we are planted, not always easy to do, but very worth striving for😊. Thanks for all your hard work Molly.
I just got a fabulous book from Rosie Steer. It’s called „Slow seasons, a creative guide to reconnecting with nature the celtic way.“ Thought you might like it too!
Please can you let me know where you got your drink flask from. I’m looking for one to take on my walks with my little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Thank you.
Its from Hydroflask and its the best one I've ever had so would recommend! You can get one direct from them or they sell it in some UK outdoor stores like Tiso :)
What a gorgeous channel, new viewer here delighted to have found you. Do you mind me asking you what mic you use for your voiceover work on here? The one I've been using is a bit too quiet and I'm on the lookout for a better one. Thanks :)
Hi Molly, what part of the highlands are you in, only asking as I’m looking for somewhere for a really quiet break with not many if any people around? Lovely vlog, thanks for sharing, take care xx
Hi Molly, Loved you're reflections on living in the Highlands of Scotland over the past 6 years & some days are more enjoyable than others. Wishing you a peaceful week ahead, take care, 😊
Hi molly. Thanks for what u do. Is the council tax super high up there? Whats the overall costs for water and heating i seriously would love to move up there. Just an idea im after of the costs. Thanks
When people say money don't make you happy.. no it does not, it makes you able to eat, hence, to live. The reason why some people like me see this kind of video is mostly because we can't afford to live in our own countries and NEED to move. So yeah, highlands are beautiful and it's all more of a reason to move but try it without money and then tell me how did it feels to starve to death.. if you felt "happy".. "I know 4 languages, I have a Degree, I have a car, but I only want a living wage".
Over the last couple of years I have struggled with being a highly sensitive person. But watching videos such as this remind me that there are other people who crave tranquility and peace❤️
Hey Molly. I just wondered if you've ever recieved hate for living here as an English person? I moved here in December and have had lots of horrible comments on my YT videos about being English and moving here, it makes me feel unwanted.... Would love to know your experience xx
I’m very sorry to hear that 😔 Definitely not representative of most folks in Highland…but important to remember to make an effort to integrate socially wherever possible by way of quietly offering your time/resources/energy - this goes a long way here. Highland kindness is alive and well, it can just take time to show itself. People here don’t take to over-eager attitudes/loud voices/demands from newcomers for things to change, even if the changes seem sensible and desirable. I’m not suggesting that this is the case in your situation - but this is from my personal observations, having moved up from the Central Belt 10 years back ❤
I was thinking of retirement in highland but the lately movements against muslims making me think twice especially I want to spend money so why should I have any problems
I, too, have mental health days and concerns about money, health, etc. These things are unavoidable, but you bring the beauty of the Highlands to many of us and that is healing! This video made me feel so at peace
