I came to the comments to say something about that. It's nice actually to get a break from that, and see listen to a story about life that stands on its own, not in comparison to a tragic death.
"Be proud of yourself" Those words always strike a chord with me. We always hear that we should "dream big", that we should all touch the very stars, and that if we don't, we're not living up to our potential. But if you're just getting by, happy with your life, providing for a family, and doing something that benefits people, the makes the world better, even just a little bit, then dammit, that's something worth being proud of. Give a friendly wave to sanitation workers, a kind thanks to the mailman, tip your wait staff well, and ease up on the tax collector; they're just people, like you and me, making a living and getting by in this crazy world.
I work in a medical clinic and as a Hospital housekeeper/Janitor and now, looking back at this video it really speaks to me. I love the job and am truly blessed to have it.
People inspire to be doctors and lawyers and CEOs and that's good you should dream and aim as high as possible but never look down on someone for these kind of jobs because without them life would be a lot more difficult for all of us they are blessings keeping our streets clean, our communities safe and our world a better place.
But being a garbage man is one of the most under-appreciated jobs on the planet. And I won't job, where I spend the rest of my life, being taken for granted.
Sigh it's good to know someone here understands. Even I myself don't just want cash, I want a job where I can earn everyone's trust and respect like these guys did!
ive been a sanitation worker, it is the most thankless job you could ever imagine! Dirty diapers, medical waste, old paint and chemicals was just another day on the job. Talk about rain sleet or snow you work in it all! The worst part would be if you bust your ass from the crack of dawn to mid afternoon and pick up someones filth and they call to complain that there trash bin was out of place or too far from the curb, that got to me. Everyone just thinks the garbage magically disappears overnight but its the hard working men and women who make this world a livable place. My point is this, get to know your garbage men, thank them if you get the chance or the best was if someone would leave a thank you note on there bins. it means the world to us.
czoraa21, its like all other public service workers, without you guys, we'd be a riot ridden, #1 polluted nation, dirt roads, no transport to hospitals, and no crews to put out fires. All public service and goverment service workers should be thanked, especially sanitation.
czoraa21 i used to do gigs with sanitation. Id work ten hour shifts picking up garbage and people didnt really talk to you, but I did get a couple of thanks for what it is. Now for somebody whos doing 30 years of it? Thats a good hard working man who deserves alot of respect.
I just wanna say thank you for the work you do. A lot of people don’t understand what you do for communities, but I know you’re an important part of life. You get dirty to make the world a cleaner place.
That line from Angelo's previous partner really hits me, even to this day. It really goes to show how some normal, everyday jobs can really help so much. Some amazing wisdom from some amazing people.
"I think I could'a done another 31 years" that line hits me for some reason. Especially from someone who has a job that not usually seen from society as an example of "success" (whatever that means). It just warms my heart to see that love can come from anywhere.
I agree with you, yet I don't mean to nag but it's not just "American" y'know? They're just good everyday conversations. They can happen all over the world. We have these amazing folk anywhere to thank for them. 😉
I am just Coming back to say that I am SO so happy this is beginning to fall under people’s radar. Storycorps has been a favorite channel for me to revisit from time to time for years and I was always disappointed in the lack of recognition it received. Thank you all for giving them a watch!
After watching a couple StoryCorp videos, I can honestly say they have the most realistic yet heartwarming representations of love in all its forms on youtube. Keep maing stuff like this, it's comforting to watch when you have a bad day :)
As someone who currently works as a part time custodian for a middle school this story hits me hard. Its not the most glamorous job or the best paying one but its honest work and every day I clean the classrooms the teachers always say how they appreciate how well I clean. I was recently in a car accident (Im fine btw) and the day I went back to work everyone of my co workers and some teachers asked how I was and if I was ok. It felt...nice to know people care about you and what you do. honestly im probably gonna miss working there when I find a better job eventually.
Reminds me of the study they did on Job vs Career vs Calling. No matter WHAT you think you calling is, do it! Not everyone is happy being a movie star or doctor. Some people recognize their sense of pride in even the little things. And that's not a bad thing. Thanks for all the people who are proud of the little things they do to make life wonderful for themselves and others.
I hope that my retirement from the railroad will be like this. Have a lot of good friends, good memories, and most of all, a lot of years filled with fun.
Always make sure to Thank sanitation workers! I always thank the hospital housekeepers as they help run the show with everyone in their role they're important just as nurses are, doctors are and all staff are!
Imagine the huge jobs people do that just go unthought of. Night before trash day, you put it out and someone comes picks it up. Your mail get delivered whether it's sunny, rainy, snowy. I always make sure to wave and my waste management guys and talk to my mailmen. They're super under appreciated.
This is a truly beautiful story. A job where you actually help the world: Thankless or not! Where you have a true friend and partner to get through difficulties. And when you're happy enough to spread love and joy and kindness just enough to get it back.
I think I got a lot more respect for garbage collectors since visiting Guyana. There's no sanitation system there (at least the part I was in), and according to my mum's old caretaker, the best you can do is give some cash to a local kid on a bike to cycle your trash off somewhere, which, most likely will be someone else's house, a person who very well might pay the kid to drive all the garbage right back to you. After experiencing the ever-present smell of plastic, it really makes it appreciable to live in a clean area.
These are great stories. Stories of people you'd normally never hear and it just makes you tear up sometimes cause it shows that there are plenty of good people despite the troubles we have sometimes in the world.
Gosh what the older sanitation worker said to him about taking pride in your self for cleaning up the street was really powerful. Now that’s a really good message to teach to people
So wholesome. Good people out there living good lives making other peoples lives good. Wish we heard more stories like this, highlighting more people like deez two jamokes
This is nice, the higher ups don't appreciate the hard work of the working class. Please have respect for people like them, after all if everyone were kings and emperors who would be taking care of the land and growing food, keeping the streets clean and teaching the masses? Remember everyone appreciate the work of people like these. From first responders, teachers, sanitation workers, retail workers, and even cooks. Appreciate these guys, they do a lot for all.
I'm a garbage man myself so I can really relate to this story. There is nothing better than when people talk to us and tell us we are doing a good job.
I've been watching these videos lately and I have to admit that they give me a little hope in myself and on others. I think to myself: "Hey the world isn't that bad..."
I was 5 years old and I saw this big bulky bald guy come take our trash every Friday, one day I went out to say hi and the dude looks at me and asks if I want to put the trash in the car myself,he leads me to the panel and I got to push the button which lifts the trash into the truck, still remember it to this day,it’s the small shit that counts and the people who take care of the small things makes this country run
This is so lovely! I can never get enough of your videos. We are all stories. Nowadays every stranger looks interesting and I can't help but wonder about everyone I pass no matter how normal they may seem. I wonder what lives they have lived and what stories they hold. Thank you for your amazing work!
Wow with the Seen throw up on the garage door! Kudos to whoever's animating for paying awesome attention to detail! Especially love the animations for Danny in Danny and Annie, too good.
You gotta hand it to people who have to do one of the most seemingly unappealing jobs, and make it something meaningful. I respect guys like them. These guys make our lives easier, and we should show them kindness.
I love this channel so much. Clicking on one of these videos is like standing in a narrow tunnel with a feel train charging directly at you. You can't dodge it.
Every Christmas/holiday season, I always give $50-$100 to both my sanitation worker and my mailman. They work their asses off to give a service that so many take for granted. And it's true, if I see the mail man or the guy coming to take my trash, they always just say "how ya been" "how's your day going" "have good weekend". These wonderful people do us a great service that we don't think about much, but our lives would be so different without them
StoryCorps gets me through my day. Please, never stop doing this. It's just something about each story that just gets me in a good mood every time. Huge shoutout to actor Chris Evans. (You know, Captain America)... He once tweeted a story. Been hooked ever since. Peace & love to us all! ✌😊
What a beautiful story. Love that about US garbage trucks you can ride along on the back of them. Can't do that in the UK, have to jump in and out of the cab.

Rudeness dies when watching a story corps :)
I came to the comments to say something about that. It's nice actually to get a break from that, and see listen to a story about life that stands on its own, not in comparison to a tragic death.

Sigh it's good to know someone here understands. Even I myself don't just want cash, I want a job where I can earn everyone's trust and respect like these guys did!
A wise comment and a true one.
Also cause some people don't want to be lawyers or doctors.some people are happy we're they are :)

It's like clockwork at this point.
Bryant Mitchell They're sneaking chopped onions into your home!

Bryant Mitchell I think it's the beauty of the animation that pushes me over the edge.

American stories are so heartwarming ik that America isn’t perfect and we have our flaws but we’re human
I hope your words still ring true to this day, I hate how divided news has us why can't they be more like StoryCorps and show the good in people
I agree with you, yet I don't mean to nag but it's not just "American" y'know? They're just good everyday conversations. They can happen all over the world. We have these amazing folk anywhere to thank for them. 😉
@@onceagain569 Well anyone can argue our strength is diversity but people can just easily fight that opinion
@@nickirmen6671 I know what you mean..
Why does this remind me so much about mario and luigi?
Mabel Pines whell maybe the mustache and when you think of those cinde of jobs you usualy think plumer and that stuf and they are licke a brothers
Maybe the fact that Angelo is an italian name?
I am just Coming back to say that I am SO so happy this is beginning to fall under people’s radar. Storycorps has been a favorite channel for me to revisit from time to time for years and I was always disappointed in the lack of recognition it received. Thank you all for giving them a watch!
Our people who work countless hours to keep our streets clean deserve so much better. They make our cities beautiful.
“Look behind you... be proud of yourself”
NYC seems to have a better community than my small town.

After watching a couple StoryCorp videos, I can honestly say they have the most realistic yet heartwarming representations of love in all its forms on youtube. Keep maing stuff like this, it's comforting to watch when you have a bad day :)
I know this was 5 years ago but I still like watching these things
Ah bloody hell, these blokes made me cry. I'd love to be able to catch a drink with these guys.
As someone who currently works as a part time custodian for a middle school this story hits me hard. People forget about these kinds of workers. They are important.
Damn it, even the happy videos on this channel make me cry!
We often overlook our *ESSENTIAL Workers* 🙂
I completely forgot that these videos existed until they turned up on my new TH-cam channel's feed years later! So happy!
I like really do like these stories they remind me they're are still good people and I guess I don't get enough off that
I like how they drew the pigeon and the rat hugging each other. So cute!!

Awww... so sweet...
Lovr a person who takes a pride in their craft
I hate all those fake animation stories but these ones seem to be true, I appreciate you and what you guys do!!
Always make sure to Thank sanitation workers! I always thank the hospital housekeepers as they help run the show with everyone in their role they're important just as nurses are, doctors are and all staff are!
I know it's an old comment, but as a hospital housekeeper, I want to thank you for that :)
This was so sweet. Two guys, brought together through a job, who found common ground and became great friends. We could all wish to be so lucky.
TH-cam needs more channels like this, this is just the dose of wholesome I needed.
stunningly, simply, wonderfully beautiful, yet again. well done.
This video is Golden!!!
Makes me PROUD to be a PUBLIC SERVICE WORKER!!!!
Imagine the huge jobs people do that just go unthought of. Night before trash day, you put it out and someone comes picks it up. Your mail get delivered whether it's sunny, rainy, snowy. I always make sure to wave and my waste management guys and talk to my mailmen. They're super under appreciated.
This gave me the shimmer of hope I needed today.
I hope I have a friendship like this in the future
God dang, it tugs at the ol' heart strings there. Thank ya Eddie and Angelo for all your years of hard work :)
God I love this episode, always get a little weepy since both of these two seem to embody the idea of "best friends."
Favorite channel uploads on a long day Amazing way to end a day thank you
I love this story so much, because it truly shows us that value of simply loving your job, no matter what that job is.
every time those story's brighten my day or remind me of what i have, it is truly touching
This is a truly beautiful story.
A job where you actually help the world: Thankless or not!

the way he says cup of coffee speaks so much to me
I hope one day to have a friendship like this
Beautiful old man relationship. They're just... connection like that is rare. But it is beautiful to see and hear about.
Mario & Luigi's expressions seem like a tribute to Chuck Jones. The Grinch and Marc Anthony, the bulldog, come to mind.
Oh my god every story is so heartwarming it makes me think there’s faith in humanity
I hope Angelo is still enjoying his retirement.
These are great stories. Stories of people you'd normally never hear and it just makes you tear up sometimes cause it shows that there are plenty of good people despite the troubles we have sometimes in the world.
it’s such a charming story really.. an from two garbage guys-the last you’d expect it from. sets a reminder that everyone has a story, a life to share
Gosh what the older sanitation worker said to him about taking pride in your self for cleaning up the street was really powerful. Now that’s a really good message to teach to people
These people are the unsung heroes of our communities, especially in today's society.
one of my favorites
What a wonderful story, it got me to think about how many people actually don't get recognized for their work.
Always love your uploads. Thank you for another.
even in 2019, I still love these guys and their story.
Same dude :,)
So wholesome. Good people out there living good lives making other peoples lives good. Wish we heard more stories like this, highlighting more people like deez two jamokes

Keep up the great work Story Corps
I love animation shorts. They are always perfect in every way.
I'm a garbage man myself so I can really relate to this story. There is nothing better than when people talk to us and tell us we are doing a good job.
They’re so nice, also “we got nuns on our a... you know” about to curse as he’s talking about nuns🤣
Hooray! There's a new story!
I've been watching these videos lately and I have to admit that they give me a little hope in myself and on others. I think to myself: "Hey the world isn't that bad..."
The bromance in this video was at an all time high.
FINALLY!! A new StoryCorps! :)
It's people like Angelo and Eddie that make the world seem a little less filthy.
In more ways than one!
This channel is way better then those fake story time channels where there like oh my gosh my aunt died and her ghost came to me.
So happy to see a new one!
Absolutely lovely. Love you Storycorps. :)

I really like this story. All your stories are amazing, but this one really helps me when I'm feeling down.
thank you

Friendship and a lesson got it all
Every Christmas/holiday season, I always give $50-$100 to both my sanitation worker and my mailman. They work their asses off to give a service that so many take for granted. I always loved the brotherly bond that guys share. Especially ones that last for 31 years like here.
I love this! I never really thought how important a garbage man was.
StoryCorps gets me through my day. Please, never stop doing this. It's just something about each story that just gets me in a good mood every time. Huge shoutout to actor Chris Evans. (You know, Captain America)... He once tweeted a story. Been hooked ever since. Peace & love to us all! ✌😊
it's the little things in life, that makes me happy!
These are good men. It's also nice to finally hear about sanitation workers getting the community appreciation they deserved
i drive for Waste Management, my youngest daughter sent me this...🚛...........♥❤🧡💛💚
Sanitation workers are soooo important! *Thank you for all that you do*
Always beautiful
What a beautiful story.
Love that about US garbage trucks you can ride along on the back of them. Can't do that in the UK, have to jump in and out of the cab.
