p238 "black pearl" that has been flawless like my shields and lcp's.
A family member and I do things in 2's-ha..Always look at the kimbers but remember the owners that are dissatisfied..I demand 100% reliability in my pistols and would kick myself if I bought one and had problems even though I was warned.
I've finally got my .25 colt "mighty mouse" running 100% but it has been not a hobby but a mission! I haven't seen a mouse in years and feed squirrels so haven't decided what to use it for--lol
Thanks Bill! It's been great to have the kids with me at the range. My Mother carries a Sig P238 and it's been great. Easy to rack and not too bad on recoil. But I also agree that a pistol that isn't 100% is a no go for CCW. Of course my Beretta 950 25 ACP is my favorite! lol!!
Same here I bought a micro 380 1 yr ago running a Kimber special.. Issues right out of the box. 2 so called repairs and finally sent back to kimber. It's finally shooting without a jam. Humm will be a backup ankle gun. Got my Daughter m&p shield instead. "FLAWLESS"!!!
When Kimber came out they were amongst the best in the business. They were Wilson, Les baer, etc quality. Imo you could spend more money but a better gun wasn't made. Their gunsmiths have since retired or expired . Now they are no better than anyone else and worse than most. But they still ride and charge on the name they built before. I would personally rather have a taurus pt1911. But price for price buy sig, s&w, Ruger. There's not many that's not a better deal. Kimber is more hit or miss than taurus
@bill pohman sir you mentioned the colt 25. You probably already know this but fie out out a ( THE BEST) 25ACP. it was made side by side on exact same machinery same factory. It's the same identical gun one was stamped fie THE BEST. other was stamped Colt. With fie now costing around half what the colt does. It use to be around a quarter cost. I actually gave. 60$ for mine because it says fie on it. That and a naa mini revolver are the 2 most carried guns I own. Even if I carry a bigger gun one of those is on me somewhere

Just purchased a Kimber Micro 9 and took it to the range without first cleaning it (I’ve never done this before) . 50 flawless rounds of 115 grain, zero malfunctions and very accurate with manageable recoil. Impressive right out of the box.

I got into handguns some 48 years ago because I love shooting and the aesthetics of the gun. It’s like owning a Rolex watch that can protect your life and look good at doing that. Perfect machinery! What holds companies like Kimber and others to that standard are honest reviews like this one being broadcasted over the Internet and consumers insisting on quality products and services. I purchased a Kimber and I had a problem with the safety which they rectified without question. It’s good to see Kimber stand behind its reputation and products. Funny that people buy kimbers cuz they're beautiful. I get it on a range gun, but for carry Ill pay less for all black models and only care for reliability. The thing ain't leaving my waistband unless to stop someone. It's not something I'm showing off to people 🙄
I've had a micro 9 for about two years and love it. Also have and love the ultra carry 45. Even tho my edc is a G26 I still carry them once in a while. My dad pocket carries his micro every day. Hey Sootch.....your kids inspired my daughter to ask for some range time tomorrow! Thanks brother!

I have the original Ultra Carry (with the MIM frame). 50,000 rounds through it, found a crack in one of the rails. Replaced the frame with a Caspian SS frame. Should be able to put another 100,000 round through it now. I will not buy or recommend Kimber now due to my personal inspections in the gun store (low quality build issues). Older Kimber guns, I would recommend.

Glad I watched this before picking up a micro 9 for edc. Really am loving it, it’s a well crafted firearm indeed.
I use one of these for my carry. I enjoy shooting it. The grip angle and sights make bringing up an excellent sight picture right away each time. No regrets purchasing this little guy. Great review as always!

I really like mine its my daily carry and very accurate it even has crimson trace grips which were spot on out of the box
Great video. I bought a Micro 9 CDP three days before you posted the video. I waited until after my 1st range trip to watch; glad I waited. Front strap serrations are beneficial and mine fed, fired, and ejected all the ammo I fed it; including Winchester White Box. Flush fit mags had no issues but I had the same issues with the 7-round mags. Also, my trigger is definitely heavier than yours.
I have this pistol in two tone and absolutely love mine yes the recoil is snappy but not uncontrollable I mean your not sharp shooting with but 10-15 yards very accurate . And man the action the action is smooth and to me the best trigger for the category 1000 rounds of federal so far no issues great little pistol

For sure the Kimber micro nine is a gorgeous , well made gun and a lot of fun to shoot. I use mine as one of my every day carry pieces. Just. wished it came with more than one mag.
I have this in 380 and love it.
Loved the review. I've had a Micro-9 for 8 months now, in fact the same you reviewed. The reliability issues I experiences were due to break in, specifically the magazine causing a failure to feed. It took almost 300 rounds to get everything broken in and feeling comfortable, in its reliability, to use as a full time CCW. Also, Kimber states that the micro-9 was designed for 124 gr premium loads. I haven't run into any issues running my 147 gr Speer lawman for practice and HST LE for carry but an interesting note. All and all, over 1000 rounds through it and I'm confident in with it and its reliability. I'm happy I chose this and not my usual Sig, I went in looking for a P938 and got a better deal on the Kimber.
Magilla 423 thank you for sharing. I have feeding problems with The Magazine on the micro 9 and my 1911. I was told that I have to pump about 500 rounds through each gun before Kimber will even look at it if something is wrong. Y next trip to the range I'm going to do just that.

Being a lefty, I can say that in my case, I've learned to adapt to the controls on a firearm. So, not having a safety or mag release on the right side of the grip is not a big deal.
I got the raptor version so I've got an ambi-safety. I've definitely gotten used to using my index finger for dropping mags tho.
I've had a full size 1911 Kimber for several years, one of my 1911's. I like it a lot, it's very accurate, like most 1911's. Couple of years ago when I was shopping for summer carry single stack 9mm, the Micro 9 was in the close competition, along with the Sig 938, the Shield and few more, until I settled for Walther PPS M2. I still have my G30S for heavier clothed carry.

I own both the micro 380 and the micro 9 . I extended that slide release and raised and extended the mag releases on both. Now I can operate both slide and mag releases without changing hand position. Mag changes can be done in less than half the time. Safety, mag and slide release all in one place.

I remember back when Para Ordnance released the Warthog 45 and I bought & carried one for many years before switching to a Kimber Pro Covert 2.
For all of those talking crap on this Firearm, I suspect 98% have never even held one. I get so tired of people spewing the same crap they heard somewhere, to make it seem like they know something. I own Glock, s&w, ruger, colt, etc., So not a Kimber fanboy by far, but I do own this pistol and am at roughly 400 rounds and not one failure...I repeat not one. Also, it is not uncomfortable to shoot. If you think it is then pick up a lcr in 357. That will show you what uncomfortable is. Lol Great and fair review Sootch!
Exactly! 500 rounds here without a single failure! And I'm a CZ guy myself! But this has turned out to be a great little gun and has saved my life in a couple of situations.
Thanks Brother! Looks like Kimber is not getting a lot of Love here! lol! I've heard both good and bad but all I can talk about and show is my experience. I really enjoyed shooting the Micro 9.
I can speak from experience as I owned MICRO 9 for over 2 years. My EDC goes between the KImber Micro 380 and the CZ RAMI. I liked the Micro 9 but I found it far less controllable than the 380 version which I load with ARX rounds. I had a slight quality issue as the front site fell off during the first 10 rounds in the gun I had to send it in and they gave me a entirely new slide, from then on it worked exactly as it should even eating garbage ammo {reloads, steel case you name it}. I traded it for a S&W43C just recently it is a really good gun just not what I was looking for.
IF LT JOE KENDA CAN SAY HE ALWAYS LOVED AND USED KIMBER'S THATS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME! THAT MICRO REALLY LOOKS NICE! GREAT REVIEW!
I can definitely speak from experience and my micro 9 wouldn't go 4 rounds, let alone 400 rounds without FTF, FTE, stovepipe, whatever....I tried over a dozen different types of ammo from 115, 124, 147, plus p, hyper self defense, etc...jamomatic.
Kimber is a well built firearm...right here in the USA. As my father would say "Hell for Stout"

I own the micro 9 and love it. 0 problems. It is snappy and you have to grip it hard.
I've worked my way through multiple CC pistols (including the HK VP9SK) before settling on the Micro 9 as my daily carry. It's size and quality being it's strongest selling points. No where near as comfortable or accurate as my VP9SK, but again, it's size (for OWB conceal carry) is ideal.

I did have some failure to eject problems with 118 grain ammo, Armscor 124 grain solved this, I did become aware that I might have been limp wristing the pistol so I fixed that. I did buy some Truglo Tfx pro sights that no one wants to install! I did put in a M*Carbo spring set that really helps an already awesome trigger pull! I think this is a great choice EDC along with a Crossbreed AIWB holster!
Just need to put some defense rounds through it feel good about proper cycling with them.

Most of the kimbers ive owned have suffered from problems when my friends/family shoot them and ride the recoil. I never had a problem myself, but if you dont hold them on target firmly, they will jam more frequently. Just what ive noticed.

Dead Wrong This is true.. and I have used my snubby by like that. But I wouldn’t use it as primary. The minute you fall to the ground with someone , you aren’t getting it out of a pocket.
@@TheTacticalHouse in that case I'm 5"10 , 256lbs and I was a phenomenal wrestler in grade school. I know how to use my bodies center mass against another human to trip them on their face very hard and run away. As now I'm older and carry firearms to protect myself. Preferring not to shoot anybody. I'll admit I sprained my shoulder sparring last weekend so I'm not the most accomplished striker for sure. But this is with 4oz gloves. But as to preferring not to carry a snub nose for accuracy reasons, they're definately not past 25 feet. But in the situation where I was charged with a knife I would have had it in my pocket and the confrontation would have ended sooner. For a primary I do keep the Ar platform in my vehicle.
@@TheTacticalHouse also if you stick a semi auto in a mans ribs theres a STRONG chance it will come out of battery by pushing the slide back on their body so the point of aim is hard generally unless you put the barrel on them as you would a knife in them idd imagine.

I bought a Kimber TLE2 a coupe years ago for a good price. So far, I really like it and have had almost no problem with it malfunctioning at all. Also, I own a Para Ordnance P12-45 LDA. I wasn't sure how is like a double stack 1911, but so far it's a nice shooting small 1911ish pistol that holds 12 rounds. The light double action feels similar to a sticker fired pistol.
My edc is a Colt Mustang XSP in same segment but preferred over this Micro, P238 or 911 but all are fantastic really.
Great video. I carry a G43 with a ets 9 round mag with a gripx adaptor and a Johnny glock carry trigger, Trijicon HD sights in a appendix rig every day.

Sootch-meister, thanks for the review. I have a Micro9 with Crimson Trace laser grips. Those grips eat batteries like crazy ! Just ordered some nice, VZ GRIPS to replace those CT grips. One thing though, the Micro9 kicks pretty good. However, I use it as a BUG. So the recoil isn't a big issue. Eats any ammo I give it.
why will gun makers not make a fully steel micro gun? that's what i want. i can't be alone in that regard.

I love the lines of the 1911, so of course I love the look of the Micro 9.
It does look like it could get uncomfortable to do extended shooting sessions with especially for someone like me that has arthritis in my wrists.

I have been carrying my micro 9 for about a yr. it’s a fantastic CCW handgun. Cocked and locked and ready to rock.. never had a malfunction in all the Ammo fired used.

Bill Colwell Bill, yes I do.. went I first got it the mag spring was very tight so I didn’t put the round in to fill the mag after cocking, but after having for a little while it loosened up some and I started putting the round in.. I often carry 2 extra mags when I’m out.. Happy shooting. Todd..

I have the Ultra Carry II in 45 and I love it, as long as you have to keep it clean and lubed it runs great. However I purchased the micro 9 last year and absolutely hated the gun. I sold it and purchased a Shield 2.0 and a ton of ammo. Based firearm decision I made of 2017!

Solid vid. Count me in the camp that purchased a Micro 9, and experienced horrific results. Mag would not load with ammo without manipulating. FTF, FTE. Made it through 20 rounds before declaring health and safety risk to continue. Cabela’s indicates “normal” and to either stick with it for 500 rounds or return to Kimber.
@sootch tell gunbuyer.com that you were the reason I bought my Walther PPQ SC from them. And I'm likely to buy a PPS or a micro 9 from them. Dot-dot. And you mentioned them in your video and that's a huge boost of confidence for any Customer because your videos are top-notch. I'm thrilled with my gunbuyer.com purchases of my PPQ, additional magazines, Etc.

I got the micro 380 in 2018 then last april i got the micro 9 honestly i love em both i installed a spring kit from mcarbo in both and one hell of a difference in trigger pull i carry the 9 daily it is soveasy to concell honestly ive carried both at same time several times i love these guns well worth the money to get a real gun not one that fells like a plastic toy

I picked up a Micro 9 two weeks ago. It is a beautiful little pistol. So far mine is functioning perfectly. I have one of the 8 round mags, and a custom holster on the way.

Update: After nearly a year with the Micro 9 it has become one of my favorite CCW pistols. It has been 100% reliable. I shoot and carry it often. I usually carry it with the seven round mag in the gun, and an eight rounder as a spare. The seven round mag provides an adequate grip, but the eight rounder allows me a full grip. I carry it in a We The People IWB Kydex holster, occasionally I will go OWB in a DeSantis Mini Scabbard.

I just bought the micro 9 bel aire version with the white grips and blue frame just two days ago, and I really like this little thing. It's real pretty, and fits my hand very well, and has quite the kick to it
I don't know if it's my specific gun, or just Kimbers in general, but the springs in it are really strong. It takes a lot of strength to pull the slide back, and the spring in the magazine is WAY stronger than it needs to be. My dad is pretty strong, but he didn't bother loading the full 7 rounds in the mag because it was just too hard for him.
Other than that, it's a gorgeous and powerful itty-bitty pistol

Wow great review that looks very similar to the P93 and how it breaks down assembles. The spring for the slide stop and and release you push down to slide on the slide. I just picked up and Aegis ultra 9mm and shot 200 rounds yesterday no issue. I love it and my first Kimber. Needed a softer shooter than my 45, 40, and sometimes the 938 is snappy when my arthritis kicks up. Now so want one of these.. How is the snappiness compared to the 938. Might get one for the wife too!
Just bought one today I gave just a little bit more for it than when your video was made but I haven't shot it yet but I think it's going to be awesome I've shot 1911's for years I am a softball I understand some of the limitations but I have learned to compensate

Find a Rural King store and their regular price is $519 all the time. I bought mine there about 6 months ago have shot maybe a 1000 rounds through it and had 3 malfunctions. It was one trip to the range and I had found Blazer Brass on sale and tried a box. All other brands of ammo have functioned flawlessly even the cheaper stuff. I have read reviews of people having the same issue with Blazer Brass. I won't buy any more. I absolutely love this gun myself.

I have a Kimber micro 9 and use it as my every day pocket gun. I’m far from being a new shooter, and I have had some issues, and pulling a 3/4 full mag out sometimes it causes the magazine to pop 3 or so rounds out of the mag lol 🤔 a bit funky, but I still like and carry the gun. 😁🇺🇸👍🏻
