Why don't schools teach boys to keep their hands to themselves then discriminating girls who look fine?? I cannot relate to any of this since my school has uniform but this is common knowledge.
My male teacher had me call home because the holes in my pants were too “high”. After our encounter he had a talk with the class. He said things like “Girls should NOT wear pants that have holes above the knees” “ it makes me and my male students uncomfortable” “No one wants to see your big thighs”. He began threatening suspension. He was to worried about our pants to focus on the fact that his punishments were taking time from our education.

When my peer asked why our teachers say revealing our shoulders is a distraction to boys, my teacher said it was an attractive nuisance. For those of you who don’t know; an attractive nuisance is when you have something in your yard, like a pool, and if someone trespasses and gets injured in the pool, you’re liable. In my elementary (jk - grade 8) the boys had a "dress code" but I don't count it since they didn't even know that it existed. It was so insignificant that they didn't realize it was there, I doubt they would've gotten in trouble if they broke it. Unlike us girls, I never got dress coded, but that's cuz I was paranoid about breaking the dress code. But I had a friend who got dress coded when she was following the dress code

I was dress coded once because my shorts were bright pink and in the front the design was to be shorter than the back. There was a girl that was in the office showing WAY more skin than I was and they didn’t say anything to her. I asked for the dress code list and I found 11 targeted at girls, 5 targeted for both genders, and 2 that could’ve been under both but I decided were more so for the boys.....

You ranted, here's mine. I worked around the dress code that I had because I struggled with my looks and self esteem. All the other girls wore tight fitting polos and pants that looked like they were painted on, they didn't need the belts that were required because everything fit perfectly. I was hiking up my pants at least three times a day, even with a belt. I drowning in my oversized polos, screaming silently as I tried to claw my way to the top, past the girls who were nothing more than makeup, gossip, and lies. I drowned in the school system, because no one questioned the girl who wore baggy clothes. It was assumed I was trying to get attention from the boys, when in reality I was faced with the brutal reality where to be popular you need to be mean, to be pretty you have to be skinny, to be perfect you had to be stupid. I look back at those years, and I want to change something, anything. But I can't. So I sit and remember the girl who was ignored because she wasn't pretty or popular. I pray that none of you will suffer in silence like I did.

Hannah Lewis in seventh grade: i stopped wearing a bra. since then i have received no hate, or judgement from anyone... except my mom. the worst part is that not wearing a bra made me feel like myself, and comfortable, and everything a girl deserves to feel in her clothing. she still says, "i just don't want people to judge you." it hurts so much more coming from someone you love. i used to judge other girls, too, but stopped in 7th grade when i realized just how disgusting it was.

Everyone is talking about the poem and their personal experiences, and that’s awesome! I love hearing about people’s opinions and feelings, and the poem was beautiful. But, can we take a minute to appreciate the boys sitting on the couch in the background, listening intently, not interrupting or trying to change her words or opinions? Exactly! I came back from school a year ago from a small vacation and I always hang out with the same group, sometimes the people who play football/watch them (boys and girls). And course, since us females have to have so many dress codes, I got in trouble because I was breaking like three dress codes? Shoulders, legs (jeans had holes in them) and then some other one that I can't remember. I swear to the all spark. None of the boys stared at mw like the teachers said they would- It was a normal day. I watched them play football, and the girls won (because it wad the first game they started and thw boys always say they go easy on the girl's) then my group came over, convinced me to go join tag with another group of football players which forgot their football, and so I did. Near the end of the break we were walking back to go get ready to go inside and one of the boys, I'ma call him N, says "Oooh *;-;;-;* is breaking the dress codes.". And I just laughed it off. "N, how?" Then he nodded to my shoulders but then went straight back to walking his ex walk off.

My school has told me to stop wearing a shirt that doesn't cover my front and back while wearing leggings because "boys are all over this school and you're sending the wrong message." I told my parents this (I'm in 8th at this time) and I asked them "Why should it be my fault if the teachers let the boys say these things and look at us like this?" I moved away and soon after I had someone tell me that my best friend felt like no one liked her because she wasn't "sending signals that people wanted her to." Women all over the world. Speak up and do what's right. Wear what you want. Because at the end of the day, you shouldn't care about what others think. Be you and don't let anyone stand in the way. Fourth period- One of my classmates asks me how i can expect respect When I’m not dressed like I deserve it. Like a quarter inch of my stomach made a difference, Like she didn’t know what it was like to be objectified, To be treated like she was less than the emotional counterpart, Like she didn’t grow up hearing “this is a man’s job.” Fifth period- I was upset the Bible said that Eve was made from Adam’s rib, And maybe I was made from his rib, But there are 100 trillion cells in my body and each And every one of them is still multiplying. I was in class and the teacher mentioned something about our clothes being dress code. Two boys in our class stood up and gave an entire speech on why woman should have a right to dress how they want, how no one is obsessed over shoulders, how it doesn’t increases our chances of getting r@ped, and how the teacher needs to Stfu because the only creeper their is the teacher. I remember my sophomore year it was our first day back from winter break and our principal came over the announcements saying that if any girl had leggings on to send them to the office for dress code. Up until that day girls were allowed to wear leggings if they had a shirt long enough to cover their butt, but all of a sudden it was a problem no matter if they did have a long enough shirt. There was a line of girls out of the office and wrapped around one of our hallways all the way until 4th period. Our principal told them they should be ashamed of themselves. It was ridiculous that all of these girls had to miss out on their education bc of something so stupid.

PREACH. At my sisters highschool the cheerleaders uniforms are extremely revealing. They take a small lean over a desk and you can see their underwear bright as the sun. No one tells them to put on shorts and no one makes the uniforms a little longer. A friend of my sisters wore a plan t-shirt to school and got a weeks detention because the shirt was cut too low. As if her collar bone screams "SEXY". As if her collar bone would turn on a man more than a cheerleaders underwear. At my jr high the dress code is really strict. We have to wear a collage shirt, a collared shirt, or a spirit shirt. If we wear shorts they have to be jeans and they have to go to the knee. We can't wear any other pants but jeans and they can't have holes. If the jeans have designs we get dress coded. As much as this dress code pisses me off, what makes me really mad is they tell us at the beginning of the year no athletic shorts (basketball shorts basically) but teachers favorites and teachers kids come to school in basketball shorts almost everyday. A friend of mine comes to school out of dress code everyday and never gets dress coded, If i came to school in what she wore i would be dress coded the second i made it off the bus. The dress code is not only restricting but it's unfair
Y'know what distracts me? The stupidity of a thing called "dress code". I run for most of my sports and like the guys I like to take off my shirt when I run, but I am told to put my shirt back on by the male principle because he and all the "other boys" can keep their eyes off the sport bra that I am wearing, even though a sports bra is considered an outer garment.

In my elementary (jk - grade 8) the boys had a "dress code" but I don't count it since they didn't even know that it existed. It was so insignificant that they didn't realize it was there, I doubt they would've gotten in trouble if they broke it. Unlike us girls, I never got dress coded, but that's cuz I was paranoid about breaking the dress code. But I had a friend who got dress coded when she was following the dress code

I was dress coded once because my shorts were bright pink and in the front the design was to be shorter than the back. Why are girls told to cover themselves? “It’s to distracting” is getting old, instead of girls needing to cover up every inch of their body boys should be told what is right and wrong, what is appropriate and inappropriate, how to act and how not to act. ‘Surprisingly’ boys *CAN* control themselves, and not all of them are constantly thinking about girls and our bodies.
So true, I have arms down to the top of my knee and every day in P.E I wear BASKETBALL shorts and I get dress coded because they’re too short. Little does my gym teacher know that they are the longest shorts I have.

I worked around the dress code that I had because I struggled with my looks and self esteem. All the other girls wore tight fitting polos and pants that looked like they were painted on, they didn't need the belts that were required because everything fit perfectly. I was hiking up my pants at least three times a day, even with a belt. I drowning in my oversized polos, screaming silently as I tried to claw my way to the top, past the girls who were nothing more than makeup, gossip, and lies. I drowned in the school system, because no one questioned the girl who wore baggy clothes. It was assumed I was trying to get attention from the boys, when in reality I was faced with the brutal reality where to be popular you need to be mean, to be pretty you have to be skinny, to be perfect you had to be stupid. I look back at those years, and I want to change something, anything. But I can't. So I sit and remember the girl who was ignored because she wasn't pretty or popular. I pray that none of you will suffer in silence like I did.

But, can we take a minute to appreciate the boys sitting on the couch in the background, listening intently, not interrupting or trying to change her words or opinions? Exactly! I came back from school a year ago from a small vacation and I always hang out with the same group, sometimes the people who play football/watch them (boys and girls). And course, since us females have to have so many dress codes, I got in trouble because I was breaking like three dress codes? Shoulders, legs (jeans had holes in them) and then some other one that I can't remember.
I swear to the all spark. None of the boys stared at mw like the teachers said they would- It was a normal day. I watched them play football, and the girls won (because it wad the first game they started and thw boys always say they go easy on the girl's) then my group came over, convinced me to go join tag with another group of football players which forgot their football, and so I did.
Near the end of the break we were walking back to go get ready to go inside and one of the boys, I'ma call him N, says "Oooh *;-;;-;* is breaking the dress codes.".

My school has told me to stop wearing a shirt that doesn't cover my front and back while wearing leggings because "boys are all over this school and you're sending the wrong message." I told my parents this (I'm in 8th at this time) and I asked them "Why should it be my fault if the teachers let the boys say these things and look at us like this?" I moved away and soon after I had someone tell me that my best friend felt like no one liked her because she wasn't "sending signals that people wanted her to." Women all over the world. Speak up and do what's right. Wear what you want. Because at the end of the day, you shouldn't care about what others think. Be you and don't let anyone stand in the way. - no tight dresses/ shirts
- no leggings with out shirt that covers bum

I remember my sophomore year it was our first day back from winter break and our principal came over the announcements saying that if any girl had leggings on to send them to the office for dress code. Up until that day girls were allowed to wear leggings if they had a shirt long enough to cover their butt, but all of a sudden it was a problem no matter if they did have a long enough shirt. There was a line of girls out of the office and wrapped around one of our hallways all the way until 4th period. Our principal told them they should be ashamed of themselves. It was ridiculous that all of these girls had to miss out on their education bc of something so stupid.
The principal should be be ashamed for sexualizing their bodies and acting as if what they’re wearing is more important than their education.
My school has uniforms and I frequently point out that my school should be trying to educate me not be the fashion police,but they always ask me “does it effect you that much”,and it makes me so mad.i hate how society tells people what they have to wear and act like etc...and it does effect me we have to stop in the middle of class in 2nd period to make sure we’re “following the dress code”and it wastes class time.while i could be learning someone has to measure how far my pants are from my hips.they also say that everyone else is wearing it so I shouldn’t be hesitant to wear it but i don’t want to be like everyone else I don’t want to be cookie cutter perfect I want to express my individuality through my clothing.i understand that this is a 3rd world problem and I’m lucky to have an (almost) free education but where will we be if we don’t try to progress further through society.🤷🏼♀️ just my thoughts

we have a uniform to look presentable but if we wear black trainers we get sent home

This one school my friend went to had teachers and students wear uniforms so if a stranger arrives on campus they will know because they aren't wearing a uniform.

PREACH. At my sisters highschool the cheerleaders uniforms are extremely revealing. They take a small lean over a desk and you can see their underwear bright as the sun. No one tells them to put on shorts and no one makes the uniforms a little longer. A friend of my sisters wore a plan t-shirt to school and got a weeks detention because the shirt was cut too low. As if her collar bone screams "SEXY". As if her collar bone would turn on a man more than a cheerleaders underwear. At my jr high the dress code is really strict. We have to wear a collage shirt, a collared shirt, or a spirit shirt. If we wear shorts they have to be jeans and they have to go to the knee. We can't wear any other pants but jeans and they can't have holes. If the jeans have designs we get dress coded. As much as this dress code pisses me off, what makes me really mad is they tell us at the beginning of the year no athletic shorts (basketball shorts basically) but teachers favorites and teachers kids come to school in basketball shorts almost everyday. A friend of mine comes to school out of dress code everyday and never gets dress coded, If i came to school in what she wore i would be dress coded the second i made it off the bus. The dress code is not only restricting but it's unfair

The stupidity of a thing called "dress code".
I run for most of my sports and like the guys I like to take off my shirt when I run, but I am told to put my shirt back on by the male principle because he and all the "other boys" can keep their eyes off the sport bra that I am wearing, even though a sports bra is considered an outer garment.
