An Unusual Way to Fight the Dark Lord | Miitopia (Switch)

  • A quick note on how the AI targeting system works:
Your support Miis will always target the Monster you targeted last, and will never really deviate from that target, unless they have Area of Effect moves.
This somewhat unusual strategy uses the logic the AI Miis follow to completely make the fight a safe win. The only things required are your support Miis to have no access to (or have extremely weak) Area of Effect moves, and for the player character's face to get stolen. This 'can' work if the player's face isn't stolen, but it then requires the Mii imps do not die. The greatest effect of doing this is a 100% win as long as the two remaining Miis have methods of staying alive, or have high enough stats.
The setup for this is simple: go into the fight with no Area of Effect attack Miis, and keep friendship for the AI Miis with the horse preferably below the point they can use Snort. Try and have the player Mii do a majority of the damage inflicted on the Dark Lord to prompt having their face being stolen, and if it gets stolen, the player can no longer change targets, and the party is locked into attacking the Dark Lord.
The result of this is (in effect) turning off the Dark Lord's AI as he will only feel the need to taunt you for not retrieving the Miis' faces. As long as the both imps remain, he will never attack again, and the work is then to out last the Imp's attacks while showing the Dark Lord what happens to the overconfident.
    Team Peanut is as follows:
    Lv. 18 Cautious Warrior Peanut
    Lv. 17 Laid-Back Chef Luigi
    Lv. 16 Cool Princess Zelda
    Lv. 12 Cautious Cleric Mat
Many stat ups were given to the Player Character Mii (as seen from the massive Health Pool, damage, and defense), while very little were given to the AI Miis, as to assist with the strategy.
To those curious, this is possible, and in fact, much easier in 3DS Miitopia, since the factors for thing going wrong are cut down by the absence of the horse, but takes a bit more effort to achieve without Horse Whispering.
*This strategy is a recreation of how I accidentally beat the Dark Lord in the original Miitopia, and I never forgot how the strategy worked, since it was both hilarious that I managed to break the AI by exploiting the targeting system, and took way longer, since everyone's stats on the 3DS version were much lower and were equipped much worse for the fight.
If you have any further questions on how the strategy works, or what went into to it exactly, please comment below, and I'll try to answer your question.
