After I lost my ZT 0550(ouch) I thought I'd "make due" with a more budget knife. I saw your review of the Para 3 lightweight and thought that the heck. 7 months in and I freaking love it.
Lost my CRK small Inkosi on the first day... fortunately, I found it again, but I have never carried it again. That clip just wants to grab onto everything.
Idk about you guys, but for many years now, my victorinox has been a loyal companion. Yes I may carry a second knife on occasion, but every day since I graduated high-school I've had a victorinox in pocket.
I've carried a Kershaw blur USA made Since 2006. Great knife. I had to send it back to the factory for a torsion bar replacement. Free repair and they cleaned it up and sharpened it. Budget friendly and wide range of colors and steel.
I wasn't familiar with the Chaparral until I saw it in this vid. I found one on Amazon and it's fantastic! Thanks for the heads up and for all your presentations. You aren't responsible for my illness but make me feel better about it.
The very best knife is my knife, because it's my knife, and that means I have to justify its cost by telling myself I have the best knife. Otherwise I may want another knife, and the knives I usually want are expensive. So yeah, all of your knives are bad and mines the best. Even though many of your knives are clearly superior to mine. I have to tell myself this, to keep from buying more knives... Lol.
@@MrAlwaysRight Well that's an interesting statement really, "price shouldn't matter". Price isn't really a factor in what draws me to a knife, its just a thing that you have to deal with depending on what you're wanting. In general, what I want, is usually not cheap. That's not to say I don't have and enjoy cheaper knives. I do, but most of the time, the knives that catch my eye are just more expensive, and I can't be going after them simply because I want em, lol. I figure ya gotta be happy with what ya got. Can't always be chasing the next pretty blade. Well, maybe some can, and that's cool for them, but not I.
I have to many knives, I just like to keep them in rotation as much as possible. I say the best EDC knife is the knife you have on you 👍 just don't leave the house without one.🔪 Good vids Nick👍👍👍
sold that one and purchases back (owned it before) the 0452cf, if you never tried that one.. give it a go! also google 'taco bearings' to make the action out of this world for your 0562.
@@timm5358 I had the 0562BLGRY which was an exclusive blue carbon fiber one. And I was disappointing big time because of the double clutch. Really such a perfect looking knife with great wage geometry. But I can't get over the double clutch
I used to rotate through quite a few, with spydercos being my favorite, but for my birthday last year I bought a benchmade 940 and I haven’t carried any other knife for over a year now.
I got a 940 from a Cabela's or something a year or so ago, with the wood and carbon fiber handle. The thing has a little blade play and is made with D2 steel, which I stupidly didn't check before I bought it. Not one of my favorites. I rotate thru the PM2, the ZT 0452 and the ZT 0350 fatty
I carried 940’s for many years everyday for my construction job, this last year I got the bugout 535bk-2 and it’s the only knife I carry. My two 940’s haven’t left my house.
I think I'd add the Spyderco manix 2. Either the normal or the light weight. You've got an amazing action, a lock that is arguably better than the axis lock for a few reasons, a great slicey blade, and the fact that you can get it in maxamet. There's just a lot to love about it. Plus the base model comes in around the same price as the bugout. All around just a great knife.
I have that Manix 2 in Maxamet and I struggle with that lock one-handed. It’s doable of course, but it feels like such a relief when you go back to the compression lock.
100% this. As someone who wears heavy gloves for work, I carry a dual action otf because I can open and close it just as easy with gloves on as I can with them off. I could never find a flipper that worked for me at work. I could open them if they were assisted, but only close them if they were the "push button" lock, but then the issue came where I couldn't feel the button and would end up hitting it during use.
@@teleotto Knives like that have their place. Since I collect knives I have a couple of beaters that won't break the bank if I lose or break them, these are the ones that I take fishing lol. I also believe that you should always use the right tool for the job so I don't use mine as screwdrivers, prybars, etc.
But if you only carry that one knife every single day then how can you be sure that it's the best🤔🧐🙄😖

@@teleotto Not agreeing with the abuse part, but with losing. Since it's illegal to carry a knife here in public I've found myself a good affordable knife that I can hand over to e.g. a bouncer or the police if he happens to ask if that's a knife in my pocket.
All good choices! Currently getting a lot of pocket time is the Civivi Elementum in S35VN and micarta. Great little knife! Thinner blade stock than the D2 versions.
I'm new to the knife world & in a matter of 3 weeks, I've bought 5 knives!! For EDC, I initially bought the Hogue Microflip but I wanted something thinner, narrower so I tried to buy a We Miscreant at a local business, the 4", but it's no longer available(the guy said I was late to the party because everything I wanted, including a Benchmade Anthem were DC'd) so I bought the 3". I like it. It's very light, thin, no exposed blade.
Awesome list. The neutron, EWC and para 3 are all fantastic knives that I own, but in my opinion are beaten out by the Giant Mouse ACE Biblio in titanium. Comes in under $300 too, you really should get your hands on one!
For me, the best EDC knife is my Victorinox Rambler. It's basically a Classic with the bottle opener from the Rally added to it. It's the knife that out of all the knives I own gets used more than any other. There is always a Rambler in my EDC makeup bag/survival kit. Its small size means it never scares anyone when I take it out to open a package or envelope, the scissors are the best nail trimmers I've ever owned, and the bottle opener, screwdrivers, tweezer, and toothpick are always with me. The only things that I think could be better are the nail file (usable, but not great) and (OK for splinters, but not for hair). But, in the category of knife featured here, I carry a vintage Gerber Harsey AirFrame First Production Run (fine edge), US made, 154CM steel, titanium scales, 3 7/8" blade.
I don't get the whole "doesn't scare anyone." I think the problem is more with knife owners restraining themselves from using their knives because someone may "get scared." If more people are using their knives, it would become normalized and it would be much less of an issue. I personally don't care if "someone gets scared." That's their own fault and it shouldn't hinder yours or my freedom to use a knife.
Andrew Delashaw I'm curious how old you are. In my youth, even children carried pocket knives, but over the years, most people stopped carrying knives. To say that you don't care what anyone thinks says to me you've never managed, much less owned, a business of your own where your livelihood depended on the good opinion of others and your personal reputation.
SAK Pioneer - a folding paring knife (size/weight/handle) with extra tools without compromising primary function and tapered blade stock. What watch @13:21hrs?
I'm an electrical apprentice. What do you generally use your knife for? Everyone always says us construction guys are "hard use", but as an early term apprentice, I'm pretty much opening boxes 90% of the time like any office drone, maybe stripping some wire if I forgot to bring my strippers up on a ladder or once, cutting some drywall (never again with my EDC knife lol)
I've had several Benchmades over the years and enjoyed all of them but my Mini Grip D2 was one I never quite cared for. It was a solid knife but, for some reason, the checkering on the scales always made it difficult to get it out of my pocket. I never understood why exactly because in general I really like Mel Pardue's designs. I use to carry a 705 as my edc and a 722 clipped inside my waistband as an emergency, SHTF knife.
All great knives on the table. But my ED tends to be a case copperlock. I just love the old school feel of the case in pocket knife. Keep up the great videos Nick.
Big big fan of the Kershaw Skyline for overall best edc knife. I own much more expensive knives that I could say are better than the skyline. But if I had to pick one knife for everyone, it would be the skyline. The price is doable for most people, lightweight, comfortable, great blade, easy to sharpen. You can thrash it around and really use it without caring about it. Only drawback is the pocket clip, but they make tons of aftermarket pocket clips, backspacers, and handles to choose from. You can customize it any way you want. Action is smooth from the 1st day I got it years ago. Take my advice if you are looking to get into pocket knives, you want one good knife that you will never have to replace, get the kershaw skyline. You will not be disappointed. You will not regret it
Werner Voss I agree with you. I also own a rat 1. The action stands out for me. For the money you get an action that some 100$ knives don’t have. Blade it also easy to sharpen and razer sharp. the only drawback for me is the weight. For me personally, it’s a bit on the heavy side. And for that, it doesn’t get much pocket time, I always pick a lighter weight spyderco, or my skyline over it. By the way, I hate kershaw speedsafe. Mostly why I’m such a fan of the skyline. I’ve taken the speedsafe out of my cryo, but it doesn’t make it as good as other unassisted knives
FYI: The most expensive folding knife I've purchased so far, is the Civivi Brazen Purple G10 in a Tanto blade, and I absolutely love it. I own the Rat 1 & 2, a few small to medium Cold Steels, and have a dozen or so budget brands, i.e. Ganzo, QSP, etc.. I've yet to order a Benchmade or Spyderco and if I do get one of these brands I feel like I'll only be doing it because of the Brand. My question in all of this, is how many feel the same way, or have ordered one simply because of the name? Would they truly be worth the money to someone of my knife buying experience?
While I agree that several of the big companies are overpriced, there is still a lot of value in finding a design that feels perfect for you. But in a lot of cases the BM Butterfly is gonna add 50-70 dollars and maybe a little less for the Spydie Bug. I bought my BM 940-2 not because of BM but because it was so highly regarded for a knife I figured I would love. A "buy once cry once" kind of thing. That is usually not a problem but it didn't work out this time since BM has garbage QC but is amazing for just enough people to retain the allure. I replaced it with a Hogue Deka whose name had no value to me at all but is legitimately fantastic with better steel, QC/fit and finnish, and is 50 dollars cheaper than the comparable 940-2. I find that buying American holds more value to me than the American company itself but nationality is not a hard rule for me. In doing so I accept that I will have to pay more for the same quality but at least that really is going to something that isn't just a brand logo. But some people just have different standards for different things. I feel like telling you that my Hogue Deka at 140 dollars was a great buy will likely fall on deaf ears in the same way that someone might try to convince me that 700 for a certain Hinderer makes sense. In my defense, if I knew of a cheaper knife in 20CV/M390/204P (basically identica), with G10 handles, and somewhere between 3-3.5" blade I would absolutely buy it. The Kershaw Dividend is one such knife but I can't find the 20CV version in stock. It would be for my collection, though, and probably wouldn't replace my Deka for EDC. Oh and I did buy the Ganzo 940 copy just to check it out, definitely not even close. Just way bigger and heavier but the price is hard to ignore. For the price I would have bought one even if I loved my 940-2. The Ganzo version is different enough that I don't have a problem with them existing but there are extremely close fakes of the BM 940 out there that can be had for like 15-20 dollars. I think those are immoral but if I am being honest, you will probably never justify the price of a real one so a fake will probably do it for you. The fakes make it extremely difficult to even buy real ones anyway, just check out some of the recently made "how to spot a fake" videos and you will see that you basically need to already own one. Maybe that says something by itself.
@@sqeeye3102 Very cool read, I'm with you on the fakes, they're just getting better at faking it I guess:) I do and have noticed the bigger brand companies do offer better quality steel no doubt, and I'll definitely pull the trigger on one before it's over. Currently, I've been telling myself not to go over $100 on one particular knife, not including taxes. I don't know, it's mostly just my budget but if that changes to where money isn't a factor I could see myself getting a Chris Reeves or Hinderer type brand like you mentioned. So far from my limited knife collection the OKC Rat 1 feels the best and I use them more than any others. By the way, I dropped one of my Ganzo's on my bedroom carpet and chipped off part of the point on the blade:) HA! Maybe that could happen with any knife, but that would suck on some BM or Spydie....
@@geico1975 @geico1975 I'm glad you got something out of my post. Some things to add. One funny point I noticed about the fake; the kerning (the spacing of a a font's lettering, like the "r" and "n" in "kerning" to look like an "m" for example) was better on the fake's model number. The fake looked like "940" but the real one looks like "9 40". $100 will get you quite a bit of knife to be honest, and I believe there are a bunch of Spyderco's in there. I just wouldn't really know because it's outside of what I'm usually looking for and I also hate the spydiehole + leaf blade look. Unfortunately that's most Spyderco's, and basically all in that range. If you ever decide to go the Hinderer route then look at Zero Tolerance aka ZT (the high end Kershaw, literally the same parent company) because he collaborated with them on knives like the 0562CF which are literally just as good for *hundreds* less. Just search for "ZT Hinderer" to see what options you like. Can't help you save any money on a Chris Reeves though, but it's on my "eventually" list, maybe try the secondary market if you go for it? Also, I absolutely love my Rat 2 and didn't have anything against my Rat 1 other than size/weight so I gave it another home. Both came shaving sharp and had blue Loctite on every single screw which was the opposite experience from my BM 940-2. The pivot screw on the BM constantly backed out even with loctite most of the time which is a problem I have literally never had before with any knife. Rat 1/2 are my easiest go-to recommendation when someone is on a budget but still wants something great, so I'm glad you found the same. I must admit, if the QC issues on my 940-2 were not present it would actually be deserving of its place in everyone's "Top 10" lists. I can't speak to any major manufacturer regarding blade damage from drops, it's just not something that ever happens to me. I drop them closed all the time though, which is why I won't own an aluminum handle version of anything. Hence why I constantly specified that I was talking about a 940-2 (G10) and not the 940 (green aluminum trash). I would highly recommend you take that into consideration for any knife you actually feel proud of, as seeing a nice big gouge in something that makes you happy really sucks the wind out of your sails. Aluminum is such a garbage handle material it will be scratched in a hermetically sealed room with no metal. Most of the time with G10 I can't even find where the scratches were but aluminum makes scratches almost glow. I also prefer finishes that help hide blade/clip scratches for the same reason, like stonewashing, but that's kind of inevitable. Lastly, don't just buy something because other people tell you it's great. Buy something you think will be great based on what other people like or dislike about it. If something is a lot of money to you and you aren't really "getting it" then go to a knife shop and handle one in person before you jump in. I am certain that the AD 20 / 20.5 shark lock knives are great knives for a lot of people but I will not be buying one because it just isn't for me even though they are beloved in the community. You're not really gonna get poor-shamed for not having the new 'Super Knife', you might just catch some indifference for carrying something common / inexpensive. Hopefully that helps tie everything together regarding your original question. Sorry for the shitload of paragraphs, I guess I had a lot to say.
For me, my best edc which I've only been carrying for a few months now, is my medford fighter flipper in 3v steel. It's a beast of a knife that carries very nicely in my jeans
I have been carrying a Steel Will Cutjack for 5 yrs now and Its been fantastic. Large enough to be defensive tool yet light and budget friendly $42 at my door. Never a bit of problem with corrosion on the D-2 blade. Have quite a few that cost ten times or more but the Cut-Jack is my everyday favorite
Love my delica. Ordered on in m390. That will be my all time fave. Got a para2 in m390 and I love it, but with all the other crap I carry, it is too big sometimes. The thin blade and overall profile of the delica 4 make it amazing fore edc
As much as i hate to say it, the spyderco Dragonfly 2. Otherwise the CJRB Centros. Then the BM Griptillian. Those would be my top 3 for EDC at the 3 pricepoints.
I love the dragonfly as well, I take the pocket clip off, add a short paracord lanyard and it drops in my fron pocket. I only need it for opening boxes and such, and it doesn’t scare the meek. I keep a larger knife in the car and in tool boxes in case I need to do some heavy duty cuttin.
Of those spoken of I don't have a Dragonfly, Delica, Native 5, Para 3, Neutron, Atom and EWC. I have an Xlc instead of EWC. I want an Atom but I haven't been savvy enough to get one.
Very interesting perspective, thanks for sharing. Please do a similar review, but of the more expensive knives also. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the subject.
I have several pocket knives. I bought a 940-2 put a really nice edge on it and mini deep carry clip and it has been in my pocket a lot more than any other knife over the past year.
I’d probably go with the Sharp By Design Evo Typhoon if I had to stick with a $300 limit. But those aren’t usually available and are also more than $300 if you’re not preordering through Brian.
after experiencing many different knives I've narrowed my go to edc knives down to 3, small medium and large. chaparral, para 3 lw, and pm 2. and they are all spyderco because I love the ergonomics and the compression lock!
Fantastically curated selection of edc knives that covers a broad spectrum without broaching into the fixed blade carry. Great video Nick, thanks. ps: nothing against fixed blades 😄
I've had tons of knives over the years both expensive and value priced. The knife that sees the most action is the Gerber Order plain edge. It's a solid, very light weight, American made knife. It also holds an edge decently as well. I always carry a SAK also.
"Be excellent to each other" - Bill S. Preston, Esq. Excellent choice of knives and quotes, as usual, Nick. I vote also for the Benchmade Mini Presidio 2 CF Elite; solid build, neutral grip, Benchmade's great S30v steel, Benchmade's large bronze washers and large omega springs, and a good EDC size. My other inclusion would be the often forgotten Ferrum Forge Exec; clean design, easy in the pocket, easy to hold, and plenty of blade.
The Sham and the Native are my all time favorites right now. Hoping for the rumored Caly 3.5 in FRN eventually. The R2D2 really didn't do it for me, I much prefer the Kizer Begleiter. I'm surprised the North Arm Skaha II didn't make it on there (and you would've had a 2nd flipper!)
My work knife is a leatherman Crater c33x. As a retail merchandiser, my crater has opened literally thousands of boxes over the last 6 years. I sharpen it once or twice a week. The little knife never wears out. My rotated two main carry knives are a Gerber DPSF and a Kershaw Skyline. The Gerber is a lightweight tank. It has a serrated S30v blade that is tough as nails. Had to buy a diamond sharpener to sharpen it though.
Under 300? You are missing a couple gems there Giantmouse ACE Biblio (any version) and the ZT 0562ti I'd argue they can compete with anything on the table for the crown. Also, please do a review of the GM ACE Grand, I'd love to hear your opinion on that beast. As always, great video Nick! Keep on rocking sir
Good vid and classic debate. Dollar for dollar it is really hard to beat a Para 3 Lightweight, Delica in ZDP189, mini Bugout, or any 940. No cost... without hesitation, I would always choose a small Sebenza.
I'm a sucker for od green, that spyderco pm2 with the gold finish on the blade and the green handle was sweet. My current favorite spyderco I don't have is the pm2 tanto in the black finish.
I have a few Case MiniCopper Lock knives. They lock when opened, they have hi carbon blades, easy to take a few swipes to touch up when needing sharpening. They aren’t cheap, but, a good knife is worth every penny when you need to use it. I also have one called the Chive by Ken Onion(?), it is a great knife also. All of the great knives I have, are spoken for by my grandchildren, they bought most of them. I have one three blade Case, my wife bought, she gets to keep it, hope it’s a package deal!
That is what different models are for... The biggest "advantage" of being a bugout fan-boy is that you have access to a huge range of after-market stuff and can get it in any color (and if you can't you can get neutral scales and color them yourself). If you don't care for that, then it really doesn't matter.
I have the TRM Atom and it is phenomenal. Can do just about anything, including chef’s knife-type chopping/slicing like the Spidiechef. Easy to work on, multiple scales to swap if that is your wont.
Para 3 LW. Let’s be honest the fidget factor and hand feel is a big portion of the value of these beyond cutting and that one is just amazing especially with the compression lock fall shutty goodness.
Have had a 943 in my pocket for a good long time. Before that it was a Rat 1. And of course i keep a leatherman on my belt and a SAK in my pocket. But thats a different talk
I literally carry a Swiss champ edc people ask me why do I need a fish scaler, magnifier, for edc? All those tools can be used for so much other shit you’d be surprised I use all the tools all the time
I have a nice collection. Sold a bunch to fund other things. The bm 940 was in my pocket for over a year. But because its a semi rare color I have put it back in the safe for now. The color is no longer available and I didnt even see any for sale on ebay. 940 G10 is a FANTASTIC blade. I got a deep carry clip from BM free and polished it so it looks amazing. The knife is a gold star for EDC.
All these are fantastic, I’d also throw in the ZT0450. It’s not as flashy or competitive as some of the other knives on the table, but when it comes to titanium flipper framelocks, it’s a nice and simple one that’s very easy to get.
Glad to hear the American Lawman get a mention. That’s probably the knife I most often recommend to people who are ready to step up to a nicer knife without having to apologize to their significant other when they see the credit card statement later. A great, solid all arounder and PM2 competitor for Delica money. Hard to beat IMO.
Nick, no love for Kershaw? What are your thoughts on the LEEK? I usually take a leek in my pants when I go out. I have one in ELMAX. My feelings on the ergonomics are mixed though, but you don't get much more thin and slicey.
Hi Nick have you done the American lawman review, had a quick search but couldn't see one, I know the name is corny as hell and the coldsteel marketing leaves lot to be desired but as you mentioned it's a super knife and carries so much smaller in the pocket than it is, it's definitely deserves a visit/revisit. It was my first coldsteel and a big knife for me but damn it's good.
My most carried is my Spyderco Shaman. I absolutely love it. If it’s not in my pocket the PM2 , Kapara, or Autonomy 2 are. I also carry a Leatherman Skeletool hooked to a belt loop. I use it’s blade for general task.
Far M I think that people will need to buy a few before they find one that they will commit to carrying every day. I think I would recommend someone brand new wait for the budget version to play around and then find one they like to upgrade to a higher end version of it.
Quietly throwing shade on flippers, I like that. I think there's some utility in a knife that you don't have to open quickly (especially if you live in a state where switchblades are entirely illegal). The dragonfly can go with me to work (sub 2.5" blade), so it goes into my pocket. Have a lil' native on the way to compare (whenever they come back in stock). Swiss army knives are also really solid when you have non-locking and blade length restrictions. Picking up a Shaman for use at home. Would love a Native 5 at some point too. Can't argue about utility for the popular spydercos. :)
Great to see the native 5 fluted cf here. My absolute favourite edc choice 😁 and one knife i have been EDCing for years. Gotta agree, probably one of the best things spyderco makes 👍
Funny knife, the fluted CF Native 5. Bought one - it's stunningly beautiful ... and returned it. Like Nick stated in his full review of the knife, I have other knives that cover the job and are a little more appealing in one way or another. Or so I thought. Like Nick stated here, even since I returned the fluted CF Native 5 I've been inclined to buy one again as my one EDC. (But I haven't done it yet.)
I love the channel and appreciate all the advise and how approachable you make the knife world. One thing I find so frustrating is that almost none of these knives are really "easily" available in any real capacity as nick mentioned. As someone new to this hobby the months long wait for any of the options on the top half of this list is something I am really struggling with. I don't have any local retailers to support and google searches seem to yield the same few online sites that seem to endlessly out of stock (TRM seems to have closed off even the wait list for the Atom). Are there any resources or tips for how to acquire some of these pieces online in a reasonable amount of time?
Not knife related, if you would tell me, where can I find the black soft display mat you have all the knives sitting on ? Thank you, I could really use that material.
@@NickShabazz Great suggestion, thanks - I will add to my current list of options which includes the Bestech Junzi, MKM Fara, and QSP Falcon. Must make a decision!!
I feel like TRM knives are some of the most exclusive knives ever, meaning you were fortunate to get any of them and if you didn’t you’re SOL. Great knives and I like the looks and action of them, I just wish they’d start producing more.

I actually dont use my 940-2 at all because I love it so much.😂😐😞
Same. I've got over 40 knives and my 940 is the only one I use day in and day out.
The Manix 2 is my favorite knife design. I own 22 of them, mostly sprints and exclusives.
I’m waiting for more Pro-Tech Malibus, reverse tanto, to be in stock. I’m thinking about getting the titanium and doing some custom anodizing.
Agreed I could have grabbed the regular one the other day but held off. It definitely looks much better imo
I was told they are going to have some at the end of the month!!
Maybe a thumb stud version?
@@kevinmcmahon4082 You don't like the flipper??
Wait, there is a Ti Malibu out there? that would be perfect!
Para 3, 940-1, or bugout with aftermarket scales for me.
Bugout with metal scale for me too !
Have you tried the Bugout 535bk-2? Factory scales but they are the CF ones. Much more ridged than the standard and just as light.
philip wilson The pumpkin spice lattes of EDC knives
Simple answer: One you will actually carry every day.
One you can afford to lose, and abuse.
Can you do a video with the ones over $300 too? I just love seeing those knives and hearing how you break it down.
Great concept. Can we please see the high-end and low-end versions?
Griptillian is my edc,and working knife,am an electrician and use my knife frequently.Love my Spyderco Pm2 and 3 though.
Time to upgrade from Gritillian to Ritter/Houge RSK MK1 G2.
John Cottrell one hundred percent agree. So much better!
All great knives on the table. But my ED tends to be a case copperlock. I just love the old school feel of the case in pocket knife. Keep up the great videos Nick.
For my favorite more budget options the steelwill cutjack and tangram vector are great knives worth considering
You will not regret it
I have heard from a few people these were discontinued. If true it’s a shame it is a solid knife.
I've only got a few, but my D2 Cutjack is my favorite knife.
I love mine too. It has the same utilitarian geometry as the RAT, but it's a flipper and I like the feel of its handle more.
Pocketable, great design with dual grooved choils?
Spyderco Dragonfly
FYI:
The most expensive folding knife I've purchased so far, is the Civivi Brazen Purple G10 in a Tanto blade, and I absolutely love it.
@@sqeeye3102 Very cool read, I'm with you on the fakes, they're just getting better at faking it I guess:)
I do and have noticed the bigger brand companies do offer better quality steel no doubt, and I'll definitely pull the trigger on one before it's over.
My old Rat 1 D2 gets more use than any of my more expensive knives. It just works, and I don’t really care if it gets scratched and dinged up.
For the common folk I tend to recommend the delica or the rat. I've also recommend the xm-18 for a couple people looking for a higher end knife.
Great vid Nick! Great collection.
Mini Grip for me because my hands are always wet. I don’t know why.
Check out the mini Houge Ritter RSK. Build quality is better and SIGNIFICANTLY more grip.
Love my delica. Ordered on in m390. That will be my all time fave. Got a para2 in m390 and I love it, but with all the other crap I carry, it is too big sometimes. The thin blade and overall profile of the delica 4 make it amazing fore edc
I like the way he mentioned the Spyderco Kapara at the end of the vid, wonderful knife
The Dragonfly 2 is my low profile EDC. It’s fantastic
For an EDC I like the Spyderco Sage 5 lw paired with the Leatherman PST
ID love to see a vid from you named top 5 ZT Knives. could be your choice.
Thanks Nick. And great video man, This will be extremely helpful to the newcomers to the EDC world.
where is the Kershaw blur ?
Of those spoken of I don't have a Dragonfly, Delica, Native 5, Para 3, Neutron, Atom and EWC. I have an Xlc instead of EWC. I want an Atom but I haven't been savvy enough to get one.
Nick is the nicest person in the knife community 💜
Very interesting perspective, thanks for sharing. Please do a similar review, but of the more expensive knives also. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the subject.
One of the pitchfork people here. Glad you included PM2 😂
But it has been my urban EDC for several years and hasn't disappointed me once. Touchwood!
Explained very well and who could argue with your line up , I used a delica older model with a sabre grind and now a small Inkosi.
Looks like the Gerber Order plain edge is discontinued. Any other suggestions?
great overview video. very thoughtful and systematic coverage. much appreciated. ✌️
4 minutes in and I’m so exited! Also Way of Knife is my local EDC shop. I rarely even look at anything they can’t get for me 🤷🏻♂️
Pretty jealous you live near Ben and Marcus’s shop. Closest thing we have is bass pro 🤣
pokeydokeyedc yup, I’m a lucky bastard. I don’t know if they feel that way 🤣🤣🤣
But I send 95% of my EDC business their way
pokeydokeyedc here’s an IG link to a knife they did for me this summer

Thank you for introducing me to EDC gearhouse. That rat 2 looks awesome. My wallet hates you in direct proportion to how much I love you
Hi Nick
Would love to see a review of the Kizer m_Stealth.
The look and specs of that knife fit my giggles.
I have a couple Begleiters. Great knife!
Under 300? You are missing a couple gems there
Giantmouse ACE Biblio (any version) and the ZT 0562ti
I'd argue they can compete with anything on the table for the crown.
Also, please do a review of the GM ACE Grand, I'd love to hear your opinion on that beast.
As always, great video Nick! Keep on rocking sir
..don't forget the 0452
I was thinking the same thing about the Biblio!
While I recognize the bugout and griptilian are more iconic, as a guy with chunky, sweaty hands, the mini freek is my favourite benchmade
Carried minigriptillian daily for 16 years now. Often she has company.
Ferrum Forge Exec would be a solid addition to your list. I purchased mine based on your review and it's excellent.
I have 11 of these! Pretty good selection there for EDC.
Check out the new aluminum handled Benchmade Bailout. I love it.
The Swiss Army Knife was, is, and will always be the best and coolest EDC.
I literally carry a Swiss champ edc people ask me why do I need a fish scaler, magnifier, for edc? All those tools can be used for so much other shit you’d be surprised I use all the tools all the time
I carry a swiss army everywhere on top of a single blade folder. That cute lil swiss army knife gets a lot of action!
Amen☝️
For fanboys
It’s friendly to carry ,
two minutes in and I already liked the video, the suggestions haven’t even begun, lol. ❤️
that are a lot of good options. what kicked a few of them out of my pocket is the giant mouse ace biblio.
Hard not to choose the Atom and Neutron. Happy to see the Chaparral; my first real folder and the knife that sent me down the rabbit hole.
You got me into my first spyderco and I totally get it now
All these are fantastic, I’d also throw in the ZT0450. It’s not as flashy or competitive as some of the other knives on the table, but when it comes to titanium flipper framelocks, it’s a nice and simple one that’s very easy to get.
and the 0452 equipped with taco bearings (also available for 0450) to make it even better
Shaman with the G10 is so solid. I love it with the Spyderedge
Sun and Moon Chaparral, YES, finally a Spyderco I can embrace due to it's unique materials, YES!
Isn't it plastic?
Snuggletummy It’s polished G10. Only thing really “unique” about it are the inlays.
What's the very best everyday carry pocketknife? The one you actually carry.
I think you win for being the first one to say this
Tell that to someone who about to buy their first knife.....
Spyderco Smock and Zt0562cf should be in there.
Nick could you do a review on the Hogue Deka please.
My favorite that's not on the table is the Emerson CQC-7. People love/hate Emerson, but I've thrashed on my CQC-7 and it's held up like a champ.
All great in their own individual way. Great vid Nick as always.👍😊
Have you had better luck yet? I'm able to get most of these ordering online from knife center or blade hq. I just got my benchmade bugout yesterday
My best most useful edc is my little Wenger SAK. I always carry it and something bigger, whatever I’m in the mood hits me. But always the SAK
Not knife related, if you would tell me, where can I find the black soft display mat you have all the knives sitting on ? Thank you, I could really use that material.
Many in my collection, but my go to is a Benchmade Turret with serrations.
Nice overview, Nick! However, I did notice what's on your wrist there. Niiiice! When can we get a review for that?!

What's your favourite that meets UK legal requirements - less than 3 inch cutting length, and non-locking?
Spyderco UKPK
@@NickShabazz Great suggestion, thanks - I will add to my current list of options which includes the Bestech Junzi, MKM Fara, and QSP Falcon. Must make a decision!!
Hey Nick can you do a review of the Shirogorov Quantum? 🤔
Second that
Great vid, great choice.
From the Atom on I want them all...
Thanks Nick!
Spyderco PM2 or ZT0562CF.
Any knife with a sharp blade and a reliable lock

Matthew Lyman Howell why stupidly?
Matthew Lyman Howell That they are. I really like the blade shape. Wish I could get my hands on one. I’ll try the route you did. Thanks
