Yes, there was a lot of time spent on this project. Hours on the tablesaw, hours on the planer, hours on the drum sander. In the end, it's not hard, just time consuming.
I've always loved the look and feel of butcher block. When I installed wood flooring I intentionally made it as uneven as possible so the I sorta have a 'butcher block floor'. Amazing piece of work. IMHO it deserves more than just those metal pole legs. It's a work of art and should be in some dining room someplace. To make it out of just 'scraps' was just incredible. Nice work!

That needs to be a dinner room table, it is way too nice for a wood shop. I love the various colors of woods and how thin the wood used. The detail is really shown when you see how thin the wood is used to make this beauty table. You are very talented.

It just shows that You love what u do and if you made this video to inspire than inspire u did !! Thanks for posting this project.
A piece of fine art! Just gorgeous. My husband made so much beautiful furniture when our kids were small, and 25 years later it all badly needs refinishing, but he’s not interested anymore. So I have to learn how to do it. It’s a crime to just let it get rough and ugly. He’s got piles of scrap wood too. I hope he’ll get interested watching me do it.
As a carpenter for decades, I really appreciate all the contrast between the species used in the make up...Very cool look and very contemporary too...And, all out of scrap! Thanks for the idea...I have a shit ton of that laying around..>:)

Man, that is a gorgeous piece! I'd be tempted to take the legs off and hang it on the wall, because that really is a work of art. Then again, there is nothing wrong with art in the shop - it does wonders for one's attitude and outlook. Great build! :)
Hey Brian, I had the DeWalt planer, then sold it to my brother because he needed one, and I really wanted a spiral head cutter planer, so I then bought the cutech one. This table is used as my main work table, and I'm happy that it's staying in the shop. It's almost been like a magic trick in a sense because I'd say about 80% of it is made out of poplar, which I got for free, but since I threw in a couple pieces of purple heart and padauk, everyone thinks it is a bunch of expensive woods. Anyways, this table serves me very well to build other projects on everyday. And someday 40 years from now, it will show that it's lived a good life, and will still last well beyond that.
How anyone can leave negative comments is totally beyond me. This was a great build and I truly enjoyed watching it come it come to life. Kudos, you did a great job!

It's amazing what people will throw away at a construction site. A guy I work with got a free deck, about 1,000 square feet of Ipe wood that was only a couple years old, because the owners we're just going to throw it away! It's worth thousands
My family used to ask why I keep so many scraps, but if you're creative enough and you know how to use what tools you have, you will find uses. Maybe no right away, but it's there
I’m just coming across this video from 4 years ago. The table is stunningly beautiful. I’m going to attempt a table top with cut offs. I don’t have all of your amazing pieces of machinery. I do have a planer. Wish me luck.
This comment is hilarious. Because honestly there is some truth to that especially with somebody like my wife and Lord knows how much I love her that she sees something like this and she thinks it's done a whole lot quicker than what it is has no idea how much time and effort it takes to do something like this and make it look as good as he did. I mean this table is amazing in anybody that knows anything knows this takes some time but it's hilarious how yes my wife would expect it to be done in 10 minutes as well. Well I have news for her I can do one in 10 minutes but it sure as hell ain't going to look like that LOL
Thanks for watching, and please note: Yes, I know the frame is not ideal. You don't have to tell me how much you hate it. It is temporary, and it was not built for looks, the top was. I also just needed a frame that could quickly be disassembled. Have a nice day!

When you watch a how to video on the subject of woodworking, maybe next time assume a that woodworking project wil require essential woodworking tools…
Amazing woodworking there, as we all know, people love to hate and condemn those they simply do not understand. I always tell people, “ HOME depot, Lowes and a few more box stores sell the equipment, you should buy some and give it a go if I cant do it right. I like the clean edges you produces, bar clamps and glue are very difficult to achieve this level of joinery. You have talent Sir, it shows in your work. Awesome Job.
It's awesome! I'm loving it so far. I made a video on it. But maybe you've seen that, and you're asking for an update? But yes, it's great. Though the professional model I bought, is big and heavy.
Can you please do a review over the 8 in cutech jointer once you have used it for a while. I'm really debating whether to go with it or a grizzly. Just found your channel, and about to sub thanks.
It's a really beautiful table but when I saw you put the ugly pipe legs on that I shat myself and also: outfeed table?! You have got to be out of your mind. Make some beautiful legs and sell that sucker for $2000!
Man watching this reminds me of my very first cutting board I made in junior high shop class. Purple Heart is my favorite thank you for the trip down memory lane. Beautiful work sir.

I would have used dowels every six inches, however it is beautiful, well done.
No way it will be a problem. Modern glue is so strong and they are staggered naturally.
If it were 18-24" wide, it would never sag. It's just too wide for the thickinss. Gravity will win. It always wins.
This has got to be one of the most beautiful videos I've ever seen!

Cool so... i have all the scrap wood together, if someone could just lend me a few thousand for the tools, ill let you sit by my table?
Rent them......
When you watch a how to video on the subject of woodworking, maybe next time assume a that woodworking project wil require essential woodworking tools…
stunning

Amazing woodworking there, as we all know, people love to hate and condemn those they simply do not understand. I always tell people, “ HOME depot, Lowes and a few more box stores sell the equipment, you should buy some and give it a go if I cant do it right. I like the clean edges you produces, bar clamps and glue are very difficult to achieve this level of joinery. You have talent Sir, it shows in your work. Awesome Job.

Nice Project! What happened with the Cutech planer? Thinking of buying one but unsure.
It's awesome! I'm loving it so far. I made a video on it. But maybe you've seen that, and you're asking for an update? But yes, it's great. Though the professional model I bought, is big and heavy.
I also bought their 8" benchtop jointer which I like as well. Only have used it once so far though. But it's definitely more of a portable tool
Man you replied quickly that's awesome! I'm looking at the pro model. Would you recommend it over the DW planer?
Yes, I would. Although I did like my DeWalt, I sold mine to my brother and bought the cutech.
Can you please do a review over the 8 in cutech jointer once you have used it for a while. I'm really debating whether to go with it or a grizzly. Just found your channel, and about to sub thanks.
Un poco de todo

wood legs please!!
It would be perfect for a dining room table " puffffff "
It's a really beautiful table but when I saw you put the ugly pipe legs on that I shat myself and also: outfeed table?! You have got to be out of your mind. Make some beautiful legs and sell that sucker for $2000!
It's temporarily a work table. Deal with it 😜
I guess I'll have to!
Industrial pipe is what is in style ! Great job!
I use gas pipe for a lot of things . My wife is into it at the moment 🤔
You have turned pennies into dollars. But use it as an out-feed table. What a waste! Very nice top though.
It can still become my dining table someday. Just don't have room for it now.
Rojer Jula ikr
After this I never want to throw away any piece of wood! Very inspiring

i actually like it as an out feed table. It's been made from workshop scraps and hasn't cost anything but time and you get to look at it when making all other kinds of wonderful things. Nice work this is coming from a purpose made joiner of 12 years experience.
Exactly, thanks Paul! And it's not even just an outfeed table, I use it as my main work table too, I love it. You might like my new video as well. th-cam.com/video/EqeAOPCDumU/w-d-xo.html
