He himself binded each books (all from his own salary little by little, over 20 years. 😍. He also showed us how to bind book and preserve them for the generations to come 🥰

Lots of college students used to do this. A book that is expensive will be cheaper by more than half a price. I cant blame people who do those or download pdf books on some illegal sites to get it for free. They couldn't even afford to buy some good clothes/food. Btw i like the craftsmanship. Izz amazing ^_^

To many of you who question the copyrights here: personal textbook piracy is common in many "first world" countries as well. Quite often universities require a specific textbook for an exam published by their own printing house which is 5 times the price of a different one and many students can't afford it because there are 20 others they need to purchase. And even the ones who are able to just can't buy it anymore, because it was printed 5 years ago with some 200 printouts in total. Nevertheless, this seems to be a quite successful business. Besides that, I think that knowledge should not be restricted to those who can afford it.
I'm amused at everyone who's so concerned about piracy issues and copyright. I'm sure none of you have illegally downloaded music, movies, or used unauthorized operating system or software on your computers.

Someone who steals $10 doesn't get to turn around and call someone who steals $100 a thief. Second of all most of these guys customers are people who live in places that can't afford the material at original value so either they wouldn't have access anyway. This bookbinder is not really stealing away the customer from the original bookmaker he's making it available to a different customer base. Plus these guys are not making hundreds of thousands of dollars. It's a meager way to make a living. He is the least of the world's problems. We have people sitting above us robbing us blind. Focus your disappointment in that direction.

I miss working in print shop and doing light binding. Saved money by buying books used online or borrowed from library for the whole semester! I should have been smarter by reselling books right before next semester to other students to recoup money
In my country, books cost an arm and leg compared to the average person's salary. So when I was a student, my whole class contribute to pay for one book then we have it replicated. I know it's bad but if we don't do that then our future is screwed. At least we bought one. I can't understand why those are so expensive.

That glue is made by simply boiling any kind of starch in water and getting it in desired thickness. The purple thing on side is called buckram, it is a fabric that's coated with some thick material to make it kind of like strong thick. The outer pink is simply paper (colored). The ones used for gift wrapping.

I can understand your point. But traditionally the book binders here use glue that is starch based made from rice tapioca etc. Hence totally safe.
