The good old days, I had just landed in Dubai. I was 4 years old then. Miss the 90’s in Dubai. So many golden memories.
Dubai is so different now and not the same anymore.

Question, what were the modern areas in Dubai around this time? were there any? most of these look really old areas of the working class. I know in other cities in the region like Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Kuwait city, Jeddah etc... there were many modern areas with expensive shopping streets and expensive shopping malls, I know this because I use to visit all these cities back in the 90's, unfortunately I did not go to Dubai at that time, so I have no idea if it had any modern and expensive areas?

Even I also used to live in Dubai from 1998 ( since birth ) to 2009. When I was 11 years old, we moved to India due to financial crises.

No, in 1993 there were several, Bur Juman had already opened in 1991 and became the biggest mall in the Gulf, Al Ghurair was from 1980. There were many small malls like galleria mall, palm strip plaza mall which opened in the 1990s. Dubai's first mall was actually opened 1975 or 76, called Al Mulla plaza

Not much changed in Dubai happened between 1983 and 1993, There is a video on youtube showing the exact same locations in 1983, 10 years earlier then this video, however the change between 1973 and 1983 was huge, and also the change after 1993 to 2003 was also huge

On that we used to spent only 200 to 300 dhs per month for overall bachelor expenses. Now a days its impossible, very expensive, nothing is free here. You have to pay for medical, room, food parking, license, insurance, utility bills, expensive food, petrol, salik etc
