- First surfboard build, made from Paulownia with Western Red Cedar stringers and inlays. board is 6ft 20 x 2 1/3. Anyone interested in a beautiful timber surfboard that you can ride for many years or hang on the wall send me a message I'm on the north coast of N.S.W Australia . Also follow me on instagram for more pictures of recent boards. @tyron_morgan_ visit my website www.morganwoodsurfboards.com
Great job and a beautiful board. (It baffles me how someone could give it a thumbs down?) I notice a lot of wood board makers leave the glue to dry on the board. My dad is the one who taught me how to work with fine woods and he always taught me to take a moist cotton towel and wipe with the grain to get as much of that glue off as possible before it dries (and some can soak into the wood making it difficult to stain evenly.) Any reason that wouldn't lighten you sanding endeavors?
+rickndianacom thanks... I guess people have nothing better to do but be negative. with the glue I use a polyurethane glue which is waterproof. glue you can clean off with a wet rag isn't waterproof just water resistant and would dissolve in water over time. this glue is easy to sand off, its probably overkill as I seal the board with resin but is better to be safe then sorry.
Really beautiful! How much does it weigh?
Thanks... this was 6.3kg it was my first attempt and was still learning. if you click on the link and check out my other video the board at the top in the first slide is 5kg thats the limit for me with weight reduction.

Really nice work. Do you have any requirement for paulownia wood or boards?
Thanks... sorry I dont understand your question
hahhaha thanks
Can I help you with anything?
yes bro i neeed to sell paulownia wood and its products if you know some buyers do help me contact them
I am building one like that, but i don't know what to use to make it waterproof. I'm from argentina, and here epoxy resin, poliester resin and glass cloth is too expensive and hard to find. I was thinking in use lacquer, many layers of lacquer. Can you tell me what did you use with this one? Thanks!!
hi for this board I used 4 coats of marine grade lacquer but I now use solarez polyester resin. on waterproofing I use a waterproof glue with lots of clamps. the glue is a polyurethane glue by selleys and foams up you sand it off when cured so providing your got tight joins a waterproof glue and finish with marine grade lacquer you will be fine
+Tyron Morgan Thanks for the info tyron! I'll send you some pics when i finish it. Cheers from argentina!!
+Santiago DelloRusso not a problem looking forward to the pictures
did you fill the chambers with foam? or just let it empty?
R VF hi no I just left them empty, there is no need for foam and your only adding weight
Okey thank you 😊
So Do you have a vent in this? Would you recommend one?
Blake Moore I don't have one in this but I put them in every board since. I definitely recommend doing so check out my other videos I have one on my venting system
