Honestly if they consider more party members, i'd absolutely love to have Ga Buidhe or any of the wrothians to fill a slot. Having L as the only party Xeno was a bit sad and considering how the plot goes, it wouldn't be too far fetched to happen.
Nintendo don't do any special compression, they're just experts in audio and texture use (which are the things that weights more in the final game's file size).
