    Hi Sherry, I use Clark’s Stone & Concrete wax for sealing all my Jesmonite projects. It works great. You just apply and wipe off after 30 minutes and it seals it and is now water resistant. I buy it from Amazon Canada. I hope this helps! 🥰

    I hope I can comment when using the Aqua Cast, EliChem has a calculator that you put the volume of the mold (water weight) into the calculate and it gives you the exact amount of water and powder to use. I also pour half the aqua cast in, and run around and pinch the edges on the underside of the mold and that releases air bubbles. Great first project Sherry, love that dragonfly

    Sherry, my understanding of it is that either wax or a resin top coat will work as a sealer, but it has to fully cure before applying either of those things. How long it takes to fully cure should be on the packaging instructions. Either way it needs to be sealed on all sides.

    Water is lighter than the powder. I was thinking as you were mixing, that's never going to fill that tray lol😂😅

    Checkout the Aquacast calculator. Measure the volume of the mould then put that in the calculator and it says how much powder and water you need 💚🇦🇺

      Absolutely re the calculator on Elichem. They alao make a fabulous sealer for ecoresin and it will be waterptoof x

      So just weigh the empty trinket tray mold?

      @@karenmclaughlan9128 measure how much water (in mls) the mould holds. Enter that into the Elichem calculator and it will tell you how much powder and water you’ll need.

      @annedarmody9132 Tried doing that before and by the time I lifted the mould up to pour into my jug half the water had ran off lol

      @@karenmclaughlan9128 😜 try putting the water in a measuring jug and pouring into the mould, eg put say 300mls in jug then pour into mould, if you have say 50mls left, your mould will hold 250mls.

    You could put glitter resin on the top to give more color and to bling out the inlay

    With the plaster being so light, seems like it would be a measurable amount 🤷‍♀️ meaning 1 cup , etc

    Good morning Sherry😊, waking up in the morning (8:00 am here) seeing that you released a new video is a great start for a holiday 👍. If you do more with aqua cast, think about getting a (dental) oscillator. It evens out the material and it rises bubbles to the surface. Works nice with resin at well. 🤗, Richard

    When it's finished you can weigh this one and then you will know approximately how much you need.

    Hi Sherry,
    The water and aqua cast are not the same weight for a given amount, so you wouldn’t get an accurate fill amount. 😊

    When using water to figure out how much of a medium you need to fill a mold, you do it by volume not weight. 😁

  • @ChibiChula
    @ChibiChula ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Huh... looks like you weren't entirely wrong on how you measure, you just seem to have missed a step. The weight was 140g of water for the full mold and you ended up using 70g of water so I suspect the correct measurement is your original weight measurement divided in half and that should give you the right amount. Considering the insert though, I would mix a bit extra just in case and keep a small jewelry mold around (maybe pre-dusted with mica powders) for any excess.
    Anyway, the end result turned out really cute! 😆👍 Though I'm thinking you might need to add a neon color pigment (or acrylic paint) to get bright colors with this stuff, same with the really fast setting resin that cures white actually. Maybe try that next time?

    Hi Sherry! It's kinda crazy how much lighter that color came out in the end, but its really pretty! From what I have seen there are two types of sealers for eco pours. If if needs to be waterproof I have seen people using acrylic sealers, but if it does not need to be waterproof there are waxes that you can rub on to seal them. I got the kit for JDiction's eco pour and it came with the wax.

    You weighed the water rather than determined the volume, and obviously the aqua cast is heavier than water.
    You should have measured the volume of water in millilitres, and then determined what amounts of water and aqua cast is needed by volume.

  • @Stephanie_Hancock
    @Stephanie_Hancock ปีที่แล้ว

    Weight vs volume, sweetie. You need to calculate how much water you put in. Not how much it weighs. Not sure whether or not I like this casting stuff. It doesn't seem very pretty. Not sure. Take care, Sherry.
