This man is one of the most underrated artists in history
This music speaks to my soul! I am Apache Indian from White Mountains, AZ. I remember as a young man playing an LP of blues music by Baby Face Leroy which was only drums and guitar, my dad came in and said "where did you get a record of Apache music?"
I spent time researching the origins of the blues, and Native Americans seemed overlooked except for a few discerning ethnomusicologists who realized the connections.. though this performance is very West African
My Brother played in the Sun RA Arkestra. Juini Booth Bassist. It was like no other. They were a village, Family , community of musicians.
Your brother was underrated, I think. But he was SO good. Loved his fat, mellow sound. And his solos...just, wow! You must be massively proud, Mary!
That's fantastic. You're lucky!
I finally some reglamentary amount of cowbell playing.
SUN RA ***** brought More ***** SPIRITUAL ENERGY to planet Earth ****** than any produced by any other source. To experience his cosmic musical language live was a journey that stayed with you for a lifetime if not ***** LONGER.
Amazing way for tell the history of music in the human era.
Thanks for share it.
Catchy tune! Sometimes I find myself humming it all day long.
Sun Ra is pure cosmic joy & wonder
Yes
my heart...my soul...my stars...ethers...
Beautiful thoughts
🍃 Ceremonial, Celestial, Rituals. Done in true Sun Ra style. No 1 comes close to him & his Intergalactic Arkestra...not even today🍃
One would think the Arkestra had sufficiently performed to the ends of their imagination through the many exotic locations and tapped into their futuristic spirits during the 1971 tour. If this is in fact the final performance of the tour they are really emptying the tank here, 100% inspiration and cosmic energy to spare.
This happens live and direct, in space.
Stoned immaculate
And some artists of today are doing this thinking they are breaking barriers and making something new....
Sandro Massarani looool that's so true, same thing with Lil B "The BasedGod"
The ones that are really doing this kind of music have already heard Sun Ra, Miles or Coltrane... the others are NOT making music at this LEVEL ;-)
Like who? Maybe they make similar music because they want to enlighten the current generation of forgotten music that should be treasured.
@@thebuenomonano9053 exactlyyyy, im tired of golden age syndrome people.
its hard to call todays 'artists' artists. they aren't playing instruments or doing ANYTHING original
Thank you so much for sharing this.
This is great: we don't often get to see and hear how the dancers enhanced the experience.
praise the sun!
mans only god
And I hear he didn't drink or drug, now imagine if he did smoke a little herb and went to the studio
Wow Mr. Ra playing the drums is something I’ve never seen
best video on planet earth
"THE FIRST BLACK PRE WEATHER REPORT of AFROFUTURISM "
sun ra was teaching musical roots I can see the ancient
ones in the old world jamming just losing themselves and no white people
@@james1552 nope, you don't get to have everything.
@@blackcosmos I'm white, and i concur. Ancient nubian atmosphere exclusively
Beam me up
Adequate amount of cowbell.
Supppper! Космический полет по волнам джазовых струн души!
Wooo!
Amazing, The Greater Light^^
Dance of the Cosmo Aliens...and humans.
this video is special to me
Now I am persuaded - music represents the transcended experience most accurately!
It's baffling that people paid money to hear this and even more baffling they did not leave after about nine minutes.
You are a sad hologram projected from the edge of the universe, out of tune with the world.
Glad you enjoyed the first 9 minutes tho
Really????Fade out on the keyboard solo??? We understand time constraints but Sunny was obviously getting ready for lift off to take us all up but a fantastic short shot of what it was like to be in the presence of the Great Sun Ra...thanks for posting and we want MORE!!!!!
It might have been the constraints of the medium at the time. The tape of film doesn’t last forever, you know….
I feel the same way. That was the one thing that disappointed me about this film.
I wish the french guy would shut up so I can hear Sun-Ra! Damn
The english person here above should be glad of frenchies taking this performance live. Just enjoy it.
Sun ra was the only real musician (angel) a d all others failed..his soul was pure and therefore his frequencies will adjust you to be a better being
The Space Age is here to stay
Thanks so much, that was fantastic! I love June Tyson.
Oh myyy... i must hear the rest of that keyboard solo
fin ultime
swag
*How do you even pull this off?*
This is how deep this Man was to balance it out with African vibes.
Saturn vibes not African
Somebody please turn on the lights!!!
Does anybody know when this was shot?
Ahh playin my favorite
MiniMoog Model B!!!!
Who are the drummers???
This is the outer limits 😮
it aint necessarily so that it aint necessarily so : Sun Ra
Watusa...
woah!
Typical of the French to cut the film just as the Master is warming up...Europeans just don't get it.
You judge a person by the country they were born, might as well walk on one foot.
@@levmyshkin8366 haha i know right, Tony is strange.
@@levmyshkin8366 its quite obviously a cultural judgment, "Europeans" is not a person
While the Europeans weren't "getting it", the Americans (who happened to share the nationality with these genius musicians) ignored these types of concerts, barely recording and preserving the performances for posterity.
YO CAN WE MAKE IT OUR MISSION TO FIND THE REST OF THE VIDEO
This is great, and it’s some of the earliest footage of Mr. Mystery and his Magic band from outer space
No it’s not
@@blankowvsingt yeh it is
When was this shot? I don't see any date...

Unique de son genre...
Wow, Mark Mothersbaugh was right. He *does* like a giant baby slapping the keyboards.
Mark should have said Sun is a giant Daddy on the keyboards because Devo, who I love, are little grandchildren of this style. The Cosmos are the Prime number.
Incredible!!!!!!!
We black people are connected to the God
Some people are easy to con. Sun Ra was a con artist, & I find it hilarious that people took him seriously....even calling him a genius.. Hey, if they're gonna pay, why not?
Humans in general are the greatest joke in universe
Are you awake yet?
@EXPOSING.THE.SATURNISTS Regardless....he conned white folk ...who are easy to con. Just look at any American Greed episode 😎😎
