It's a shame yes, but I think it's good to keep it a trilogy and don't let this franchise become too milked beyond repair. It would be easy to make a fourth movie with The Ugly Truth and The Third Wheel about coming of age because the cast is getting older, but I guess it's good to end it on a trilogy.
Definitely! Can you imagine what would’ve happened if they dared to replace the entire cast of these masterpieces? I mean, everyone is perfect in these! They can’t be replaced, especially Devon Bostick as Rodrick!
One thing I loved about the trilogy was that the character development carried over movie to movie (unlike the books). For example, Greg and Roderick actually have a great relationship in this. In the books, they would've been enemies again.
I understand why they replaced the kids because they were getting old, but I’ll never understand why they replaced the adults. They could’ve even kept Rodrick, his character was old enough.
@@williamhardee8863 yup, I feel like if it was just Greg and rowley recast it would’ve been understandable but why they replaced rodrick, the mom and the dad is beyond me
These movies were seriously my childhood next to the actual books. I was always curious why they skipped the third book when making the movies when I was younger and rewatching it with you guys I didn't realize they combined the third and fourth one which was cool. And yes Rodrick Rules is the best one in the trilogy 💯
44:36 in the book, this is a movie Greg and Rowley watch in secret. It ends with the hand leaping at the camera, implying the audience is the next victim. This is relevant because theres a whole video game tournament thing where Greg and Rowley camp out to be there. Greg decides hes gonna try and scare Rowley by putting chocolate on his hand to make him think its the muddy hand. And then its ROWLEY who smashes GREG'S hand with a mallet. Why does this matter? Because Greg plays the tournament with his injured hand, and Rowley beats him. Rowleys offered a chance to go onto the next round, or a box of candy. Rowley goes for the candy.
How the yearbook thing went down in the books: Greg: She hemmed and hawed but finally said he's okay. Rowley: she came right out and said she thought he was cute. Greg STEALS Hollys yearbook and fakes Rowleys handwriting to say Rowley only likes her as a friend.
I absolutely love the "Why did you do that?" " Do what?" "Hit me in the hand with a mallet" "Me?" "Yeah you with the mallet in your hand" the delivery of the lines are chefs 💋
I agree with Greg so much 😭 my best year of school was 8th grade. Even though I was bullied all throughout school, 8th grade was actually fun. High school is when it went downhill (freshman year being the worst, sophomore being the best, and I kinda stopped my junior year bc Covid hit and I refused doing it online… then senior year I dropped out the first week because I hated doing it online and I wasn’t trynna graduate through a computer 😭 Best decision I made was dropping out, and getting my GED though☺️it’s not for everyone, but considering my situation at the time, it was for the best. Nowadays I’m glad I’m not in school, but it terrifies me for these babies because of all these school sh**tings 😔. Now school isn’t even safe and I’m just like “damn I’m glad I was in school when I was” but it also worries me for the newer kids 😭 too many kids be losing their lives. Anywaysss, great reaction as usual 💜💜🫶🏼
Whats so good about these movies is that their actually pretty funny. Most kids movies are not funny at all but these movies were so surprisingly funny
So “Dog days” refers to summer. During summer the star Sirius rises with the sun, both of their conbined heat supposedly makes the morning even warmer. The star Sirius, is also known as the dog star, for it is part of the Canis Majorus constellation, thus summer, especially hot summer days can be called “dog days”
Zachary Gordon (Greg) said the producers had to bribe them with iPads to get on the ride but he ended up loving it so he went on it like another five times during breaks. Such a good trilogy 😌
The way i played Marco Polo as a kid, there was an added "Fish out of water" call to discourage players from getting out. If they call "Fish out of water" and you dont have at the minimum one body part in the water, you lose.
My mom used to take my keyboard and hide it. I never understood why she would take away the thing I had interest in. Liking something they didn't agree with was seen as grounds for punishment?
I don’t remember now because it’s been a while if after dog days they shifted and then made an animated movie of diary of a Wimpy kid. I’m assuming because the kids just got older and did not align with the age of the characters.
In the book, there was a whole plot about how a family was having a birthday party where they were always trying to capture something funny so they could send it to a TV show. Remember Mandy's tingy? Well at thia party, Manny got into the presents and found a blanket that looked exactly like it. Greg tried to get it away from him, but ended up chasing Manny all over the party, and they got it all on tape. This worked out great because Frank was looking for any excuse to get out of making a fool of himself, so Frank rewarded Greg by not sending him.
I watched this movie in an empty theater with my dad when I was in like 6th or 7th grade. Genuinely one of the best theater experiences I’ve ever had with how relatable this movie was
THESE MOVIES SHAPED MY TEEN LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so grateful that I was able to watch these when it came out. These books were so funny and so childlike to experience
No one says, "a freckle past a hair" to tell time lol. Also, the best scene in this movie was Rodrick singing baby baby ohhh! And the lockeroom scene, swimming in a public pool, camping, the Cranium Shaker ride traumatized me and unlocked a new fear, lmao.
Even though this movie isn't my favorite of all, it's a good ending to Greg's story and all the other characters. I was looking forward to your reaction.
Just watched the series with our kids for probably the 3rd time and my husband and I have watched them more than that having been kids when it came out as well as throughout our relationship. They never get old for us. My kids would even get distracted from it and we would just keep watching and enjoying 😂
Oh yeah this is a combination of the 3rd and fourth book, pretty much taking the summer aspects from one and shoving it in with the school of the other
This was a time when teens were barely getting into social media I watched these w my boys. If I can recommend MIDDLE SCHOOL: Worst Years of my Life. Similar but better
Hollys sister look familiar because that was the same actor playing the blonde rodricks party. 😂 she was best friends with the girl rodrick wanted to dance with
Crazy how Peyton List & Karan Brar from Jessie were in this, I'm pretty sure this movie came out 1 year after Jessie came out so they were taking place at the same time especially in the second movie. Crazy how the oldest and youngest brother's both liked the other siblings 23:10 low-key thought her sister was 17 or 18 I wasn't expecting her character to be 15 or 16 so how old would Rodrick be?
Can we talk about the fact that Greg Heffley is talented and if he put his talents to use, he could make something great out of himself instead of being selfish, narcissistic and be a flawless liar? He can sing, dance, is a pro at gaming, can swim, and has Rowley Jefferson best friend. And at the end scores Holly Hills as his girlfriend.
Let’s all hope and pray that when the Greg and Rowley actors met with the author of the books. That they are planning a college years movie (s) coming our way! Love Greg and Roxy. And loved these movies growing up. ❤❤
Roxy-"Look, it's not even recommending the fourth one. Oh look, the pilot of glee!" Me-Please react to Glee, such an awesome show and such a gem. Plus it's Fox.
For me 8th grade was the second worst grade of my life.I remember my parents didnt have a car and the bus was supposed to pick me up but they kept being late going to and from school. The worst part is my parents had to go to truacy when it was the bus people fault and they still had to pay.

Oh girl, you almost had it. It's a hair past a freckle, eastern elbow time.
This movie is the perfect ending to the trilogy, it’s a shame they never made another one at all.

I agree, good thing they didn’t tarnish the series with a 4th one riddled with recasts and worse writing. Keeping it at 3 was definitely the move
Bit of a contradiction saying it’s a “perfect ending” then immediately saying “it’s a shame they never made another one” lol
@@PetSymmetry I guess if I worded it: it's a good way to end a franchise, but one more movie couldn't've hurt.
It did end the trio logo good even though they did make a fourth one but it’s with a different cast completely 🙂
The actor who plays Greg said that the directors basically bribed them with iPads to get them to ride the ride themselves 😂
That’s hilarious 😂
Looks like a fun ride though
That’s kinda like how Joseph Kosinski and Tom Cruise had the actors in Top Gun: Maverick do cinematography while in the jets.
Their scary asf
Thanks reacting to the full Trilogy, there are no more movies you can safely move on :)
The animated trilogy is actually quite good! People forget about them. The only bad one is the Long Haul
Amen ignore the comment above mine they're in a different reality 😂

Oh by the way, you have the fandoms permission to skip the long haul. Many of the characters were recast including the Dad.
Everyone was recast. Not a single actor returned, even in a supporting role.
I understand why they replaced the kids because they were getting old, but I’ll never understand why they replaced the adults. They could’ve even kept Rodrick, his character was old enough.
@@williamhardee8863 yup, I feel like if it was just Greg and rowley recast it would’ve been understandable but why they replaced rodrick, the mom and the dad is beyond me
They should skip the animated ones too- they're just as bad
And the recast isn’t even the main issue, the main issue is that the movie is just straight up bad
Greg's prediction skills were on point today.
😂😂
😡 lol
It's nice that movie Greg gets a good ending in comparison to book Greg
Book Greg doesn't deserve happiness

Do yourselves a favor and don't watch the 4th one
It’ll jus ruin the whole trilogy 💀
That one is brutal
A movie yall should react to that’s similar to these movies is called Judy Moody and the not so bummer summer.
That was such a great movie, me and my older sister watched it a lot,we even had all the books
i think it's free on youtube

I haven’t see a more perfect cast for a family in a movie like they seem like a real family and look like they could be.
Roxy’s hair looks stunning 🔥🔥🥰
35:43 that’s the actress who plays Diana in Anne with an E! I highly recommend you guys watching that show if you haven’t 💜
She was in the last movie as well.

Yes, Covid ruined a lot of students’ school experiences.
I love this Roxy Gregg sibling vibe rn 😂
31:28 crazy how that ended up in a kid movie (look closely at rowley)
the greg/roxy dynamic is part of the reason i got up today. yall argue like siblings 🤣
i love roxy and greg's friendship; it's to die for LMAOOO 8:42 ?? the best friend you could have 😭😭

Where would you rank this one?
Worst out of the 3, I don't count the 4th one because it was so bad it shouldn't even be in the series
I personally think each movie got better as it went
1-Rodrick Rules
2-Dog Days
3- Diary of a Wimpy Kid
@@cinemaclips6074fax rodrick rules and dog days are better than the first one
2nd after Rodrick Rules

To bad this franchise ended with this cast 😢
We need Roxy to react to the visit. Great video guys, keep up the great work
Gotta love Greg projecting
Roxy sounds like a rock singer. Great voice
I’m so glad you decided to do this one! I remember laughing so hard at Roderick getting mouth to mouth when I first watched it 🤣
Last time I was this early, Greg still had the cheese touch!
OMG THE HIGH DIVE SCENE! My Friend had Something Similar Happen and had to Walk Out of the Pool Wearing a One Piece Swimsuit!
I don’t remember now because it’s been a while if after dog days they shifted and then made an animated movie of diary of a Wimpy kid. I’m assuming because the kids just got older and did not align with the age of the characters.
My favorite part about this one is that Steve Zahn gets more focus.

In the book, there was a whole plot about how a family was having a birthday party where they were always trying to capture something funny so they could send it to a TV show.
