    Break a 70 out of its case and send it in to see what grade u get. Make sure u are a new customer, since you have thousands they may give you a better grade they others.

      Seems a waste of money 💰 I have done that in the past with other coins and usually same grade came back

    Great discussion and I agree. Though, I feel the big dealers get preferential treatment, NGC would be fools to not award that designation to those such as yourself. I feel the whole system needs to be scrapped and reorganized for modern coins. The Sheldon system is outdated...especially for modern coins. Thanks my friend. Great video.

    You know I got all 70's on all the 2016 gold Libs and 4 out of 5 of the 2017''s. So far for a new person Im being treated fairly well by NGC. You have probably graded more coins than some large dealers. I even have a gold 1/10 Lunar Tiger I bought at LCS that was not even in the capsule and it scored a MS70. Good video.

    The grading standards at NGC do not change weather it's a dealer or a collector. Because many dealers submit in bulk, and often in original packaging, the coins they send in are usually better protected than a collector who sends something in in an old flip. Thus, they get higher grades because the coins are better. For regular submissions though, the graders don't even know if it's a collector society member or a dealer invoice, so there really isn't any favoritism going on.

    It is my belief that if you send in say, 20 coins, each coin would not get the same attention span than if You sent in 3 or so. This may be where the discrepancy lies if there is one.

      Each coin gets looked at by 2 world class graders and if 1 world class grader disagrees with the other a 3ed world class grader will break the tie. Grading coins is subjective.

    mentioned March 1933 the Great Depression that's why the 1933 British penny has a historic value only 6 and 7 and 4 was made and further 6 was made by the Irish Paddy what is called fake 6 British pennies because of this loyalty to the legion and religion actually real 6 coins of the Irish Paddy that was made to help the poor and when you add that up number of coins of the British penny 1933 the amount of coins that were made comes up to 23 British coins of 1933 British penneys penance

    i have had a few 70's from ngc, but what gets me is when I see a coin on ebay for sale that is an obvious details or problem coin sitting in an ngc holder without a details grade but if I broke it out and sent it in it would get a details grade. People get the grade they PAY for more than what the coin IS.

    • @Numistacker
      @Numistacker  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      People should always buy the coin not the holder. I have seen some very rare “details” Grade USA coins in normal NGC and PCGS holders and I know if I had sent GB coins in like that they would have been detailed

    I have received numerous MS70 grades from NGC. Having said that, I have also bought MS70 coins (e.g. Pandas, Perth Mint coins) from dealers that clearly are not 70's. I think in the bulk grading process, many coins are overgraded.

    Buy the coin not the slab. I agree with this saying at least with modern bullion coins. I don’t really understand grading those kinds of coins. Some people say it helps buyers know that the are real. I guess that a point, maybe for a beginner who doesn’t know what to look for.

    • @Numistacker

      Modern bulk bullion grading is a waste of money in my opinion. Grading modem semi-Numismatic Gold Bullion or rare Silver is often not a bad idea.

      I shop at bullion exchanges it’s my dealer in New York City

    • @1963921
      @1963921 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was said many times by many serious and professional coin dealers. Slabs were created for two reasons, to protect old gold and silver coins from damage and second reason to authenticate them if they are not fakes. Idea of slabbing bullion is a bad idea, just calculate costs of slabbing, postage and most likely insurance. This will add extra price to bullion and no one will pay for ounce of silver or gold more than current market price. Just visit Heritage auctions and notice where the real action is happening, with old real coins. On the other hand bullion slabbed coins almost always are reaching only bullion price with very few exceptions. Or just visit local coin dealer and almost certain that bullion coins are always priced at current market price of metal. After saying this if you still would like to see your bullion coins in slabs at least wait. From the moment you will buy them wait few months , keep them closed, don't open it or touch them and see if any changes are on the surface of your coins. Many times bullion collectors burned themselves to watch their coins are turning ugly in slabs. There is no guarantee that your coins were not touched during the minting process or for example mint worker cough and sprayed coin with saliva particles. After few months if anything happened to your coin it will show. If your coins will be after few months exactly the same as the day you bought them ,then you can send them to NGC. By the way I am coin dealer as well and to finish this I will say one last thing, most bullion buyers don't see that NGC or PCGS are slabbing bullion because this is business for them, they are making money on this.

      @willstaxx0730 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    First time I ever sent in a coin to NGC it was a mint packaged panda. Came back MS70. I think people just get upset because they overestimate their coin grades. Or maybe I just got lucky.

    I have couple question that I have never really seen addressed I dont think, so maybe you can answer hopefully ;-
    How quickly would the monarch's portrait be replaced on coins , say for instance if the queen was to die tomorrow
    -( assuming she is susceptible to death like us Humans , of course ) - would new head coins be minted of successor straight away after they were crowned?
    Would this make values of the previous coins uplift in any value quickly ? or vica versa? Any other effects?
    Enjoying the vids and learning so tahnks appreciated.

    • @Numistacker
      @Numistacker  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pretty much straight away though the new monarch has to approve coins so this may be a small delay

    • @soratorus9649
      @soratorus9649 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your reply - and what effects, if any, would this have on existing coin values do you think?
      Also what about "Queens Beasts series " would these continue as is to end of run - or would it automatically have to change to "Kings Beasts" haha . That would certainly be strange wouldnt it. . .

    i would suggest that after a couple thousands coins graded you are now considered by NGC to be a dealer and more likely to get a 70 grade . have you noticed an increase in 70 graded coins since you started grading ?

  • @Car1Sagan
    @Car1Sagan 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    But that is only because they send hundreds to thousands of coins at a time where they get more of a chance of getting 70's. Even with PCGS, which is alot harder to achieve.

  • @isunlloaoll
    @isunlloaoll 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You sent a ton of expensive coins though. I still believe big customers get easy 70s. I have bought many NGC/ PCGS 70 coins from big dealers, that clearly have some flaws. I can tell the graders probably spent less than 5 seconds on each coin.

    What is the oldest Sovereign to achieve a 70? Have there ever been a 19th century one? I mean overall, not just from your grading. What is the oldest of any coin to get a 70?

    • @1963921
      @1963921 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      From what I know 2009 is the oldest sovereign with MS70 grade, Victoria's until George VI no matter if we are talking about crown or penny you will be lucky to get MS67 and MS68 is just dreaming. This apply also to non British coins like US, Australian or Canadian. I can say safely that MS70 was created for modern (last decade) proofs and non proofs strikes. There is no MS70 coins before year 2000 (unless I am very wrong and somebody can show me the coins with MS70 and dated before 2000) In my opinion MS70 is artificial grade made for bullion hoarders to create fake feeling that I have something in top grade. I am saying this because coin (not bullion what Numistacker is showing most of the time) ,I mean real coin minting process practically make impossible to get MS70.

    • @Numistacker

  • @roxdude
    @roxdude 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your now really the numistacker grading service and grade more coins that just one person does...may make a difference to tight margins on a coin and how they view it as a valued customer. Like big grading companies you a notch up and they have a vested reason to be more conservative and give the higher grade where as just a normal customer ms69 as not quite ms70 real close but bigger customers gonna get that ms70 in that situation imo and of others. Way of the world you look after you big clients.

    • @Numistacker
      @Numistacker  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of these coins were graded for Heritage but proportions were the same. I never know entirely if they have sight of the client when they do the actual grading or whether it is totally blind.

    Have to disagree somewhat. You send in A LOT of coins on your account, probably at a level of a big time dealer, so they know you bring a lot of revenue whether or not you are a registered business.

    I respect you, but you grade bulk, and everyone knows that in bulk the grades are overgraded. I’m not saying that you didn’t deserve most of the 70’s you got, but quite good percentage of let’s say 10-20% are not 70’s
