The first two maps and some of map03 were designed by Gusta, who also collaborated with Method to make a megawad called Kama Sutra. Maybe you should check it out if you enjoy his style.
Loved the first Plutonia as well, so I have to try this one now. I really dig these type of video's where you just do a first impression dive into a WAD. Good stuff!
I know what you mean about really getting into it. First time I got this WAD, I started playing through with Project Brutality and ended up playing for over 4 hours. It was just so good
I will repeat myself as many time as necessary but if you want to improve, stop saving so often especially middle of a fight. Just think of doom 2016 and doom eternal. Once you trigger the fight, you can't rely on save, you have to overcome it while improvising. Also saving mid fight leave you more often than so in a bad situation or in a bad position,it is better to fall back to an old save before a big fight start, this way you can come up with a new strategy at the opposite of just brute force your way. Also I will advise to not use quicksave but instead use manual save on different slot. First it make you think before saving and secondly you can have back up save because maybe you lost too many HP or ammo in a precedent fight/room .Don't think your save as time saver, think to it as checkpoint like in the new doom.
Are you gonna check out TNT Revilution next? You really should. As for Plutonia 2, for the second half of Plutonia 2, the Cyberdemons become more common. And by that, I mean that from map 15 to the end almost every single map contains 1 or several Cyberdemons. So that's that.
Howzit FP the difficulty was intentional in the starting 2 levels to draw the player into a false sense of relaxation then BAM you're in SH1T...As a long time Doom player from way back wen 93/94 this is lovely absolutely lovely, Excellent video many thanks :-)
Plutonia 2 is a pretty good wad. In fact, I wouldn’t have been offended if this replaced what ended up being the actual Plutonia. I don’t know why, but I seem to recall Plut2 having this stupid Super Mario grid-jumping thing on the last level that I HATED. It was some stupid guess-the-direction thing that resulted in your death if you made the wrong decision that had nothing in terms of hints of where to go. Those kinds of puzzles have absolutely NO business being in any game, let alone DOOM.
Plutonia 2 is by far my most favorite fan mad WAD. my favorite level & stage theme in the game being Black Ice, which I'm a sucker for snow & ice levels in Doom. one thing that I also really love with Plutonia 1 & 2 is the ammo case esthetic on the main Hud with the gunmetal color & the yellow paint. makes me think of Vietnam films such as Apocalypse Now. plus, the extra cherry on top of this amazing WAD is James Paddock's outstanding score, whose track record is legendary with so many great soundtracks to the DOOM series including this game.
It may have been mentioned, but I'd recommend sticking it out until you beat it. (or if you find you can't stand it later, look up a video or IDCLEV to Map30 as it has a non-standard final boss, and I still find it to be one of the creepier ones imo) I still remember AltimaMantoid's reason for not liking it as much being "It didn't feel like Plutonia" so I find it kinda ironic you find a lot of similarities to Plutonia.
You know what FP? I really appreciate your suggestions and opinions on wads, because i feel we share the same taste when it comes to Doom maps: We love Plutonia-like gameplay, we despise slaughtermaps. Thanks dude!
@@montezuma4353 Dude, slaughter maps are, tipically, the latter maps of Alien Vendetta, for example, where the enemy count ascends to almost a thousand. The only Plutonia map that could qualify as a slaughter, is MAP32.
@@montezuma4353 Only Map32 of Plutonia is anywhere near slaughter. By slaughter, I mean maps that have several 100s or even 1000s of enemies. Most of Plutonia's maps have less than 100 monsters. Plutonia (and Plutonia-like mapsets) rely on enemy placement rather than pure numbers for increasing difficulty.
Plutonia 2 start easier than the 1st one (no arch vile in the 1st map) but the 10 last map are way harder (also expect a fun but brutal map for map 32). If you want more plutonia-like action,I strongly advise you to finish plutonia 2 and test Plutonia revisited community project it's even closer to the OG feeling. Oh and if you like evil trap gameplay, I will repeat myself try Going Down.
I've had this downloaded for a while but still haven't played it lol I'm currently finishing speed of doom 😅 dude if you ain't a fan of slaughter give that one a miss it starts great but the second secret map is literally over a 1000 enemies in a courtyard but it was really intense and kinda cool I always preferred tnt to plutonia I prefer the adventure maps with shed loads of demons and exploring rather than the hardcore challenge maps but both have there place
Speed of doom map 32 is hard, but it's not the most monster fill, just try the 28 and will understand. Also my favourite map of SoD is kinda slaughter-lite ,the map 14.
@@johnspartan2096 yeah I've really been digging it I started it ages ago then got distracted by loads of other wads and recently got back to playing it it really is like a cross between plutonia and alien vendetta lol in terms of traps and levels and difficulty
@@ThaMrJoker88 Yep,at the opposite of AV speed of doom contains true slaughter moment, but they are shorter, prettier and also more fun because it involves a lot of spectacle instead of just a long drag. He has a very sarcastic tone. And all of his words linger on as if he's accentuating the word... but for every word. Weird speaking.

Great sequel, I agree with this. Plutonia 4 was amazing, too
@@valentetellezperez6538 Plutonia 7 the best of them all tho
I liked Plutonia 14 most of all. I like how all maps had nothing but lava floors and around literally every corner was a revenant or mancubus.

I am looking forward to Plutonia 3.14
