I have several of those Ultra Pro slabs and I really like them too. You do have to be really careful with them because like their smaller baseball card holder brothers they scratch really easy. You can buy bags to keep them protected but that's up to you. I created some label stickers for the top part of the removable front face to give the slab a more official look. I'm like you I don't have too many slabbed books from CGC or CBCS because I'm not all that wild about sending books out to get graded but I do like displaying my books!!! Cool video thanks for sharing.

Nice in depth review, cool. I was thinking on settling with Gator Guards because of how nice and clean they look as if almost close to CGC or CBCS but without the grading labels on.
But the product you just reviewed looks better in ways you don't have to deal with screws to screw each corners of the case like Gator Guard has, but seeing this just seems right and simple especially the fact that top two corners are magnigtised and the bottom with two flaps to key in the two slots to secure the case and easy open and close access to your comicbook without the hassle.
And on top of that a bag and board as the board itself is sealed within the bag to prevent the comicbook from touching the board which gives the comicbook extra protection as it fits well in the case is a nice touch and a good idea. Ultra Pros and Comic Preserves, i just might look into those instead. Nice.

Great stuff! I have a dozen or so of these and they work great! Their popularity has grown and I’ve seen them go from around $14 to $19+ in a matter of weeks!

diamond corners means the inner corners are set back so they don't make contact with the comic corners or damage your comics corners.

I just ordered some of these, looks like it's exactly what I'm looking for. I have a few books that I just want to keep preserved more for sentimental reasons rather than wanting a grade on them

I think UltraPro is making a mistake with those all in one bag boards. If the board is kept away from the book, why not just go with a clear backer so that you can see the back side of the comic. The opaque paper acids free board (there are alternatives) is normally a trade off for protection, but it is irrelevant if they aren’t touching.

I just found my old box of comics from the 90's and couldn't believe there doesn't seem to be any option to buy Slabs similar to what the grading companies use? I don't care about grading, but I'd like a permanent way to preserver my 'old' books other than the 'top loaders' that I see available at my LCS...

I'm still looking for a good option that would provide some uv protection to keep from fading while displayed and be less expensive.I'm not interested in grading or permanently sealing, so until I find a good option I'm still using hard top loaders

@@joeyb6285thanks... I've thought about those but I have a hard time justifying that much on a comic holder when I can get 10 or so top loaders for that cost. My new comic room doesn't have my displayed comics exposed to natural light now, so I may just stick with them until I find less expensive options

Here's my main issue......CBCS can provide me with a legit grade and label along with a professional slab. Cost of submission is $18.........Now, I can buy a lesser slab like Comic Skin or the one touch for the same price or more? ..........But.......WHY? lol......I will admit I bought 5 comic skins for around 86 plus shipping..I wont ever do it again.

I think for some people there is a fear of shipping the comic in for grading. For those these would be a good alternative. Personally I wish CGC or CBCS would have more pickup location where we can personally drop off the comic for grading. I would be happy to drive a couple hours to do that than to ship the comics.

You can "grade" at a cost, but you can't read the damn things after you do.
The other cases allow you to open/read the books.

Great review. There's another case that came out recently, saw it at a local comic-con. Called the GatorGuard. It uses colored bolts/screws for a cool look. It has some good weight and looks like it really protects a comic well. Pretty solid alternative. th-cam.com/video/pTpLDoja414/w-d-xo.html
