    Visualize the fretboard, master scales and play through changes like a pro with intervallic functions!
    ‣ Solo is a revolutionary practice tool designed by world renowned fusion guitarists Tom Quayle and David Beebee.
    ‣ One of the biggest barriers to improvising on guitar is finding and mapping out the relevant chord tones and scales all over on the fretboard in real time.
    Solo is a highly focussed app for developing your note finding and visualization ability on the guitar. There is no time-based pressure and Solo reduces the cognitive load of having to choose which ‘notes/intervals’ to play. As you get quicker at finding these ‘notes’ you will conversely get better at choosing them whilst improvising. Players of all ability levels will reap huge benefits from practicing with Solo.
    ‣ Using common progressions, Solo presents you with one chord symbol or scale at a time and asks you to find and play a series of notes based on their intervallic function.
    ‣ Solo listens to the notes you play, analyzes them in real time, and doesn’t move on until you’ve correctly found each note by its intervallic function in the specified order.
    ‣ This process builds strong fretboard visualization for the most powerful, efficient and malleable way to KNOW your way around the fretboard no matter how difficult the chord changes are.
    As a unique and powerful ear training tool, Solo also develops your ability to not only visualize what you’re playing, but hear it in real time too.
    If you know your note names but struggle to learn new scales, play through chord changes or find yourself stuck in pattern based playing, practicing diligently with Solo will be transformational for your knowledge of the fretboard and subsequently your ability to outline harmony when you improvise.
    ‣ CHANGES PLAYING TRAINER
    Practice finding intervallic functions over a series of chord changes based on common and popular chord progressions. Solo is programmed with all the knowledge behind the scenes to understand jazz and popular music harmony and will always pick appropriate intervallic functions based on the harmony of the progression.
    ‣ SCALE TRAINER
    Practice finding intervallic functions within scales on the fretboard. Solo includes all the modes of the Major, Melodic Minor, Harmonic Minor and Harmonic Major scales, plus pentatonic and symmetrical scales. Seeing and finding scale tones as intervallic functions will transform your ability to manipulate and improvise with scales in real time.
    ‣ TUTORIALS
    Solo also includes video tutorials to get you started with intervallic functions, how to find them on the fretboard, using Solo for ear training and how to get the most from your practice time with the app.

      Hi Guitarizmo, very good tip. I wonder, if you could go straight from guitar cable into Android phone headphone/mic input, just using 3.5mm jack on the other side.... or is the iRig required?

    • @slinkyfrets
      @slinkyfrets 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@graycolors2879 Mmmmm.... I'm not sure... It would require a very special cable I guess.... You just want to use the mic input of the mic/headphones 3.5 input I understand? Seems unlikely, but I really dont know.

    • @graycolors2879
      @graycolors2879 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@slinkyfrets yes I'd like to use mic input of the mic/headphones 3.5 input. As I understand you use the same input in your case, the only difference being that you use iRig? I can make this "special" cable, that would send signal from guitar into the 3.5mm input jack. The question is, is the signal strong enough so that SOLO would hear it, and most important - will SOLO hear what's coming through 3.5 input microphone?

    • @slinkyfrets
      @slinkyfrets 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@graycolors2879 Interesting.... It would seem that the iRig doesnt "amplify" the signal in any way... Its probably just splitting the mic input and the headphone output. Based on that, this special cable should work, I guess? Mind you Im not very electronics savy, so there might be something else going on that Im unaware of...You should try it. Then again you can buy an iRig from Aliexpress for a couple of bucks...:-)

    • @graycolors2879
      @graycolors2879 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@slinkyfrets so you plug iRig into headphones/microphone 3.5mm input of your smartphone? I will try it that way: I will buy cheap wired headphones with built-in microphone 3.5mm, I will cut the cable where microphone is on one side, and I will connect guitar cable tip to this cable (I may also connect guitar's ground sleeve to headphones ground). I'll come back with the results :-)

    Hi - do you happen to know if this will work with a Focusrite Scarlett? I believe its class compliant, and if I understand correctly, I would need to get a dongle to connect the lightning port on the iphone to the USB input into the Scarlett (which happens to be USB-C). Is this correct?

    • @marcelchaloupka
      @marcelchaloupka 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use a Focusrite Scarlet 18i8 and it works fine. It will even do 192khz if you use AUM with it Focusrite claim it doesn’t work but it does for me. You don’t need to use AUM if you are not interested in 192khz. I also have the XSonic Xtone Pro which is very good and again is 192khz. The benefit of the Xtone is it’s bus powered and has midi switches that can be used to control audio software such as AUM, Bias Effects etc of midi capable floor pedals. I’m not sure if you get better head room on the Xtone if it’s externally powered but it’s post that it does just like many other bus powered devices the perform much better when powered externally. Also there is less mucking around with the Xtone , USB cable and a guitar cable and you’re done. Either way it all works but as we move to an ampless world, I’d get the Xtone as you can use it live on stage and build you pedal board around it.
      The Xtone comes with a lightning dongle which has a USB-A and USB-C port. If you want to plug a iPad Pro to the Xtone you’ll need a USB-c to USB-B cable. If you use the Scarlet then you’ll need a proper USB-C cable.

    FYI If you have a Focusrite Scarlet Solo, the XLR input is the one that the app uses. That is considered input 1. I needed to purchase a 1/4" male to XLR male cable and it works perfectly.

    • @JoelQuin
      @JoelQuin ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm sorry I feel this is a dumb question but I'm confused. I have an interface that lives by my computer that stays plugged into my computer. If I want to use that interface to also plug into my iphone to use the app, am I to unplug the usb from my computer and plug that into the phone? Or could I somehow have 2 usb cables split off the interface? The interface only has one usb port. I didn't really want to unplug it from the computer, but to plug into my phone is that what's necessary?

    I love the app but I wish there was some indication (visual or otherwise) of whether it was using the microphone or a connected DAW. I'm trying to get my Focusrite USB-C device working with a new iPad Air, and it's not working even though the iPad is properly powering the focusrite. From the app though I don't know what it's trying to use...and seeing the calibration fail (because no notes are detected) is the only clue that something isn't working.

I think I have a problem with my Presonus Audiobox iTwo because it is not working with my iPhone 11 pro (the Presonus uses too much power I guess) I think it is cool that it also works with the microphone but it is much more accurate when it can be connected so I am searching for another way to get it connected.

      @@tomquayleguitar Thank you Tom, I have a question about this. When connected through the Audio interface of the Spark, do I still have to allow the mic to be on? I mean, iPhone --> Settings, Privacy, Microphone, SØLO, Slide on/off. Sorry maybe this is a stupid question. I wanted to make sure that I was connected through the Audio interface so I turned the slide of the microphone off in the settings of the iPhone but then the app couldn't calibrate because apparently it has to be on to calibrate? At this moment I can do all the exercises but I am not sure if SØLO hears the notes I play because of the mic or because of the fact that I am connected through the Spark. Hope this all makes sense... :-/

    • @SoloApp
      @SoloApp  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jos, yes the way iOS works means that to access the signal from the microphone or connected device it needs to be turned on. If plugged into the interface and calibration completes you can be pretty confident it's working with the interface. A test would be to sing the notes or play it on another guitar, if it triggers, then it's still using the microphone.

      Hey Anthony, sadly Android broke USB audio support over the summer for many many interfaces. This affects not just solo but any use of USB audio within apps. Guitar effects like the Helix and Fractal FM3 are affected, but so are some standard interfaces like my Presonus. Your Steinberg may fall into this too. We're still trying to figure it out, but it may be out of our hands until either an OS update or manufactures firmware updates.

There doesn't appear to be any indication that my interface is connected or not connected, other than, solo does or does not sense the notes easily.... maybe I'm missing something? I don't see how I'm supposed to know that I have my interface connected successfully?... even after calibrations... it appears that my focusrite 4i4 is NOT connected.... after following all the advice given... including having DC power to my HUB and using a iPhone dongle.... very frustrating...
