I carried a Model 1911 .45 Cal. during my U.S.Army Military Police training and then during my Cold War Service as a Military Policeman in Germany. I saw the 9 mm Kimber Micro and had to have one. For a 9mm it's a great carry gun.
As of yesterday, I put over 500 rounds through my Micro 9 with cheap Winchester 115 Grain ammo. It runs flawlessly and is very accurate. It just replaced my .45 Shield as my everyday carry because of its size, reliability and accuracy. The Shield is also a very good gun but I personally I am not as accurate with it.
Kimber makes an extended magazine for the Micro 9 pistols which I have purchased. It makes it so you can put all three fingers on the handle. It's more comfortable and shoots well too.
Yea it came with mine, 2 mags one reg 6+1 then one ext mag 7+1 with the finger ext. so i did not have to buy sep. but have to buy if i want more then one ext mag
Of all the Kimbers I have owned the Micro 9 is the only I still have. I generally shoot 45acp's, so the weight and recoil of this gun fits right in my comfort zone.
First range day with my new Micro 9. Insanely accurate little gun, but it does need a break-in of a couple hundred rounds. First 50 had 4 failures to feed, next 30 had one, last 120 rounds, no problem. Kimber only ships one mag with the gun (cheapoes!) but the Sig 938 mags are a perfect match and performed identically with the Kimber mag. The original word was that 124 grains and up were mandated, but it shot 115 grain range ammo flawlessly and I think even a little more accurately than the heavier round. Self-defense ammo still a more or less comfortable shoot, but with significantly more muzzle flip and a muzzle blast that will scare 'em to death if you miss 'em. Love the gun.
Tim Curry Is the Micro 9 small enough to carry while wearing just jeans and an average fitting t-shirt during the summer months? ...I've only been carrying since November of 2016, and I've been carrying a full size 1911...(#1, its the only pistol I own at the moment, #2 I LOVE the 1911 platform) At first I thought I'd be able to carry it during the summer months too, but it just won't happen...lol, I learned....(however, I live in Akron, Ohio, and its cold here from October through April, so I could get away with it most of the time)
With the right holster and belt combo it is possible to conceal a full size 1911 in jeans and a t-shirt, a bit easier if the shirt is looser fitting, or patterned (as opposed to solid color) and honestly most people are oblivious to whats going on around them and not likely to notice a slight bulge on your side. No having said that, the shorter the grip, the easier it is to conceal, but I'd suggest you try shooting one if you can before buying one (and that holds true for any firearm) as some people simply don't like their pinkie hanging under the bottom of the grip.
@@joezevorich268 The micro is EASY to conceal. I carry it at 4:00 with my IWB holster. I wear pretty tight fitting tees and no one ever notices. Very easy to keep it from printing.
I'm loving my new Kimber Micro 9 two tone It's a very accurate pistol. I've been carrying it in a we the people IWB holster for concealment . Jeans & T-shirt and you can't see it at all . Very comfortable
I just baught my daughter one of these for her 21st birthday. They do offer an extended magazine now. Well it is a hook on the bottom of the magazine. It works great! Love the gun!
I got mine with the longer magazine and can get all three fingers on the grip. Recoil is much more manageable than the original Sig P365. It’s a nice shooter only limited by the short sight picture. I’ve never experienced a single failure. I had to practice with the safety but I’m comfortable with it now. I’ve not seen anyone else mention this but I like to do a pull and fire exercise without using the sights. It’s the best weapon that I’ve ever fired doing this. It’s a good pointer one or two hands. Granted your hand size may give you different results. I rate it an excellent carry gun good for 15 yards. Good review, I wish you had the longer magazine to use. It knocked my 38 snubby out of rotation.
I love my Kimber Micro 9. It's a beautiful little gun and it does well as both a main carry or a pocket backup. It was my EDC for a few months but I wanted something with more knockdown power, so I got a .45 Kimber Ultra TLE II.
Hello folks! Ok here we are 4 years later and first off over the past few years, Kimber has brought to market, 7 an 8 round Mags, that have a pinky extension, to make the room for them. Also they have came out with many different styles, including a nice set of Crimson Trace Laser Grips. Now there have been issues recorded, about feed ramp problems, plus the mags can be finicky, to the point that owners of full sized Kimbers buy Wilson Combat Magazines. I have purchased a Micro 9 Two Tone Rosewood model, I’ve started to get familiar with for concealed carry. I’m no where near the level of quick draw MacGraw like the above. But I have it so I have a chance at not being a casualty of the hate filled brainless society!
All Kimbers, I found out, are designed to work within minimal stress mechanisms I.e. it won’t reload a round if there is any obstructive materials. Meaning that even gun powder residue would cause them to jam not making them good for any duration in the field without cleaning. That’s why they are not popular. I have a micro 9 but I have to at least oil the slide rails after running a few magazines through it. It’s recommended to field strip them after every time at the range. High maintenance and high price is a deterrent. Love the conceal ability and the power of a nine with red dot trace built in. But I wouldn’t trust it in a zombie apocalypse.
@Chatsworth Osborne, Jr. Way to hide the fact that the gun jams. I will never buy a hammer pistol again. Striker fired are way more reliable in my experience
I own this gun, Its my daily carry so i LOVE when i see reviews like this :) I have the Desert tan model with the crimson trace laser grips, there are a few models such as raptor -Bel Air and some others mine is the desert tan which for some reason is the only one with the laser dont know why they all dont have it
The design is good i like it very much for concealability and the power of 9mm bullet is also appreciated but still have problem about its ammo capacity why not add even 2 inch on its grips for the ring and little finger to rest and 9-10 bullets in the magazine for more shots thanks- model Micro 9A1
Kimber offers a 7 round extended mag for $29 from their website. I bought one to try out and I went from pinky hanging out in the wind to about half of my pinky supported by the extended mag, which for me, is enough. This was my wife's first choice for her carry gun after doing her research. She loves it. I like shooting it just because its a fun little shooter.
Sorry , haven’t read through the comments but if it hasn’t been said . Love a Brit commenting in the 2nd ! “ GOD BLESS AMERICA”! Great review , looking at one right now .
Just picked one up. I ran 100 rounds with no malfunctions. The one I got hits low . Several inches low. Over all, Its a good functioning pistol. The only one I could find in my area had plain black sights instead of the night sights. Hits consistently LOW. 4.5 inches. At 25ft. In short, I know where it hits, It is very consistent. So not a problem. Ill upgrade the sights and it wont be an issue. If anyone decides to buy one, Get the Night sights in the beginning. It will be well worth it.
Exactly right. That still does not explain hitting low. If anything, it should hit a little higher. That might make sense then. It's combat accurate, I expected more from a Kimber.
Set at 25 yards it should hit high. Not 4" low, when shooting at 7 yards. I traded it for a better pistol. I will stick to the Ultra carry and up , when I buy another Kimber. I do have a little experience with handguns. maybe 30 or so years teaching. I'm not real impressed with this one. Sig 939 is much better in my opinion.
The Sig 938 9mm extended mags fit perfectly in this gun. As near as I can tell the guns are near identical once you get past the cosmetics differences. The Sig does offer ambi. safety but Kimber looks a tad bet nicer, but that's just my opinion.
Thanks for the video, but Sig Sauer has the p938 out and the cost with two mags, night sights and a holster $535 free shipping. I have its little brother, the P238, but feel slightly under-armed, since my shooting is not near yours. At 50 feet I am happy with a 8-12 inch grouping, aiming at 24x24 inch target. I am looking at the Sig because of the standard night sights and the fact that i own the P238 and it is flawless.
Javier Gonzalez I have the micro 9 and the micro 380 in 2 tone. I agree about the pinky finger(hang down)but as soon as I got home I shot about 50 rounds thru each gun 115 grain white box.The 9 had 2 FTE and the 380 had 1 FTE.The 2 finger grip wasn't that bad BUT I got on eBay punched in Kimber extended mags.Got the mags 3 days ago.Came in sealed Kimber packages with Kimber stamped on all 4 mags(9and 380.The 9's were pricey $80 bucks for the pair.$49 for the pair of 380's.But now ITS a whole new world (guns to)I love them both.Good shooting! How's it going fellas...quick update. I picked up a sig p238 about a month ago and I could no be happier with it. I did purchase the magazine extension to get the 3 finger grip and it feels great. Have shot about 150+ rounds have not had a single problem.

I agree on that.. Its a great little gun BUT why single action??? Old archaic bullshit! I thought the term locked and cocked died off like it should have a long time ago but in the case of this Kimber Micro for some stupid reason that I cant really explain its still around???
Buy the Ruger EC9s and put a Crimson Trace laser red dot on it and give that to the little woman. It's smaller than that Kimber, smooth enough for a pocket carry, and that makes it the best micro 9 out there. Why buy a micro 9 at all if you're bent on using a holster? The whole rationale for a micro 9 is something with enough power that's small enough to be concealable. Anything other than an appendix holster makes conceal-ability a matter of wardrobe choice, and that makes standardization of your carry improbable. One day it's gonna be too hot and you're gonna leave that Kimber and it's holster at home and stick that under-powered LCP or some other wimpy .380 or .32 in your pocket. I've been carrying the Ruger EC9s with Crimson Trace in the right front pocket of my blue jeans for going on three years now and I've only had one person notice it. He was one of those "Boyzndahood" brothers and he thought I was a cop, so he was looking for it. All my friends who I've shown it to were surprised to see I was carrying. They say they thought it was an iPhone or a pack of cigarettes. I keep mine loaded with Liberty Ultra Light 40 grain Aluminum hollow points that go 2000 fps and I have a 9 round spare magazine I put in a knife case on my belt when I go out that has 147 grain Blazer FMJ just in case my attacker is behind the wheel of a car.
Good review, concise, all business and to the point at the end with field performance. The speed / accuracy test is impressive. Group size in inches is not so important when you wee this. Wow, 2.5 sec to unload a magazine from a pocket gun all on target ain't bad at all...Except for the bad guy!

Fact. A sub compact will never fit all of your fingers. Accept it and move on. All of my fingers don't naturally fit on my 1851 revolver. Not complainin'.
This is basically a SIG P938 that doesn't come with night sights. It even takes SIG mags. I don't get what all the fuss is about, same Gun with less features for the same price. No thanks.
You shouldn’t compare a 800 dollar gun that can’t get threw a box of 50 without jamming to guns that are reliable I have owned every one of those and four kimber I sold every kimber I owned expensive trash Dan Wesson makes a better 1911 even Springfield’s 1911 is better. And edc I trust glock gtfo here
Owned a micro 9. bought it brand new. Cheap zipper pouch, no extra mag, no extra anything but okay at least I have a 'high end pistol'. WRONG! Nothing but problems. Brass was spitting back in my face. Frequent jams. customer service was awful. 5 weeks later still not fixed. Ordered an extended mag and it didn't sit flush. Sold it. replaced it with a glock 43. Glock goes bang every time. love it. Buyer beware! AVOID KIMBER

No, just find it annoying that they're everywhere with the nevah, hawdly evah bullshit. Actually. I'm British myself so I can't be racist towards them. Nice thought though. @@stevenshewfelt888
Fact. A sub compact will never fit all of your fingers. Accept it and move on. All of my fingers don't naturally fit on my 1851 revolver. Not complainin'.
Fits mine lol I have small hands thats the ONLY reason I spent $700 on a carry gun, for ppl with lil hands this gun is a god send
You can on a shield.
No clue why they dont make these double action
Mostly because they're patterned after the 1911, which is, of course, a SAO gun.
This is basically a SIG P938 that doesn't come with night sights. It even takes SIG mags. I don't get what all the fuss is about, same Gun with less features for the same price. No thanks.
A true patriot this is nothing like a sigp938. Those are 1911 wannabes... This is a real micro 1911.
And edc I trust glock gtfo here
Why make GUNS, and make it ILLEGAL to own? Guns for eveyone.
Mine came with a ext mag, after about 150rds to break her in she fires flawless not sure what your issue was.

Funny. That’s the same experience I had with my Glock. No problem with my new Kimber.
oh gawd - like the brits thinking they can fool america in their glamour magazines - here's one blabbering about something they can't own.
Kimber is absolute junk.
Well if you did carry the way Browning intended… you’d not fumble most of a second operating the safety! My 92 year old mom… cocked and loaded… many time I come in the her house two in mourning to check on her…. if she hears me… got that grip laser in my eyes… “What you doing in my house…?” “Mom I just checking…”. She says, “What you doing up where and what are you up to… go get some sleep… .” Never bothers her she’s Titanium “; th-cam.com/video/dmtlHU8_1B4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NZHw4nygjUrmzJJx and me answering before she shows her wrathful side, “ I’m on my way right now. ,
