I replaced both A and B solenoids as that was the error code (p0758) that popped up. After dealing with the same issue after with the same code, I took it into a mechanic for him to tell me it's the TCM. I feel like the TCM should have been a recall. Seems like an issue for everyone that owns one. Definitely a design flaw. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for this. I diagnosed the problem on my son's Mazda 3, 2.3 from the internet as the TCM. Ordered a genuine replacement from Quirkparts, at a pricey $468 (still the cheapest new one I found). He's 20 and was able to put it in himself, with an assist from Dad. Worked like a charm and saved us $6-700. Luckily, Murphy and his Law stayed out of the repair process.....

Bought a refurb unit for $300 with rush delivery on eBay, and replaced last night. Drove 35 miles with as much shifting as possible - no more P0753 codes, no problems. I think the issue is fixed but only time will tell as it only became acute during the cold snap of last weekend, and it’s a bit warmer now; not sure if that is cause or coincidence. Took me an hour and fifteen minutes to do the work at a leisurely pace, plus an extra hour on a treasure hunt for the 10mm wrench that I dropped into the engine abyss and had to find. You need a deep 10mm socket to get the most obvious bolt off the TCM. The other two bolts are hard to see but can be taken off with a regular socket and a lot of feeling around. I found it easier to put the socket onto the bolts first without the ratchet, then put the ratchet into the socket. If you look carefully, the middle bolt hole can actually be seen through one of the holes in the plate above the TCM; this saves a lot of groping. I was able to get the ratchet onto the least accessible bolt by orienting the ratchet handle mostly towards the radiator, not the steering wheel as initially seemed most obvious. I was not positive this would fix the situation but if it didn’t, I figured it was worth $300 up front to be able to rule out a transmission shop trying to charge me $1000 or more for the same job in the course of troubleshooting the real problem (or just replacing the whole transmission unnecessarily). Thank you for putting this video up and explaining it so well. You saved me at least $700 and maybe thousands more.
P0753 Soleniod "A" electrical code is cleared permanently by replacing the TCM. it bugged me for almost two month! I've tried so many things to no change until i saw this video. Bought a brand new L34T-18-9E1E for my 07 Mazda 3 GT 2.3 AT. Mounted it on those break lines instead of the top of transmission to avoid the overheating issue. it's been couple of weeks without any issue, car runs super smooth and quite. never thought the new TCM would boost the performance that much. thanks a lot Spcorbust for your amazing video!
I just my neighbors wife's car and inherited the same TCU issue. I'm a Registered Nurse. I'm not mechanically inclined at all. But, with this video. I'm going to do it on my own. Thank you. I priced the part at the dealer and he was ridiculous. I just hung up the phone on him. I went to eBay and purchased it for under two hundred bucks. The example of the tools that, I should use help me tremendously thank you so much. I paid a 1000 bucks for the car, immaculate. I think, it's worth investing in. Anyway, thank you bother.
Thanks so much for posting this video! I followed these approximate steps when replacing the TCM on my 2010 Mazda 5, which apparently has almost all of the same internal components as the Mazda 3. Your video gave me the confidence to try replacing the part myself, which saved me at least $600! My experience: You definitely need a deep drive 10MM socket for the unusual bolt. I did not have one and tried everything to loosen the bolt (vice grips, adjustable wrench, etc,.) and nothing worked. There is not enough clearance to use any kind of adjustable wrench. A regular 10MM wrench might work. The bold closet to the drive-side tire has low clearance for a socket wrench. The two socket wrenches I had were too large to fit. A regular 10MM wrench might fit. I ended up picking up another socket set (deep drive with a small socket wrench). Took me 2 hours to take apart, including a trip to the store, and 45 minutes to wire it back up. I did let my car idle for about 45 minutes before driving it. So far so good!
The transmission shop wanted $1762 to replace this item. The wife was not happy and had the car towed back home. Found a place online and ordered a new one from a mazda dealership in NY. I'll be replacing this on Saturday.
Thanks for posting your video I just change my TCM and it fix the problem. I order the part from Ebay for $468 new. Anyone have this problem just change your TCM because my error code was 0753 but I just went ahead and change my TCM and it fix the problem.
Thanks for the post, it solved my issue. I ended up leaving the old one in place and making a bracket that I secured to the metal break lines that run along the firewall. I put the new one there. My thinking was the old one probably went bad due to heat from the transaxle . I have since decided it bugs me and the new one will last longer than I own the car. I will change it soon.
Man Thank you very much, I watched your video and successfully replaced the part on my Mazda. Saved me a lot of Money. Can't thank you enough . Keep up the good work! 👍
Just did this on a 2010 and these instructions work fine. Module is a little easier to get to, you do not need to remove the metal plate that sits over it. The long bolt with the mount (on the left) is easiest to remove with a 10mm ratcheting wrench. The smaller side bolt can be removed with a small ratchet, I loosened this and then unscrewed by hand as it is a tight fit. Both are accessible after the battery box has been moved out of the way. Took about 90 minutes.
@@bluegill2030"Cindy Fortner once you replaced it did you have to have it re-programmed at the dealership?" Our TCM worked perfectly as shipped, without any re-programming.
@@bluegill2030 We ordered it through our local Mazda dealership in Lakeland FL for about $625. It was shipped from a warehouse in Atlanta GA. Paperwork said no returns or refunds. Risky but successful.
thanks for posting this. a shop replaced a and b solenoids. I have a p0753 code. paid them $332. 2 blocks away, code came back. I tried telling them about the common issues and was told you can't believe the internet. After the code returned he tried to get me to pay $2500 to rebuild it, Because the last Mazda 3 owner who came to his shop did. I ordered the TCM off eBay, and I'm installing it tomorrow. hopefully it fixes it. I'll update afterwards. $299 / $150 core.
Mark Robertson its still good, they're great to buy from. I got my deposit back the day it delivered to them. they shipped out same day as well when I bought it. I think the hardest part was breaking nails installing it.
I actually went with the updated TCM model off amazon. I figured I better go with a new unit and not risk the same thing happening twice! Thanks for the reply:)
Mark Robertson let me know how it goes please. if this goes bad, I will get a new one. I got the cheaper because I was afraid of spending another 3-400 and it not fixing it.
Yeeeee you saved me $700. took me an hour and a half. got the same gash on my finger trying to unscrew everything. it was a annoying as hell but pretty simple. great job on the video my man!
***Don't waste your money at the dealer*** While replacing the transmission Control Module (TCM) on my 2008 Mazda 3 I thought all was good since I installed the new one and the car started fine. After reassembly of the battery box and putting everything back together, to my surprise the car would not start due to the auto theft device (fast flashing red car with the key inside it). The fix that worked for me was to disconnect the two modules to the left of the battery, I believe one is the ECM then disconnect the negative to the battery. Restart the car, it should work fine. If at first it won't turn over, disconnect the modules, then remove the negative fro a few seconds then reattach it. This in essence is resetting the computer so you can start the vehicle. Initially you may have a check engine light stay on for a bit, but this should go off after the computer completely reprograms.
The process is to remove the gel from the board then re solder the broken connections on the board with a hot air station or solder iron. Very common issue with many auto computers over time. The constant heating cooling cycles cause the board to flex and then the lead free solder cracks.
Thanks for this video. I just spent the weekend replacing 2 of the solenoids to try to solve the problem. It did not solve the problem. Going to have to do this next.
@@of3rk0ria3 Not yet, haven't found a used TCM, new ones are $500-600... did find a place that will refurbish, but you have to mail it in...I went back to work and need the car for now.
@@Devo1987 I bought a TCM to replace it on my car. It did not work. Apparently it needs to be programed for the specific car settings or something. Anyways, I got rid of the car, too much hassle.
I’m doing the exact same job on my 2007 Mazda 3, GT sedan today. The job is more like 5-6 hrs, due to the fact that there are many components to remove before you even get to the TCM and many rusted nuts, bolts. You don’t show or explain how you removed the steel plate just above TCM, which would have been nice. Thanks for the video though. It helped overall. God damned Mazda for building such a crowded engine compartment.
This video is giving me hope, i just opened my transmission pan and changed all solenoids twice even changed my oil but still having that P0758 code so am thinking thks can be the issue i will go get a used TCM and see ☺
Did you replace the TCM and the P0758 code went away. I have same code, had both A/B solenoids replaced. Error came back. However, after I cleared it and moved over to self shifting, no code. As soon as I went back to regular mode, got the CEL with P0758 come right back within 2 miles of driving.
I was able to repair mine by resoldering all the joints on the bottom side of the PCB. That's the side exposed directly to the transmission heat. Getting all the epoxy off was the hardest part. There were no obviously visible burns or bad joints, so I resoldered everything and now it's working. The only obd code I had was U0101 lost communication with tcm
Hello, I am also having same problem in my mazda 3 2010 2 litre I also thought the same that resoldering all the parts will definitely solve the problem. But as you said are you still getting the code for TCM communication even after resoldering?
"mein.k." wanted $1500 for install of a new unit. 1005 for the part that Mazda sells for 500, and 500 labor and reprogram and rest. I got it on ebay from "modulrepair" in cali, sent me their remanufactured one for 260, plus 150 core deposit I will get back now when I send them my old one. took me 1 hour to install, most wasted on the white clip I did not understand how to put back on. got nearly the same cut like you, it's this solid sharp metal square by the module. so 10 screws, a few clips and cables unplugged and saved 1200. can't trust mechanics till you have no choice. car had AT, engine and slip slide sign on, kicked gears, safe mode stuck on 3rd gear, drove like that for a while till last 2 days it stalled nearly completely and luckily the part just arrived. watched your video when I tried to find the answer to that white clip, but figured it out. thanks anyways.
TheThepatinator09. Plus the 150 and got that back as soon as they received my old core back. Worked like a charm, no programing, just plug and play. Just don't cut yourself on that square block, like the guy I cut myself too. Other than that, easy install.
Thank you SO much for this video! :) Its the only place I could find the exact location of the TCM. I had code P0753 indicating a Solenoid A open circuit fault. After reading that others had success only after changing the TCM rather than the solenoids I thought to start there. This video was a life-save and helped me successfully change my TCM out this morning. Car is running great so far. :) I'll get my transmission fluid flushed and hope the Solenoid doesn't need changing also but, only time will tell. Thanks again. Great video! :)
+J Rod hi Buddy. Is everything ok ever since you changed your TCM? My 07 Mazda 3 2.3 has exactly the same issue. so far i drained my trans fluid and pulse generator but it's only good for a day and lights came back this morning. read code for P0753 but i just changed the Trans fluid... so it's time to move on to TCM now.
Hey Ray. Yes, I've had no problems since changing the TCM. No check-engine lights and it drives just like before. Good luck! I hope this solves the problem for you too. :)
All of the TCM's for 2.3L / 5 speed automatic are the same - the prefix of the part number has to with DESTINATION (what model of vehicle) but internally they're all the same - doesn't matter though cuz they're all close to the same price
I had the problem- would get the AT light on and a check engine- checked it and sayed "Lost communication" Took the modulator of and peeled the silicon off the back and found feet of a processor loose- took it to a guy who works on cell phones and had it welded back- put back the modulator on the car and worked just fine
Hello, my mazda just took a dump and the trouble codes led me to this video. When i shift to reverse, there is a clunk sound and it drives really slow. (Update: transmission control module and oxygen sensor needs to be replaced january 25, 2020)
when u shifted into drive as well did it like shake? i have my check engline plus AT light on right now. Sometimes wont change into 4th gear. How much was everything and was everything fixed?
@@iLovethemToo yes, it the car would jerk when switched from P to D and vice versa. It would be stuck on one gear as well. Took it to the dealer. It was the TCM. $1600 usd.
Thank you very much. I want to ask you something. My vehicle is a 2006 model 1.6 automatic transmission Mazda 3. Unfortunately, I cannot find the TCM in my vehicle. Where do you think it could be?
I know it has been over a year since you posted, but if you still have the car I know the cause. My car did the same thing. It showed an AT light, immobilizer activated, and wouldnt start back up until I changed fuse 69 in the fuse box under the dash. It was due to the coil pack harness wires rubbing on the crankshaft sensor on top of the engine, and when the worn wire grounded out (ie just touched) through the sensor it would blow the fuse. I kept blowing coil packs and that fuse until I figured it out. I was originally told my ecm was dead because it had no communication with the obd. My car is a 2005 (back when the ecm and tcm were integrated) but it still may help you out!
2008 Mazda5 2.3 here throwing code U0101. Just wanted to add some theory as to WHY the Transmission Control Module (TCM) fails. I cannot find the Mazda247 thread, but someone gave some insight saying maybe the reason the TCMs have different part numbers as spcorbust pointed out: 9E1B to 9E1E, is due to Mazda providing better solder points/parts inside the TCM. 9E1B is actually not the ORIGINAL TCM believe it or not, the original is "9E1". As time went further, Mazda had to keep revising the TCM and 9E1E is the most current TCM to purchase. Just a theory, but sounds extremely logical. My advice: DO NOT purchase 9E1B, 9E1C, or 9E1D. ONLY purchase 9E1E. Some websites offer remanufacturing of your original TCM to 9E1E standards and a 1 year warranty, although do not explicitly say they will be made to 9E1E standards. Either way, this is not a cheap solution. I hope this info is helpful to many of you!
Can someone help me out my stock one is the same one as the one in this video L34 ending with an A can I use one from a Mazda 5 that starts with a L39?
Did you have to reprogram it in any way? I've been told that I need to take to dealership to get it reprogrammed. As per your video, I've also been told it's a "plug & play" piece. Just hoping to get an opinion since my 2009 Mazda 5 TCM just went out.
I'm planning on replacing my TCM using this great video. I do have a question. Did you have to get your TCM reprogrammed by the dealer? Or did you just install as is. I called my dealer, he said it's around $650 for the part, plus I'll have to get it reprogrammed.
Is this the fix for a 3-4 hard shift also? I just got a 08 Mazda3 and notice a hard shift 3-4 gear and I read a lot about it needs a ecu reflash? Thoughts??
better read the code first. any code to do with Solenoid electrical something most likely the TCM problem. one of the symtoms would be harsh engagement when put it in reverse and CEL\AT lights comes on the same time.
I have the same exact issue with my car. Sounds like the trans is dropping out. But it only happens when my engine light is on. And if that's the case just turn your car off and start it up again.
The smart engineers decided to place a transmission computer module on top of a hot transmission and not one Mazda engineer decided maybe that’s not the smartest thing to do. It’s like placing a your phone on a hot stove and expecting it to not have a problem. Should honestly be a class action lawsuit
I want to unplug the TCM before I go and remove it and I'm curious if there is a method to it? I'm pulling but it doesn't want to give. Is there a clip to remove first? Thanks
I figured it out. I was told that one solution is to leave it unplugged for 24 hours and it may reset itself so I'm going to try that. Do you recall the cost for the replacement and did you go direct to the dealer?
+Kyle Sammond I bought it online for roughly $500. dealer typically wants more than that. let me know if that works for you! I'll add it to the description of it does as a caveat, like a first thing to try or something.
Did you find that the module was backwards compatible? I just installed an "F" revision in my previously "E" 2010 Mazda3. It's driving better but still I can feel it shifting gears sometimes (at least I think that's what it is. I can see the RPM gauge jump suddenly). The new (used actually) module did clear the lights. After 40 miles of driving, still no lights, but the driving still feels off.
Yes, it was backwards compatible. You might try having the fluid flushed, or wait and see if the solenoid codes come up for you. Yours is a newer model than most folks commenting here, though.
Thanks for responding. I may try to find an "E" module which would also let me try another module entirely, since I'm not 100% sure this one is good. May try the fluid flush too since I'm at 106k miles and I skipped that when offered. Thanks.
Great video! I was skeptical on whether I should replace the TCM or the solenoids, right now my car is in limp mode and isn't going above 3rd gear. I just ordered a used TCM, I hope it works. Will update you. Thanks again!
hello both, I tried changing the TCM but it didnt fix the issue, took it to the dealer, turns out some wires were short, so check your transmission linking wires and coils
Thanks for your video... but the only thing i am confused is about the codes....L34T 18 981E... i could find evern wiht 981 G model now... I have 2008 mazda 6......i could use higher code or lower code .... i mean can i use 981 G....please explain...thank you
I have the P0715 code which I believe it is a speed sensor issue. The mazda 3 2005 has two speed sensors. I replaced the lower one but still get the same code and transmission issue. Should I try to replace the other speed sensor, or should I be replacing the transmission control module like in this video? :/
I have a 2008 Mazda 3 I looked at your video and my TCM is not located underneath the battery pack? anyone have any ideas? Please let me know, thank you!
Can you explain more about it being clear at the bottom? Is this a must? I just pulled a junker TCM at a scrap yard to replace mine and it was discoloured similar to the one you pulled from your car. Please assist.
I think the color changes with age (heat?) - just because it's not clear does not guarantee that the unit is broken, but a brand-new TCM is clear on the bottom... I say that because when I pulled my old, intermittently broken, TCM the bottom was discolored, but the unit is 10 years old and only stopped working last month... no way the color changed that much in a month, so I think it's a function of age only. Personally, if you got a great deal on that used TCM (less than $150), I'd say just install it and see if it works. But any more than that and you may as well buy a refurbished one, or buy a brand new one off ebay. Just my 2 cents. good luck
After you replace the TCM do you have to get it programmed by the dealer?? (That is what transmission shop told me I would have to do) or is it good to go? Does it depend on where you buy the TCM? Thanks.
I have a mazda 3 2011. When I disconnect the battery in order to replace the TCM, would it screw up the car's computer, anti theft system and wouldn't be able to start the car after i put the battery back? Anyone's feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
at 6:10, I cant get the plate removed. The bolts are screwed on super tight and my little ratchet and extension have no chance. I'm going to go get something bigger and see if I can remove it.
Hoping to solve the issues I've had with my 07 Mazda 3 automatic. I had issues with the AT light coming on, it won't go under 2 on the gear shift (even when I'm in park still says 2) and it won't go over 4. I brought it to a transmission shop and they told me I had to replace the whole transmission.. which I was very dumb to do. The next day when I get my car back the AT light pops back on, and the car is jerking so I bring it back and he decides that it's the transmission module so he replaces that with a used one and it still came back on. Is this what happened to you guys? The AT light and the jerking when stopping/reversing and staying in gear 2. The shop isn't willing to do anything about it (despite the money they made me waste). Any advice?
+Desiree Dutrisac hi my 07 Mazda 3 automatic did the same thing. i googled around and changed the trans fluid and replaced the pulse generator myself but the car only good for a day then same thing happened again. as per Mechanic, if the check engine and AT lights come on while starting the car in the morning, it's the TCM issue. if the codes come up after car warmed up and drove a bit already, it should be transmission. i'm currently searching for the TCM
When my car is started and in park it's only the engine light that's on.. but when I put my car in reverse it instantly jerks back and my seatbelt locks - very inconvenient. This happened to me 2 years ago with the same car, and I had replaced the transmission - problem still occurred.. so we went to the next option of replacing the TCM (but with a used one) and the problem was solved until just a couple months ago. Car is jerking when I stop and goes straight to second gear without any touch of the gas. I have searched EVERYWHERE for a TCM the one I got a couple years ago I only paid $175.00 for but all the ones i've found so far this year have been over $700 (used) which is ridiculous because Mazda sells them NEW for $800. Not willing to spend over $300 for the part, I don't even care if it's used.. Just need the car to last me another year. Anyone know any sites that sell them? (tried eBay and from Canada) Let me know if you discover anything! * was also in Florida recently and I checked around there they were asking $600 American which once you calculate the exchange comes to around $800 so I would be better off just buying from Mazda so far.
hi Desiree: kijiji Toronto has a used one with Part# 9E1B sell for CDN$350. Other Parts stores have used one for $460\500 + tax. The thing is old TCM may have the same problem in couple of month. New one from Ebay would double the price but it's new and guaranteed quality. I'm still trying to find used one below $300.
Thanks Ray! I've put over $7000 so far into my car, I don't want to push much more as I won't need it for much longer. Have you gotten a diagnosis yet? Do you know if it's safe to drive the Mazda despite the annoying circumstances of jerking.
+Desiree my car is generally ok at the moment despite of the random Check engine and AT light. I have exactly the same issue as yours but all is good If it's a hot day. I have my ELM327 device plugged in all the time so i could read the code when it comes up. It's P0753. Once i cleared the code from my phone my car runs smoothly like nothing just happened. I did lots online research and spoke with a Mechanic i trusted all concluded a faulty TCM. The guy suggested me to change it ASAP as it would damage the transmission sooner or later. Same as you, i spent too much on it and aim to just keep it for a year or so.
Invariably, they always do! Especially with older cars that have rusted out parts and brittle wiring. All they have to do is unintentionally dislodge something, and something else other than what you took in for will start failing. Cant’t blame them directly, but how can it be coincidence that something different fails the minute you drive away from their shop?

The example of the tools that, I should use help me tremendously thank you so
much.
Did it work?
@@markraden7031 I was about to ask the same thing
Hey, thank you so much for making this video. I have a friend that actually need this. They dealership quoted him $1,500 for labor and part 🤦♂️
Where did you buy your part?
Just did this on a 2010 and these instructions work fine. Module is a little easier to get to, you do not need to remove the metal plate that sits over it. The long bolt with the mount (on the left) is easiest to remove with a 10mm ratcheting wrench. The smaller side bolt can be removed with a small ratchet, I loosened this and then unscrewed by hand as it is a tight fit. Both are accessible after the battery box has been moved out of the way. Took about 90 minutes.
I found and watched this video after I had already changed out our TCM and solved our transmission issues. I subscribed to this channel anyway.

@@bluegill2030"Cindy Fortner once you replaced it did you have to have it re-programmed at the dealership?" Our TCM worked perfectly as shipped, without any re-programming.
Cindy Fortner where did you get yours and how much did it cost?
Please update, I'm considering the same company. Thanks:)
Mark Robertson its still good, they're great to buy from. I got my deposit back the day it delivered to them. they shipped out same day as well when I bought it. I think the hardest part was breaking nails installing it.
Mark Robertson it comes programmed too!
Elbows deep in my engine bay now and sending many thanks!!!!
90k views? Mazda should replace this for free without warranty. They know they're wrong. Kind of irritating that companies don't just do what's right.
***Don't waste your money at the dealer***
While replacing the transmission Control Module (TCM) on my 2008 Mazda 3 I thought all was good since I installed the new one and the car started fine.

Wow...5-6 hrs. sounds like a lot. Did others here experience the same?

Well, if you account for a couple of beer breaks in between! 😜
Hello,
I am also having same problem in my mazda 3 2010 2 litre
I also thought the same that resoldering all the parts will definitely solve the problem.
Rijm Doleh for the core deposit was it 260 plus the 150 or was the 150 refunded from the 260?
TheThepatinator09. Plus the 150 and got that back as soon as they received my old core back. Worked like a charm, no programing, just plug and play. Just don't cut yourself on that square block, like the guy I cut myself too. Other than that, easy install.
How long did it take for it to get back to you from when you shipped it out? Where are you from?

Is that mean for example my is an L34 can I use an L39?

I got a U0100 code on my 2008 Mazdaspeed 3. Lost connection to ecu. Car starts and shuts off shortly after. An idea what I can do to fix it
I know it has been over a year since you posted, but if you still have the car I know the cause. My car is a 2005 (back when the ecm and tcm were integrated) but it still may help you out!
thank you for posting this !!
Is this just a plug and play? Thanks for the great video as well
What are some of the signs and symptoms that would require you to replace the TCM?
Buenas tardes. Me podría ayudar dónde está ubicado el At mazda 3 2009

I'm planning on replacing my TCM using this great video. I do have a question. Did you have to get your TCM reprogrammed by the dealer? Or did you just install as is. I called my dealer, he said it's around $650 for the part, plus I'll have to get it reprogrammed.
+Patrick Boyle No, you can just install it as is. I didn't do any reprogramming.

Is this the fix for a 3-4 hard shift also?
I just got a 08 Mazda3 and notice a hard shift 3-4 gear and I read a lot about it needs a ecu reflash? Thoughts??
Was one of the symptoms before changing the TCM : the car shakes really hard when you put it in reverse ?
better read the code first. any code to do with Solenoid electrical something most likely the TCM problem. one of the symtoms would be harsh engagement when put it in reverse and CEL\AT lights comes on the same time.

Thanks
I believe so, but I can't remember exactly. If you look around 5:55 that appears to be the clip you would do something with.
Yes at 8:50 I mention there is a specific way to remove the clip, although I didn't talk too much about it.
I'll add it to the description of it does as a caveat, like a first thing to try or something.
did it work?
Hi, Did the used TCM work? If so did you have to reset it?
hello both, I tried changing the TCM but it didnt fix the issue, took it to the dealer, turns out some wires were short, so check your transmission linking wires and coils

What's the website so I could order mines
Just my 2 cents. good luck
Thanks. We put the used one in and it worked. As for the price, they didn't have a TCM on there parts list so they charged us $25 haha. Cheers.

Could my mechanic have damaged my tcm ground while the car was up on a lift and he did an oil change?
Invariably, they always do! Especially with older cars that have rusted out parts and brittle wiring. All they have to do is unintentionally dislodge something, and something else other than what you took in for will start failing. Cant’t blame them directly, but how can it be coincidence that something different fails the minute you drive away from their shop?
Im having the same issue, so you said 11:26 if I have an E not to get an E? or did you mean not to get anything higher than that so an F?

Say what? How'd you come to that conclusion. First I've heard of it. I have p0772 and my TCM is the E so idk where to go from here except change out solenoid E or overhaul/replace transmission.
How to change TCM video thats doesnt show the actual TCM swap. Nice
When replacing an old TCM with a new/used TCM, does the part numbers have to match?
My Work no it’s a updated part, I just replaced mine 30 minutes ago
I can't find my tcm at all its not in the spot where yours is. I need help
Help, I'm having the same problem . I know It's a tcm so my question is, can I get a used one off a different 2007 Mazda 3 and use it? and will it need to be programmed? Or if I buy a new one from the dealer, do I need to program that tcm? How can I program them myself if I need them programmed?
hello did u ever find a used one or know if a used one works?
@@iLovethemToo I bought a new one to be on the safe side
None Ya appreciate the reply
@@iLovethemToo no problem.
After I change the TCM is necessarily reprogram the PCM in the dealer ?
you shouldn't have to do that
Mine is a 2004 the TCM is not there . I thing it has a PCM but where is that located???
PlaneX Gamez I AM the owner of mazda 3 2004 2.3 l, the technician says that model hasn't a TCM. I don't know is that right.
Does anyone know where a 2007 Mazda 3i TCM location at ?. Mine was not on top of the transmission I've been looking for 2days
Niel Daria same bro did you ever find it ?
what was your transmission issue??
I bought my Mazda 3 2007 from some guy... so I'm having problems with the transmission (hard shifting, it gets stuck in second gear it won't go to third) so I watched your video did the exact same thing you did removed the same things you did but I can't locate the TCM I can't find it it's just not there... my question is can it be somewhere else?... when I bought the car it was working really good and smooth so I really want to fix it... please need some help..
Juan Eduardo Martinez I have the same problem I can't find the tcm. If you have any update about the location please let me know
Juan Eduardo Martinez same ever find it?
they all have the same connector and mounting ears
Update ?
Plug and play!
YOU NEED TO INSULATE THE BACK PART...THAT PROBLEM ITS FOR OVERHEAT....
I can´t find it, it seems that for a mazda 3 2,006 2.0L the TCM is located in another place, do you have any idea?
?
Axel Ambrocio yes it is I have the same car did you ever find where it's located
@@Bellahh13 any update? Found some research that may suggest that the ECM controles the Trans but skeptical
Do you know where can I find TCM for Mazda5 2010. NOT VERY EXPENSIVE Thanks
@jlove766 I have this exact model and just replaced my tcm with this one www.ebay.com/itm/Mazda-5-2008-2010-New-OEM-automatic-transmission-control-module-L39C-18-9E1E/202512602495?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Dbd9cd2df7f7b4bf8a681d325c41d5065%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D141934143415%26itm%3D202512602495&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Ad119ee4b-1272-11e9-a63f-74dbd180cabc%7Cparentrq%3A2828e5b01680aa48895deac0ffff1c8f%7Ciid%3A1 -- brand new, sealed in box for $439 delivered. Arrived at my house in 3 days... a lot of money, but refurbished ones are $250-300, so personally I felt like an extra $100+ to get a brand new unit made sense. Especially sense my mechanic quoted over $1000 JUST FOR THE PART. Good luck! you can do it! :)
I changed the mounting of mine and got it OFF THE TRANSMISSION to get it off of the extreme heat and vibration and mounted it to the side of the battery tray
What's dumb is Mazda controlled the same combo from 2004-2005 out of the same ECU...like a 2.0L 4 speed is...and those never failed - WHY DID THEY CHANGE IT TO A SEPARATE MODULE MOUNTED TO THE FREAKIN TRANSMISSION???
stephen bratset Plz help where is that ecu or PCM located on a Mazda 3 2004 😞
2.0 or 2.3L ?
Both
stephen bratset
I honestly don't know
if you look at my comment from a month ago...it tells you where it is
mine is not there
Cant find mine either
Thanks for not showing or providing a description worth a shit how got the clip off. I'm guessing your name is Stew Pidasso.
Smartest thing you can do for yourself is after you fix the Mazda junk. Sell it and never purchase another Mazda. The TCM issue should be a recal and replacement. Even if they were to put the legendary 2jz in a Mazda i wouldnt purchase the CRAP car!
Has anyone sent there tcm to myairbags.com? Looking for reviews and assurance that they aint a scam. Thanks.
Just purchased mine from BAMwholesaleparts for $388 factory new, not refurbished, be sure to use promo code "save5".
Pleas
This does not help
Not so hard, you need 5 hands, that's all😭🤣
Don't care
