I love that Dolores says everything quietly but isn’t lost in the background. People listen to her because everything she says is so important and I think that’s conveyed really well.
I love when Delores nudges Camilo and says "yo I knew he never left I heard him every day" Camilo looks at her oddly like "you couldn't have said something SOONER?!" and Delores quickly purses her lips like "shoot I shouldn't have said that" lol xxx
Did anyone else notice that when Bruno sings “let it In, let it out, let it rain, let it snow, let it go” the piano notes that go along with his singing are the same as “let it go” from Frozen?
If you look closely , you'll notice that the start of the song is a callback to the first song "the family madrigal". It gives a sense of continuity to the whole movie
Even some of the lyrics in this one are borrowed from family madrigal: "Look at this family a growing constellation so full of stars and everybody wants to shine" "This is my family a perfect constellation so many stars and everybody gets to shine"
its actually abuela and mirabel! the colours in the lyric video are the lilac that comes up during abuela's parts and mirabel's teal (but I wasnt 100% sure so I checked my soundtrack lyric book and it says mirabel and abuela haha)
Dolores learned to rap by listening to her tío Bruno rapping, and she was the only one who could listen to the telenovelas that he invented with the mice lol, they are both good at it, but Dolores's voice is perfect!. I love this song, it's so emotional!
I managed not to cry the entire movie, but when Antonio said “We made this for you.” and handed her her doorknob with her initial I lost it 😭 Such a beautiful moment.
And also its nice because its not just Mirabel's doorknob, its also the family's, since is also the house's, the M is for Madrigal too, its a good detail
This really does just bring all the other songs together: Surface Pressure We don't talk about Bruno What else can I do Family Madrigal Waiting on a Miracle
I love the Spanish lyrics for Antonio in this one, it totally changes the feel. Instead of "We made this one for you" its "This was waiting here for you" like the house was waiting for this moment to give her her door. One she could share with everyone.
While I think the other songs in this movie are more exciting, this song is my favourite. It just brought everything together so beautifully and I definitely cried when Antonio handed Mirabel the doorknob
I love that Mirabel finally gets that recognition from her family that she’s been looking for for years, and it’s accompanied by that drop in any percussion or rhythm. It’s just a soft moment to show they’re recognizing how much she’s actually done for them. The therapist of the family gets her moment to shine. Makes me tear up every time.
At first I didn't like this song, but after I realized they all sung parts of all of the other songs I became obsessed with it and I think it's probably my favorite song of the whole soundtrack
My god! I get chills everytime the villagers come in. Let down your load We are only down the road We have no gifts, But we are many And we’ll do anything for you
Don’t know if anyone caught this it took me a while to. When Antonio hands her the doorknob and then holds her hand it’s a flashback to when Antonio got his gift and needed Mirabel to hold his hand. This time he’s giving her support to go out the doorknob on
Something interesting about Lin-Manuel Miranda’s works is he tends to assign instrumental and or vocal motifs and themes to events, people, and places, and it’s a really effective way of building a story. He did it a lot in Hamilton and when you mentioned the references to ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ it really made me think of that. That’s why you get the vibe of having to listen to the whole soundtrack to piece together the story and get a really satisfying sense of the whole thing being tied up at the end. That’s one of my favourite things about his writing and why he’s such a genius.
hey! just a suggestion but you should totally hear the soundtrack to “Tick..Tick…BOOM”. Andrew Garfield has such a killer voice along with the rest of the singers!
On 4:52 It has 3 song references. Isabela's part ("It's a dream when we work as a team...") is from We Don't Talk About Bruno. Luisa's part ("I may not be strong but I'm getting wiser...") is from Surface Pressure. Dolores' part ("Let's go.") is from What Else Can I Do. That "let's go" is from the part right before the second chorus.
I like that you did a reaction to this song. I've been enjoying watching a lot of TH-camrs reacting to The Family Madrigal, Surface Pressure, We Don't Talk About Bruno What Else Can I Do, etc, but this is the first one I think I have seen for this song and I was happy some one finally reacted to it. It is overshadowed by some of the more popular songs from this soundtrack, but is still such a great song. I love that while in the first song of the movie (Family Madrigal) we are introduced to every member of the family, and with the exception of one small part from Abuela it is only from Mirabel's perspective and focused on who each is individually; but by the time you get to this song every single member of the family gets to contribute at least a little bit of their perspective to the song and they are working together and collaborating.
You’re 100% one of the best reaction channels I’ve watched in so long, you have so much energy and can always find the smallest details (instrumentals) in a song along with complementing the singers vocals, which isn’t easy to find considering a lot of people just pay attention to the lyrics and characters 🧡
I only noticed the We Don't Talk About Bruno reference when I first heard the song, but now that you mention it, WOW they reference a lot of musical motifs in this song. You've got the tune of The Family Madrigal throughout the whole thing, you've got the tune of Isabela's verse in We Don't Talk About Bruno (which I know is also used in What Else Can I Do), and you've got the tune of Surface Pressure when Luisa sings
I've seen this movie 7 times already but Toñito's "we made this one for you" made me tear up so fast omg ,_, great reaction btw! Very excited to possibly see a reaction to dos oruguitas
I tried learning this song on guitar, which isn’t going to well, but one thing I love about this song is how each part of the Harmonies are noticeable and that that coffee kid hittin those nails like a xylophone😂
If you haven’t already you should do a reaction to the Hamilton soundtrack bc as you see with the callback to Bruno Lin-manual Miranda does that with all of his music! He is a incredibly gifted composer and writer :)
Love all of your Encanto reactions. I think my favorite line from this song is "The stars don't shine they burn." Just really gets me, so evocative. That section of All of You (Look at this family, glowing constellations / So full of stars, and everybody wants to shine / But the stars don't shine they burn / The constellations shift / I think it's time you learn / You're more than just your gift) are a nice call back to the beginning of the first song, "The Family Madrigal," where Mirabel sings "This is my family, a perfect constellation / So many stars, and everybody gets to shine." Really shows how the characters have grown and changed their views from beginning to end. Lin-Manuel Miranda is just a master storyteller.
One particular note: This is the first time a Mirabel song actually ends on a chord, instead of just abruptly ending - Family Madrigal gets cut off by Abuela, We Don't Talk About Bruno ends pretty abruptly - All of You actually completes on a more 'normal' progression.
I love how they incorporated each melody from each characters solo. How Luisa sung in her solo.. “Surface Pressure” and Isabella sung in her Melody “what else can I do”
I love they part when they go "Would you watch our little girl go she takes after you" part because Mirabel wanted to help the family and now she's helping them and the parents are proud of her of finding that thing that makes her special
There actually was also a callback to Isabella's part in We Don't Talk About Bruno in What Else Can I Do! (It just seemed like your life's been a dream since the moment you opened your eyes, all I know are the blossoms you grow is said in the same way as he told me that the life of my dreams would be promised and someday be mine, he told me that my powers would grow like the grapes that thrive on the vine)
i think Bruno's prophecies are really clever in this, because the family makes them out like there all bad, but the fact is there not, like the 3 villagers (Dead fish, grows a gut, hair disappearing) were all natural occurrences and were going to happen whether he saw the visions, Pepa's story about getting married in a hurricane, starts by telling is she was on edge about his vision, (his grin), but he could see her nerves (probably pre marriage nerves) and his vision pushed it over the edge, and even though there was a hurricane they still say it was a joyous day, Delores's vision said she could never be with the man of her dreams, (this could refer to Isabella, getting engaged to Mariano) which at the end of the film we see he finally notices her. and finally Isabela gets told her power would grow and that one day she would get life of her dreams , which also happens in the film when she realises she doesn't have to be perfect! Its so sad that no one but Mirabel realised that maybe his gift isn't bad and people just assumed it was. like this whole film is beautifully written, with call-backs left right and centre and even though we don't get much screen time of Bruno, he really is the main character in this film, he sets the plots, the drama, the resolution, all before the films even begun. its awesome But thanks for coming to my ted talk
I love how in the scene where Dolores says she heard Bruno everyday and the people from the town come in and sing if you slow it down she reacts faster than her brother because of her hearing ability
3:34 Fun fact, in an early draft of frozen where elsa was the villain it was originally gonna have a song where elsa rapped :D Not given an official name i dont think but the conjectural name is "cool with me", unfortunately the only information we have about it is the lyrics
there was actually a 4th call back to we dont take about bruno, it was in Isabella’s song, when the beat drops and when mirabel sings “You just seem like your life's been a dream. Since the moment you opened your eyes” that was actually isabella’s part in we dont talk about bruno, just the lyric change.
Omg I’m so early! I was just watching the playlist and this came out. Love your reactions. As an aspiring musician myself, it’s nice seeing you break down the instruments and rhythms. :D
I love how there's callbacks to nearly every/every song. There's the Family Madrigal song obviously, then it goes to We Don't Talk About Bruno, then it goes to What Else Can I Do with Isabella, and Surface Pressure with Luisa, and then it ends with "Open your eyes!" which is a line from...you guessed it! Waiting On A Miracle. This song really does a great job of wrapping up all those songs. And just like in We Don't Talk About Bruno, nearly every verse or part sung by each character is different to reflect their different characters, styles, and personalities.
Is this like a mirror of "family madrigal" but in another key and tempo? Joining all the other themes together but its not about Mirabel bragging about her family, its her closure, her bringing everyone together, rebuilding casita and everyone acknowledging her and recognizing her worth... Perfect.
One of the things I love about Dolores and her attraction to Mariano that shows how much they pay attention to the characters is that one of the things that attracts her to him is that he naturally has a soft and quiet voice, makes sense given her gift.
Thank you so much. I have been waiting for this song ! Plus, how can people hearing this song without a single tear? This song manage to make me cry everytime they started to sing 🥺🥺
You should react to Julie and the Phantoms! The girl who plays the lead has an amazing voice and vocal range. And I would love to hear you’re input about the music production
The beginning of the song it's also a flashback of Familia Madrigal And In te Familia Madrigal, the part abuela sings, it's the melody of "Dos Oruguitas"
Lin is really a revolutionary person just like how Jonathan Larson changed the possibilities of what you could do with musical theatre and how it could sound and literally inspired Lin to aspire and do what he’s done
I love the shaker at the beginning! It really drives the song and gives it anticipation. We know something big and good is about to happen. All thanks to a wooden bowl with beads in it.
Lyrically and Instrumentally, I think this song served an incredible purpose reprising all of the songs because normally movies like this will have a reprise of sorts near the falling action sequence. With a song list like this one, how do you choose one to be the reprise. Between the individual songs for the girls and the lyrical callbacks to the opening song where everyone was originally introduced… It felt like a beautiful reintroduction to all of the characters, both to us as the audience and to each other as family and community members.

One of the things I love about Dolores and her attraction to Mariano that shows how much they pay attention to the characters is that one of the things that attracts her to him is that he naturally has a soft and quiet voice, makes sense given her gift.
I believe the word you’re looking for when you’re talking about the violins backing up Dolores is “staccato”
It's actually pizzicato! Staccato is a general music term for detached and segmented, but pizzicato is plucked strings!
7:47 "building... and then it opens" Yup, that's what happens functionally in that movie segment.
Congrats hes almost at 100k!! 🥳🥳 unless I'm rlly bad at math....
OH my gosh thank you 😊😊😊
Np I love ur vids 😃🤗
And you so deserve the subs!!
The beginning of the song it's also a flashback of Familia Madrigal
And In te Familia Madrigal, the part abuela sings, it's the melody of "Dos Oruguitas"
I've watched encoto 11 or 12 time's 🤣😂
3 min into the video and you made me cry.
We are more than our gifts, more than our problems.
We are everything we are.
6:40 why does Isabellas face look like that 😂
Isabella’s face in 6:57 made me burst out laughing 💀😂😂
Yay more Encanto reactions!!! Could you react to songs from the Disney movie: “Frozen”? 😁
I'll check it out! that would be fun
No cause that soundtrack hits different
When the whole town shows up and sings "we have no gifts but we are many" it makes me cry. EVERY. TIME. It's so beautiful. 🥲
2:32 LOL LOOK AT BRUNOS FACE
Lin is really a revolutionary person just like how Jonathan Larson changed the possibilities of what you could do with musical theatre and how it could sound and literally inspired Lin to aspire and do what he’s done
I’ve been waiting for this video to come out
Your encanto reactions are THE BEST OF ALL❤️
I love the shaker at the beginning! It really drives the song and gives it anticipation. We know something big and good is about to happen. All thanks to a wooden bowl with beads in it.
I love that Antonio leads her to the door like she did for him during his ceremony
6:45 Isabella looks so mad lmao 😂 (also congrats on 100k!)
I have waited weeks for him to react to this song yay its finally here
Lyrically and Instrumentally, I think this song served an incredible purpose reprising all of the songs because normally movies like this will have a reprise of sorts near the falling action sequence. With a song list like this one, how do you choose one to be the reprise. Between the individual songs for the girls and the lyrical callbacks to the opening song where everyone was originally introduced… It felt like a beautiful reintroduction to all of the characters, both to us as the audience and to each other as family and community members.
I was impressed with your reaction video to we don't talk about Bruno so I've subscribed!
07:29 just noticed that Maribel and Abuela make another subtle M for Madrigal. Further symbolizing that she's passing the baton to Maribel
