Yea this album is really something else. It didn’t do much to me for a first listen but when you’re at your absolute lowest it’s always going to stick to you no matter what
100% true. I remember the first time I listened to it I thought it was interesting but after going through some stuff the last few weeks I've had it on repeat. Especially the last two tracks
I heard the phrase online somewhere that went along the lines of, "If you're happy, this album will depress you. If you're depressed, this album will soothe you." I go on kinda a rollercoaster where it bums me out, soothes me, scares me, soothes me. Overall, this has actually helped my depression by making me feel not alone in the horrible torture that is clinical depression.
Earthmover is actually from the perspective of the golems themselves. They know nothing but to destroy, and once they’ve destroyed everything there’s nothing for them to do. They can’t die, so they just have to exist forever, hence the last line “if we could speak we’d say we all wish we were dead” Fucking amazing album
@@liamhow1916it's in the third person "Nothing hurts them, nothing gets under their stone skin. If earthen mouths would open up, just what words would come out but:" We wish we were dead!"
Its third person. All the pronouns are third person. Your lyric is wrong. Also the chorus "more than a symbol, more than I bargained for". That is from the perspective of Barrett, saying that the story of the golems is an extended metaphor that is more than just a symbol to him, it is almost reality

also the quality is so ass because these are basically demos cuz they like lost the real good quality ones in a hard drive crash 😭 + they already recorded most of the vocals from a laptop mic bc they had a $1000 budget
@@jeansilovejeans795 woah i did not know that "the future" was about that i was thinking it was just a cool interlude before you get your ass blasted by "deep, deep"
There's an essay/'historical document' included with Deathconsciousness that gives a lot of extra context to the album. Bloodhail manages to be even more brutal when you understand what the 'stairs we make' and ARROWHEADS are actually referencing.
ok listen... I've never commented on your vid in the past even though i watch every single one but this is too much! HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO CONSISTENTLY LISTEN TO AN ALBUM THAT I LOVE EVEN MORE THAN THE LAST ONE?!?! i swear to god if the next one's gonna be the glow pt.2 or otokotachi no wakare i'm gonna melt into the fucking floor
otokotachi no wakare would be amazing, but the album is 2 hours long with a 40 minutes long song on it. he seems to prefer more concise albums/songs...
I can see you’re a rap fan from your background, if you haven’t heard already i’d love to see a reaction to some rap songs/solace by earl sweatshirt. both very short, one is a 20 minute album and the other is a 10 minute ep, both are some of the most vulnerable and personal pieces of music in all of hip hop, absolutely amazing

I'm very late to the party, but this album is all about different perspectives, how each character in every song would come to wish for death. in their own ways. It is a fucking miserable listen, and because its how no matter what there is a way for every character to feel the same despite their differences and experiences
40,000 is about how a celebrity despite gaining some level of popularity he still wishes for death, the views and gains arent worth losing his connection with people that still see him as a person
