As a seamstress/woodworker/crafter- I’m delighted to see that you used decent scissors to cut your fabric. I will also be stealing your bandsaw foam cutting method from now on instead of my electric knife approach. For any future iterations consider pool noodles to thread onto your octagon structure and then glue the sheet foam to the noodle as it will stick easier. LOVE the end result!
Beautiful piece, as always! Jigsaw with a soft materials blade is also great for cutting foam. Also, it looked like you used 1/4" batting. 1/2 batting might've helped smooth out the edges a bit more.
Love all the moons. My immediate thought with the end caps was that you could’ve done a lunar progression with light and dark shapes across them (similar to PRS pearl dots). BONUS MOONS!
Not only is the build awesome, you totally nailed the soundtrack. And not just because of the space/moon motif. Synthwave/retrowave just works well as "work music," regardless of "genre."
The little guy feels safe in your arms answering your questions in anyway that he wants. That makes you a great Dad, young man. Space age Doo-Doo Chair! To the Moon and beyond!
I'm a sim racer and love woodworking. I am toying with the idea of creating my own custom sim racing rig. Seeing the Moon Chair gave me some ideas of how I want it to look.
What a cute and smart young lil man you have there Shaun. Love the interaction between you both on his first furniture design collaboration. Can’t wait to see your next collaboration together. How precious and special!
So cute. This will be a story he tells his kids(if he has them) and say "man, my dad made me a badass rocking chair when I was a kid". Such a cool project for him!
I’m a furniture maker but for my main job I’m a CAD designer/CNC operator that received inadequate training and I had to learn tons on the fly. A lot of where I’m at now came from using the machinery constantly and learning what worked and didn’t work by seeing what mistakes happened repeatedly and what the commonality was with them. There is so much to learn that is unique to CNC operation (chip load, feed and speeds, etc) and it basically takes a ton of time to get good at it, but it can be done.
Always love your builds mate, no matter what they are, this one is particularly special as it’s for your son…. You changed your ending music, bring it back; I LOVE your ending music. It’s an ear worm. ❤😂😊
Absolutely amazing video Shaun your little boy is so cute and smart. Love seeing videos like this and your little boy in it . And the chair looks amazing great job
Hey, your son looks just like my son at that age. Super cute, loved hearing him talk. Enjoy this time in your lives, it goes by quick! BUT, while i miss this age,i see all the cool things they to as they turn into adults. And awesome build. Save that chair after he gets older for HIS children. ❤
I had an idea with that naming of the different planets: What about a sitting "chair" that is like a hollow ball with an opening you can sit in? You could really lean against every side on the inside and with like an implemented foot-rest it would be comfortable 100%. A giant ball out of wood would definitely be a challenge and I think it would be really great! Maybe there is a customer for this in the future! Would love to see the making-off
Chair looks great! I felt that comment about always messing up with the cnc machine. I only use mine occasionally, and will mess up some step along the way.
There is so much right about this video, regardless of if things went wrong on the CNC the first time. Excellent build and content Shawn. Well done Bro!
Love this triumphant return to OG Shaun builds. This piece is whimsical, imaginative and a beautifully executed idea with the most heart warming inspiration. I love this so much! I want an adult size version of the chair!!
I love how you do playful things with timing to the music, really fun to see/hear :) Makes it seem like you enjoy the video editing process too and can have fun with it.
Welp... I love this idea and I have 2 tiny but very quickly growing nieces that will soon have their own rocking chairs to watch Rocket Power and Rugrats in. Thank you for the inspiration as I'll need to create one based on Elephants and another based on Plants 😁 Another thing here, you really stuck the landing with your changing in editing style. I loved this video and how you told the story! Amazing job!
That's awesome! Sounds like those will be fun to build. And I'm glad you're enjoying the new video style, because I certainly like making them this way.
I love this so much. Your little man is adorable. And I love this different style of videos. But I need your "talking" CNC back 😂 And you standing on the furniture at the end. Always were my favorite parts lol
Making things for my kids to keep forever is why I want to learn to make furniture. I have one of your courses waiting for me to slowly gather materials from salvage.
Awesome job. That’s what it is all about! Probably one of the most rewarding pieces you’ve done in a while, and certainly closest to your heart. Very. Ice!
If you do not want to loose a finger use some scrap wood to push the wood you are cutting on the table saw and some chamfers on the dowels would help lining things up for assembly.
Cute customer and a great chair. Making a piece for a loved one is always special and they appreciate it even more that it was made by someone they love. Bill
One of the best videos I have seen for a long time in youtube woodworking! And believe me… I watch them all. Checked all the boxes! Well done Shaun! Thank you
This seems like one of those designs that would be celebrated for decades to come. Like a modern Eames lounge chair. Seriously. Dark wood and leather and OMG... One of coolest chairs I've seen in a while.
Became a fan at foureyes, followed over here. Love the furniture, the new video style and the coolest customer of all time. Hope I can make mine something to last a lifetime.
I love the design of this! I agree with your customer, the moon is pretty great! For the ends of your cushions, if you had cut V shapes every 3/4", or so, you could get a little less material pucker. Thanks for sharing!
I am obsessed with your videos and skills man. I wish I had half the talent and creativity you do. The Breakfast Club scene was my favorite, Keep em comin man
I have been watching your videos for years (since before you and Chris teamed up), and this is by far the best one yet! Loved the build and the happy customer was adorable!
Amazing build as always, but let’s take a minute to appreciate the soundtrack! Keep bringing these sort of synths to your future projects as it really captures the essence of creating and overcoming the challenges along the way! The fist pump was a brilliant touch. Very Breakfast Club inspired
Great video! I always appreciate seeing methodology and inspiration behind a personal work of art. Making something beautiful yet functional for someone you care about always seems to bring out the best in craftsmen.
In the '80's while sitting in a specialty wood and lumber shop reading magazines, I saw a solid wood rocking chair that weighed 300+ lbs made out of every conceivable species of wood scrap glued, doweled and shaped by hand. It was beautiful and functional as could be. The secret is BALANCE! It sold for $17K in 1986. In today's money, that would be $265K! Rock on Brother!
I really enjoyed watching your video . The chair is beautiful a real work of art and love. Years ago when I was very young I asked my father to make me a small bench. We didnt have much money and didnt expect him to buy me one but thought he could just make it. He was a dock work and had significant work skills but he was a terrible carpenter. He did find a friend who was a decent wood worker and he got him to make the bench for me. i loved the bench was thrilled to have it. I also realized early that my father love me and would do anything he could to make me happy.. We didnt always see eye to eye but I knew always that he had my best interests at heart. He died when I just graduated from college. I do miss him and I still have the bench which is in great shape after 70 years. I use it every night now to proper up my legs at night watching TV. Of course it is a great reminder of him. i am sure that someday your son will look down at his chair the way I look at my bench and realize that it is priceless. thanks for this video
Awesome build I am going to make one for my granddaughter you have inspired me and just subscribe to your channel, love your work all the way from New Zealand 😊
Hi Shaun, this has eclipsed any of the work you have done previously. First I thought that you would have to be a lunatic to attempt a project such as this but then I was over the moon when you accomplished your mission.

yes: pool noodles ftw! I've never used a pool noodle in a pool. ;-)
Thank you! I did my best. And I definitely thought about pool noodles, maybe I'll give it a try on something in the future.
Beautiful piece, as always! Jigsaw with a soft materials blade is also great for cutting foam. Also, it looked like you used 1/4" batting. 1/2 batting might've helped smooth out the edges a bit more.
Be sure to use silicone on the blade or you may have a disaster. Can’t beat a foam saw.
Cutest "customer" ever! And a great chair design, too.
💯 Great project, adorable customer/sidekick with funny favorite word.
Love all the moons. My immediate thought with the end caps was that you could’ve done a lunar progression with light and dark shapes across them (similar to PRS pearl dots). BONUS MOONS!
That would have been cool!

Space age Doo-Doo Chair! To the Moon and beyond!
You must really like this customer.
I snorted👌🏼
Thanks for letting us meet Master Boyd,
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice! What a good dad you are. He will remember this well into his adulthood, I am sure.
He's at such a fun age right now, it's great!
Nothing beats a super demanding (+cutest) customer's biggest smile! But, you know, you put way too much love on this one!
The fact that this is made from a bunch of leftovers from your past projects is really kind of cool for you both to have. awesome build.
I watched this just to hear you little man’s reaction ! What a great little man, Dad ! You’re doing a great job ! God bless U & yours !
So cute. This will be a story he tells his kids(if he has them) and say "man, my dad made me a badass rocking chair when I was a kid". Such a cool project for him!
Came for the chair, left admiring that musical transition around 243 seconds which was an absolute masterpiece of editing.
Best client ever!! (Depending on the mood of the moment, of course.)
Brings back memories of making small furniture for my young daughters. Thanks.

Wooo Shaun dropped a new video!
What a great Dad!
I take the center bit out of a hole saw and use a clamp with a drill press to cut circles. Its a pretty quick process.
Fabric is just another building material!
He is adorable. Great job on the rocker.
So much mutual love, trust, and fun. Very precious. 🥰 This Doo-doo Moon chair really rocks.
Awesome work. Seeing the little man excited makes any challenges 100% worth it
OK, Shaun, dude, your kid is absolutely adorable. Amazing work, and great dad-ing.
Hey, your son looks just like my son at that age. Super cute, loved hearing him talk. Enjoy this time in your lives, it goes by quick! BUT, while i miss this age,i see all the cool things they to as they turn into adults.

Thanks for sharing that special customer with us. Adorable. Cool chair too.😊
I’d say that the customer seemed to be over the moon 🌙
That "...space!"-part in the intro almost gives Tim Curry a run for the money.

Sounds like it could be pretty interesting!
Have you seen the ufo chair made by Mavimat?
Making all those fabric bolsters integral to the chair assembly was a real masochist move. 😂
Chair looks great! I felt that comment about always messing up with the cnc machine. I only use mine occasionally, and will mess up some step along the way.
What an absolutely adorable little dude!
i’m a huge fan of chair builds! there is so much to learn from them
It looks like I lost my "baby decoder"... Thanks for the videos, and lowering my IQ by showing us your kid (always appreciated)!
Haha, even I can't understand him sometimes. Thanks for watching!
Came here because of the skilled woodworker but subscribed because of cute customer. Great build Shaun, totally loved it! ❤
Absolutely great work and video. Good on you!
I love all your videos but this might be my favorite. Love the piece, love you being a good dad.
Very nice design, looks like a very happy customer. His facial expressions says it all. ❤❤❤❤❤
There is so much right about this video, regardless of if things went wrong on the CNC the first time. Excellent build and content Shawn. Well done Bro!
such a cool build and the no sewing cushions are so smart!
'"Hey" Come with me, "Trust me" 😂😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣 How adorable
Love this triumphant return to OG Shaun builds. This piece is whimsical, imaginative and a beautifully executed idea with the most heart warming inspiration. I love this so much! I want an adult size version of the chair!!
This is my favorite video in your channel ❤ Your son is so adorable and he has the best dad!!
That was the sweetest build you've done. He could have his own channel.
Love that im not the only one with a royal hand of Ulster flag😉
I love how you do playful things with timing to the music, really fun to see/hear :) Makes it seem like you enjoy the video editing process too and can have fun with it.

How precious!❤❤
I think you did very well. Good on you for trying something outside your wheelhouse.
I love this so much. Your little man is adorable. And I love this different style of videos. But I need your "talking" CNC back 😂 And you standing on the furniture at the end. Always were my favorite parts lol
That baby boy was SOOOOOOOO CUTE it almost hurt!
Making things for my kids to keep forever is why I want to learn to make furniture. I have one of your courses waiting for me to slowly gather materials from salvage.
Enjoy watching this project.
That is going to be super cool when he passes that chair down. Awesome build and design.
Awesome job. That’s what it is all about! Probably one of the most rewarding pieces you’ve done in a while, and certainly closest to your heart. Very. Ice!
"What's your favourite planet?"
"Mercury"
...
""Yup, we're going with the moon"
If you do not want to loose a finger use some scrap wood to push the wood you are cutting on the table saw and some chamfers on the dowels would help lining things up for assembly.
Cute customer and a great chair. Making a piece for a loved one is always special and they appreciate it even more that it was made by someone they love.
Bill
Totally agree. Thanks Bill!
Way cool! Building stuff for kids/grandkids is the best. You do realize that your grandkids will be using that rocker...
The chair is fine but, god damn, the editing! 😮💨To the mooooon!
You did a great job. The best customer ever.
Ooooooo! I love it! I want one!!! Great job, beautiful chair, for a super cute customer!
One of the best videos I have seen for a long time in youtube woodworking! And believe me… I watch them all. Checked all the boxes! Well done Shaun! Thank you
Really appreciate that!
This seems like one of those designs that would be celebrated for decades to come. Like a modern Eames lounge chair. Seriously. Dark wood and leather and OMG... One of coolest chairs I've seen in a while.
Thank you! There are a couple tweaks I would make for a version 2.0, but I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out.
What a fantastic gift for your son. Beautiful little rocking chair.
That kid is ADORBS, my man.
Became a fan at foureyes, followed over here. Love the furniture, the new video style and the coolest customer of all time. Hope I can make mine something to last a lifetime.
I liked. It's very trekky , I mean TNG for the first 2 seasons. Inspirational ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
That's a beautiful piece! Great work, Shaun!
Thank you!
I love the design of this! I agree with your customer, the moon is pretty great! For the ends of your cushions, if you had cut V shapes every 3/4", or so, you could get a little less material pucker. Thanks for sharing!
The "Breakfast Club" reference was kinda funny 😂😂 good work on the chair though.
Great build. Really cool customer too. 👍👍
Love it! Definitely not jealous and preferring a kid's chair instead of my desk chair...
😂😂
Super cute, and a great design: "To the moon and back"
I am obsessed with your videos and skills man. I wish I had half the talent and creativity you do. The Breakfast Club scene was my favorite, Keep em comin man
Very cool piece. Especially the helper memories that will last for ever. The design is awesome.
I have been watching your videos for years (since before you and Chris teamed up), and this is by far the best one yet! Loved the build and the happy customer was adorable!
Really appreciate that! I really enjoyed making this one.
Amazing build as always, but let’s take a minute to appreciate the soundtrack!
Keep bringing these sort of synths to your future projects as it really captures the essence of creating and overcoming the challenges along the way!
The fist pump was a brilliant touch. Very Breakfast Club inspired
Wow. This may be a "new take" on an older piece, but man this is a good one! Love the subtle design. He's going to enjoy that for years to come.
AWESOME WORK DAD!!!! IT CAME OUT GREAT!!!!
He's one lucky kid!!!
Cute! One of the most satisfying build videos I have ever seen, and a beautiful chair came out of it.
Lovely design. Thank you. The seat looks like a sci fi crash couch too.
Great video! I always appreciate seeing methodology and inspiration behind a personal work of art. Making something beautiful yet functional for someone you care about always seems to bring out the best in craftsmen.
I agree, and it was fun to approach it with a different mindset than my usual builds.
I built the CeCe Rocking Chair from your plans and you totally just upped the design!! Love this!
Right on! That's awesome!
That's an awesome chair, and your boy is so adorable. Great video.
Would be cool if that circle moons that creasts a seat were made as each phase of the moon in order, in side profile. But nice work buddy

You've managed to bridge the gap between cute and elegant so well, here. Nice one!
Awesome build I am going to make one for my granddaughter you have inspired me and just subscribe to your channel, love your work all the way from New Zealand 😊
Amazing 🎉
The soundtrack is fly 🎉🎉🎉🎉
the chair is beautiful, and your kid is awesome!
Great video and project. Love your choice of music
Hi Shaun, this has eclipsed any of the work you have done previously. First I thought that you would have to be a lunatic to attempt a project such as this but then I was over the moon when you accomplished your mission.
Nailed it! Thank you!
Fantastic work congratulations friend 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
