  • Pulse Oximetry (or Pulse Ox, for short) is a noninvasive method used to measure the saturation of oxygen in the bloodstream. Compatible devices use a combination of red and infrared lights with sensors on the back of the device which can determine the percentage of oxygenated blood (SpO2%) available in your blood. This value should, in general, be 95% or higher in most settings but can be influenced by altitude, activity, and an individual’s health.
    Our bodies distribute oxygenated blood to every part of our body through our respiratory system. Being aware of your SpO2 can help you understand how your body reacts to various situations and can serve as an indication of important changes in your health. Garmin should make a dedicated SP02 wearable. Make it twice as wide and double the battery...maybe even have a fingertip attachment that connects from wrist to finger for increased accuracy. I’d buy that alone g th or $99.

    I've been wearing my Vivoactive 4S for several months now, and it seems to me that the Pulse Ox measuring is way to low. I mostly get values in between 80 and 95, rarely higher than 95. When I get a reading with a finger-device, it's always 98-99-100... I had hoped that Garmin would have a better and more accurate SPO2 monitor, but as it is it is pretty useless 😒

    Somewhat off topic question here, but if I have two Garmin watches (Vivoactive 3 & a Vivomove Style) can the data collected via each watch be collaborated within the same account/app? Or would I have two entirely separate sets of data spread over two accounts?
    FYI I don't have either of these watches yet. One would be for work and the other for home.
    Thanks!

    • @GarminRetailTraining
      @GarminRetailTraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your question. Yes, with the Garmin Connect TrueUp feature, you can wear and sync data collected from multiple activity trackers. Most of our watches are compatible with this feature and only a select few are not. The following link has more information and compatible devices. I hope this helps. support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=a2uguZzTQG4I2HTBvHa0gA

    Is it useful to monitor pulsox during an intense workout to make sure im breathing properly, getting enough o2

    • @GarminRetailTraining
      @GarminRetailTraining  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your question. Trying to track Pulse Ox during a workout would be tricky. Since Pulse Ox tracking in the Garmin smartwatches would require you to be still, you would have to stop to take your reading. Also, once you stop to take a measurement your body is really fast to get back to full oxygen saturation.

    So reading between the lines ..... pulse=ox reads oxygen in your blood by heart rate , elevation ( altimeter ) and GPS movement , ie , it reads what it SHOULD be , and not what it actually is ?

    • @GarminRetailTraining
      @GarminRetailTraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your question. Our Pulse Ox tracking provides an estimation of the user's SpO2%. While every effort is made to ensure a high degree of accuracy, there are certain limitations that can cause inaccurate measurements. The user's physical characteristics, fit of the device, and presence of ambient light may impact the readings, as well as excessive motion and the position of the device. It is important to keep your arm/sensor still for approximately one minute for best accuracy.
