Very nostalgic video for me. As I have commented before. That area is where I grew up on a farm not too many miles from where you were. During my high school days my buddy and I would explore, hunt jack rabbits, antelope, deer and coyotes all over that area. We either rode our motor cycles or took our 2wd trucks. Slept on the ground in sleeping bags and mostly ate the little that we could carry and what we would shoot. Some of my fondest memories of being a young farmboy growing up in such a country. I really do miss that country but will never have the opportunity to explore. I live in the deep south and my teen years were over 50 years ago. It is great to "ride along" with you on these trips. I can smell the sagebrush.
First time seeing this video. I’m 60 years old , and totally engulfed in your travels. I’m personally building in Overland vehicle for myself. For the last part of my life what I wanna do. Respect and bless you all.
George is the only person I know that eats as much chili as I do LOL. When I worked backcountry trails alone on horseback and a mule string and I packed a large can of chili for each day on the trail. I simply opened the can and put it in the fire where it heated and then ate it out of the can with a spoon. No dishes, but a spoon to wash and chili suited my culinary skills perfectly LOL...
@@CoyoteWorks01 My Grandmother was born in Russia, my Mother in North Dakota, and myself in Oregon! Look up what Coyote means in Russian. I think you will find it very interesting....
That is some awesome country to explore. It would be so great if a descendant of one of those pioneers would catch your channel and relate the tale of his/her ancestor and the struggles which led to them abandoning the homestead. One can only imagine.
Watched softroadingthewest video first and was excited to see your perspective. Found that spot on the map and am planning a trip down that canyon one day. Waiting patiently for part 2 to premier. Thanks for the great content!
Howdy Casey from Texas. Just wonted to say the yellow Jeep Cherokee is one of the best off road and on road jeeps ever made for so many reasons. He seems to need a over ride lift in the back and that is very easy to do. Good luck to all of you.
Hiya Casey, beautiful country out there, and beautiful skies. You always know your gonna eat something good if it has anything to do with Cajun in it. And it gives you Cajun Power, believe me! I know for a fact because I am a Cajun. 😎 South Louisiana strong. But I do love that beautiful country your traveling on, cool old structures too! Stay safe out there, and be careful and have fun. Cya!
Man so good to hear from a Cajun friend. I’ve just gotten to spend a bit of time down the bayou and I’m looking forward to going back. I love the bayous and lakes down there. I was going to make a trip back down but this whole COVID thing put a damper on my fall travel plans. Cheers my friend!
@@CoyoteWorks01 well I always get excited when you post a video, I really enjoy watching all the places you go, just thinking about how the people lived there long ago, I'm glad you visited my Cajun paradise so too speak. And yes I know what you're saying about the Covid thing, it's messed us up here too. I can't wait for part 2, I'm sure it's going to be exciting like the first one.
Born and raised in Burns, Oregon!!! I love your videos so much. I have lived in Southern California since 2003 and I miss Eastern Oregon so very much!!!! I look forward to your videos because it allows me to feel like I’m back at home. 💕🥰😍
GORGEOUS SCENERY COLORS VIEWS BEAUTY & VIDEO ! BREATHTAKING OLD HOMESTEADS ! AFER ALL THIS TIME & WEATHER THEY WENT THROUGH ! BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! GOD BLESS YOU ALL ALWAYS ON YOUR JOURNEYS ! ENJOYED !
What amazes and makes Me wonder, why would anyone be that far out, I'm thinking there must of been something they were after, be it Free Farm Land, Ranching or another thing I was thinking, maybe Hunter/Trappers, back in the day Fur Trappers were abundant. Thanks for sharing the old Ruins, definitely some food for thought.. 👍 😉
What an awesome overland trip. Amazing archaeological finds of the past. Here in California and Nevada, these places are usually destroyed by vandals. Glad their still in tact. It's 110 today, smokeyer than hell. Great video to see on a day like this. Thanks Casey. Can't wait for part two. Take Care!
Casey = the Boss I also thought it was nice seeing green out in that high desert. I've never been to Oregon, but I've watched a ton of your videos, and likewise have seen that when you hang out in the desert in Sept, it's always yellow and brown....but not that trip. It was as green as it would be in the spring, but the plants are a lot taller, and it was fun and invigorating to see. Keep kicking ass, Coyote Works and friends. I hope we get to see Part 2 soon.
Well I sure am glad that you're okay Casey I know stuff pretty bad in Portland and I don't know how how far you live from there God bless you and keep up the good work
Thank you. Fortunately I live about 2.5 hours drive from Portland so I’m quite a ways away from the worst of it. But we have had a few small protests in the town I live in. Definitely strange times we are living in. Stay safe my friend.
Its great to see you out there exploring and enjoying a small group of friends with you. Looking forward to the next video casey, I really like how this little convoy worked together.
Casey, really enjoy your easy going, down to earth style. Great to see a variety of vehicles in the back country. I have a 1994 F-150 4x4 purchased new, but bought a 2003 Land Rover Discovery about 2 years ago that I have been outfitting for my lastest adventures. I was sitting in my recliner watching this video with the same Buffalo shirt you had on (my favorite shirt)!
Good eye for the detail. It was part of a cow skeleton. I think they get into the homesteads and then can’t get back out. I’ve seen cow skeletons inside them before. Kind of strange but that’s the best theory I can come up with.
Now that there is God's Country, as my Dad would say. He was an old cowboy at heart, born and raised on a ranch with his four brothers, where they lived till WWII. Then they were off to see the world... Looking forward to Part 2!
Yeah the cowboys around here say that a lot as well and I totally agree... God’s Country for sure. That’s a story of so many families around here whee I live. Cheers my friend. Thanks for sharing that. Part 2 is coming!
Wow Casey that was an amazing site to find....🤗 It does make you wonder why they made a homestead way out in such a remote area. This trip is so cool and one of your best, epic...😄👏 Can't wait to see part 2. Happy and safe travels 😉🚐😄👍
What a fun bunch of people! And the landscape is so varied - it's endlessly fascinating. Great trip - can't wait for part 2! (PS Would you please make everyone a hot dog...I'm so hungry now! Thx)
Thank you for the great video of your off-road trip. I really enjoyed it. I know that you have a lot to think about in coordinating a major trip with several people but I recommend that you introduce the group of people that you are traveling with and their children, dogs and rigs. Thanks again, I will look forward to your next release. David from the Gold Country of California.
GTSY CASY...VERY VERY COOL AND YES,THAT HOMESTEAD WITH WAGON PARTS WAS SPECTACULAR..YOUR SHOWER,I HAD A PLASTIC SUN SHOWER BUT LOADED WITH BPH,THAT ONE YOU HAVE LOOKS GREAT...I WOULD ADD A WATER PUMP TO IT SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO HANG IT UP..I LEARNED THAT IN CAMPING IN BACKCOUNTRY NEAR BONNEVILLE.NO WAY TO HANG IT,WEIRD MY REAR WINDOW WASHER MOTOR FROM MY 87 4RUNNER..WORKED WELL. CAN'T WAIT TILL PART 2 ,,THANK YOU SO VERY VERY MUCH FOR ALL YOU DO..SAFE TRAVELS..

some hearty folks that tried to settle that desolate land. water had to be a factor as it seems you cross very lil water crossings.

I really dont think there is enough sky to cover that beautiful wild country, at one point I was expecting to see Burt Lancaster ride bye.
I know. It is big sky country for sure. Amazing you can drive for 4 days without seeing a town, a modern house, or even a paved road.
Nice video, as always

My guess in the 4 ft hole is that it was for a fermenting barrel to keep it warm at night.
Amazing scenery!
For sure. So beautiful out there. Perfect combination of beautiful and remote. Cheers!

Such an amazing area, I was out there last month!
