I have never cried so much , this was thee most beautiful reminder of my shared pain . I am now an adult but these feelings never faded away for me so I have been admiring poetry to deal with these demons of my past and i just have to say thankyou lex .
I am performing the first time next week and stumbled upon this while looking for examples of performances…That is what I call a happy accident that made me cry
My mom is the same way, keep creating art 🎭 it really helps with the depression to just get your feelings out. Also I suffer from crippling anxiety from the way I was raised. It's great that you are able to get up on stage and do that, I hope it helps with your anxiety 👍

Just because she is my own mother, doesn’t mean the situations and experiences she put me through aren’t real and valid. This poem is written by a hurt, scared, and vulnerable 15 year old. Poetry allows for the creative outlets to process and heal, and allows others to do so also just by watching(just look through this comment section!). If you don’t like something, you can scroll next time :-). I’m not ashamed of myself , and am actually quite the opposite. I’m proud of myself and ANY ONE who has stopped the generational curse of alcoholism or neglectful or abusive households.
You must be joking. Leave this intelligent young woman alone! She has been through so much and is clearly venting through her writing and poetry and she’s got real talent. This most likely gives her something to live and be excited for in a world where her mom hasn’t let her be a child. Seems like you’ve never dealt with addiction. In all reality you’re the only one who should be ashamed of themselves for saying this to a struggling teenager.
@@Lex-rw2oe you are absolutely fabulous. And so strong! I wish I had such a good head on my shoulders at your age. My dad has been a high functioning alcoholic for my entire life, it’s not our faults but sometimes sure feels like and it and def leaves a huge impact. Learn from her mistakes. Keep writing. You are worth it, you will succeed I can feel it in my heart. You’ve got soul kid, you’re wise beyond your years and you deserve every good thing that will come your way. Most importantly I’m proud of you, your teachers are proud of you. Most people in these comments are. Much love girl. All the best ❤️
@@beanmoo thank you for your kind words. This poem was written and performed almost 8 years ago! Isn’t that crazy? I’m now 23, married, raising my beautiful daughter, and proud to say I’ve broken the generation cycles I grew up with ❤️
"Drinking us an addiction worse than drugs cuz it's legal" that hit close to home...almost every parental I have has or us drinking

The first thing I said as I put this on is “I really don’t want to relate to this”...I relate to this..
You can really feel how she felt towards her mother’s problems and her addictions
This hits me hard I'm crying

Ok so who is this woman and where can I find more of her work?
I wonder if Mom was in the audience.
What I have learned is everything I'm annoyed with is just silly
Instead of my mom it was my dad
Hmm presumably you've considered putting this or other works to music? yes? no?
I haven’t too much. I am not too musically gifted 😅 though the thought has ran through my head before

It’s not about you. She’s the one with a problem. Just be there. Don’t make poems about downing your own mother. You should be ashamed of your self
