You care about a Killer's right, but not the victims?! Where is the victim's right?? Sheikh Hasina spot on. Nur Chowdhury is the killer whole Bangladesh knows that. Canada should depart him to Bangladesh. If Canada keep sheltering Killers from all around the world then one day Canada will suffer from them.
If he is not truly a murderer, then why did he flee after seeing the camera? Nur Chowdhury fled because he knows he is guilty. It is imperative to repatriate him to Bangladesh. I want to emphasize that the Canadian government should refrain from offering refuge to individuals with potential involvement in criminal activities. Canada, being a peaceful nation, should not extend shelter to someone who might compromise its principles of justice and security.

Chowdhury was granted visitor status in Canada in 1996, and hasn't left the country since. Choudhury's extradition is a thorny issue because Canada has been a fully abolitionist country since 1998 and in 2011 then Canadian envoy to Dhaka had said Canada can't extradite him as he could face the death penalty in his home country
The issue is the sentence of death. Canada has a long standing policy of not extraditing people who are likely to be put to death after being deported. Bangladesh needs to officially take the death penalty off the table in order to get him back.
Sincere gratitude to the CBC Team and Mr. Mark Kelly for exposing the truth. Bangladesh went through very difficult times between 1975 and 1996. Killers were protected by the INDEMNITY ORDINANCE, a kind of savage legislation that is unheard of in the world. At last, a few of the killers were executed by hanging, but others received sanctuary in the United States and Canada. We now know some little-known facts about Nur Chowdhury. He ought to be returned to Bangladesh as soon as feasible.

It makes as much sense that he is in Canada free as it makes sense that under Trudeau, Canadians are losing their freedoms and that there are NA ZIs, (not just children of N Azis) in Canada. Canada has long since lost its way as one of the most liberal forms of government (liberal in the sense of giving citizens the same rights as kings just as there is in the United State, not in the send of a political leaning within the over all liberalism of a form of government.
Despite the exceptional bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and Canada, the matter of the killer Nur remains a significant concern. We hope that the Canadian government will expeditiously resolve this issue.

The supreme court law also has room for negotiation by mentioning 'special cases'. It's only up to the Canadian government's political willingness that is holding the thing back. Deport him Canada!
Good question, but he was in the military which is notoriously corrupt. He is probably financing his own life with his ill-gotten gains as a military officer.

27:53 Now that the dictator Sheikh Hasina has been deposed and cases have been filed against her for committing a massacre, she might apply for political asylum in Canada, where it is "a violation of Charter Rights to deport anyone from Canada who faces death or torture back home". Just imagine Hasina meeting S.H.M.B. Nur Chowdhury in Canada who will be both in the same country on political asylum on the same grounds. 😂😂😂😂
I know you have a limited amount of time to tell a complicated story, but just for the record, Mujib was arrested in March 71, a civil war broke out, and war between Pakistan and India broke out on the 3rd of December. Thank you, Mr. Kelly, for investigating and creating this descriptive content. It was also nice to see the video that you created. When I saw it, I remembered seeing you and your team leaving the hotel in the morning with dozens of camera parts. I was there in front of the concierge and saw you every day during those days. I wish you good health and thank you again. I hope to meet your team again.

Thank you very much for presenting the history of independence and post-independence history of Bangladesh beautifully

Noor Chowdhury was convicted and sentenced to death in absentia in 2010 along with 11 other suspects. But he has been in hiding in Canada. And despite repeated attempts by Sheikh Hasina’s government to appeal to Canada for his extradition, the Trudeau government continues to shield Chowdhury
Police officers were not confident enough to explain about the free and fair investigation has been made.
High commissioner in Canada should not speak loudly as he looks angry while talking.
One more example of Our Failed Canadian bureaucracy of harbouring Criminals from across the globe.
If you don’t like what Canada stands for, why don’t you leave this country?? Canada doesn’t need to learn law and enforcement from Bangladesh.
Right.😂.

A lot of hard work must have gone into this reporting, and Mark Kelley delivers as usual.

I am not an Awami league supporter. But no killers should be able to roam free. Canada's government should work closely to bring justice to this matter.
Great presentation CBC and the team. If it made it to a movie, it will be a Holywood hit. Lawfully I am blind, but let justice prevail soon.
Indians have said it loud and clear Canada is a safe haven for terrorists
If he is not truly a murderer, then why did he flee after seeing the camera? Nur Chowdhury fled because he knows he is guilty. It is imperative to repatriate him to Bangladesh. I want to emphasize that the Canadian government should refrain from offering refuge to individuals with potential involvement in criminal activities. Canada, being a peaceful nation, should not extend shelter to someone who might compromise its principles of justice and security.
I laughed so hard that I died when he said, "Bangladesh judicial system is very much independent." And now my spirit is writing this comment. 😂
Please cover the real history after 1971 . How sheikh mujib became the villain
After Hasina u commented it!!
Bangladesh would NOW ask her country to send her back to Bangladesh to face trial.
thanks CBC news and this channel for revealing this truth. Hope canadian govt. Will take steps Against this criminal.
Peoples Bangladesh is thanking for your Investigation. You have done great work which can't be done by several authorities.
It is so painful to watch a killer breathing open air. No criminal should remain Unpunished.

Nur Chowdhury was a freedom fighter in 1971 and was awarded "Bir Bikram" in 1973 by Sheikh Mujib himself.
but the guy is a traditor if his kills a sitting PM democratically elected @@antelopelol2865
My tears falling from eyes .....silent tear. everytime i recall this and see this, I cry. As a bangladeshi im very sad
Canada will be remembered as Nur Chowdhury as a pain to our heart. SHAME TO CANADA
Canada always sucked. Cold weather.

@@lucasmiller1462 not everywhere lol
The issue is the sentence of death. Canada has a long standing policy of not extraditing people who are likely to be put to death after being deported. Bangladesh needs to officially take the death penalty off the table in order to get him back.
this is a gov funded program mind it
Sheikh Mujib was an autocratic leader.
Canada has ceased to be a civilized country. Too sad.
Nur Chowdhury was a freedom fighter in 1971 and was awarded "Bir Bikram" in 1973 by Sheikh Mujib himself.

What a load of Bullsh*t! Mujib was riding a tiger, he removed all the ways to remove himself from the power by peaceful and political means. He earned his destiny by his misrule and tyranny…..
People who are watching this, do you know what's the current situation in Bangladesh? After 15 years of dictatorship, we took down hasina. That oppressor has fled from our country. The whole country marched against her and her follower. Imagine in this whole video where general people of Bangladesh is in hasina's place and hasina is in Nur choudhury's place. Even her law minister Anisul haque who is in the video, was caught fleeing and taken into custody. I welcome The Fifth Estate to make another video on current situation of Bangladesh and Mass Murderer, thief, traitor Sheikh Hasina. Everything in this video just turned upside down.
The family deserves closure. I think it’s despicable that the Canadian government has left this linger on and still cause so much pain with the family and rubbing salt in the wound of the Bangladeshi people who loved this man.
Thanks CBC news for talking about this topic. Canada has become heaven for criminals. Bangladeshi people want Nur Chowdhury's punishment.

If Chowdry had been a target of Israel, the Mossad would have dealt with him years ago.
It makes as much sense that he is in Canada free as it makes sense that under Trudeau, Canadians are losing their freedoms and that there are NA ZIs, (not just children of N Azis) in Canada. Canada has long since lost its way as one of the most liberal forms of government (liberal in the sense of giving citizens the same rights as kings just as there is in the United State, not in the send of a political leaning within the over all liberalism of a form of government.
word salad
Trudeau is scared Choudhary, if deported, will rat him out & this may expose Canadian governments role in the assassination of Bangladesh's PM.
Despite the exceptional bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and Canada, the matter of the killer Nur remains a significant concern. We hope that the Canadian government will expeditiously resolve this issue.
Those who are watching after 05 August 2024 will surely have a different perspective
Never believe a word Trudeau speaks people.
Why didn't Harper and his gang do anything about this? Harper was PM in 2011 when Noor Chowdry was outed.

lol the country isnt being ruined you're just being chicken little
An excellent program and I must commend Mark Kelley for doing it. Mark has done a great job in explaining everything in a very simple manner. Mark was open, fair and transparent. I am impressed by his professional integrity.
Noor worked as a diplomat in different countries after Bangabandhu was shot dead. When Sheikh Hasina came to power in 1996, she fled Hong Kong and went to Canada. Canada rejected Noor's refugee claim in 2006 and ordered him to leave the country. But he applied for a security risk assessment stating that he would face death penalty if he returned home. And this is how Noor took advantage to live in Canada
Giving a safe place to live and secure the life of a killer, the Canadian Government is also accountable as the killer.
Really good documentary..well put together..thanks
Diplomatic relations should be given precedence in such cases and Canada should be the bigger one to initiate the extradition process. The supreme court law also has room for negotiation by mentioning 'special cases'. It's only up to the Canadian government's political willingness that is holding the thing back.
Deport him Canada!
anyone ask this question... WHO IS FINANCING his stay ...with nice car and condo...
ALWAYS FOLLOW THE $$$
This is the first question I asked myself.
Good question, but he was in the military which is notoriously corrupt. He is probably financing his own life with his ill-gotten gains as a military officer.
Maybe he has a job?
An apartment and a dodge journey ?
after killing of sheikh mujib he was awarded his action by then the military dictator General Zia. he was made ambassador by General Zia and from that he obtain a lot of money....
and Canada talks about human rights and free speech.Bunch of hypocrites
Thanks CBC news for publishing the truth. I hope Canadian Govt will take necessary steps against the criminals. we want justice 🙏
Why the UN is not acting against Canada?
Of course you know all this; I'm just making sure that the record stays clear. BTW Mujib was released long afterwards, in 1972.
Thank u canada for not giving justice to hasina

Same thing with the killers of 300+ passengers--men, women and children--of Air India's Kanishka, flight 182 out of Montreal, who were blown up over the Atlantic by Khalistani terrorists who are given a free pass even today. Canada will pay a heavy price for this and cannot be allowed to escape punishment.
