I’ve been searching for exactly this!!! I’ve watched hundreds of tutorials, but they either start using professional tools while saying in title DIY. Can’t believe TH-cam didn’t show me your video even tho I specifically searched these words. Thank god I’m a manifester and affirm that everything I need and want comes to me. And your video came up under “related” while I was watching a crime video. Which is not relatable at all lol, so shows that manifestation works!!! Thank you! I’ve also tried figure out how to make a book cover but with my own design, printing it out and use transfer paper.

I make sewn paperbacks at home. Therefore I drill smaller holes with short intervals (about 20 mm) and use several passes of rather thin polyester thread to sew the book. The thread does not noticeably show through the cover (made of 200 - 240 g per square meter paper) even though I do not add any side strips. The book becomes surprisingly durable and can even take a lot of abuse without disintegrating. I can manage with as small as 5 mm margin between the drilled holes and the back of the book, and I crease the cover with a 10 mm margin to the back.

Ok I've made three up to the point of getting the spine bound with three different books now and what to offer up what I've discovered. This begging step once it's glued, sown and the thread protectors put on is an excellent way yo bind a bunch of papers for comfortable, practice, personal use. Meaning, if you just want to keep them together for you to read, try this. By the second time it's easy as punching holes and putting it in a binder, but way more comfortable. I found it's best to put several coats of glue on the spine. Clean you brush immediately after use and you can reuse it for the other coats. I've chosen to use a heavy waxed thread as is used in leather crafting for the stitching and printer friendly cardstock (100lb I think ) for the stitch protector. Also, if you get a beginners leather crafting kit, it will come with the needles and thread. Happy crafting, Y'all.
