Thought we had lost you to the dark side ( Iggy Pop , Dylan etc ).....lol....Holy Diver for me in its entirety and a few off The last in line. Dug your last metal jeopardy episode too , keep em commin' .... cheers John ..... METAL IS FOREVER.
Man! So many memories to these songs! The Dio band marked my entry on the heavy metal world when I was 13 or 14 year old. I don't remember last time that I listened to the whole discography, so I can't do a Top 10. The Last in Line is probably still the best for me!
10.As Long As It's Not About Love 9.I Speed At Night 8.Lord of the Last Day 7.This is your Life 6.Shame On the Night 5.The Last In Line 4.All the Fools Sailed Away 3.Holy Diver 2.Don't Talk to Strangers 1.Strange Highways
Difficult task to choose ten and put them in order. I'd have to spend days just thinking and listening to make a list. You made some very interesting choices. Great video.
Good list. Id throw Don't Talk to Strangers pretty high on mine. The moment it kicks in....they'll only bring you dooooooooowwwwwwwn!! I still get chills. Caught in the Middle will always be my favorite....so melodic..... the Rush of the thunder, that brings you under. So awesome!!
The whole Holy Diver Album Tracklist and Dream Evil, The Last In Line, Mystery, and We Rock are my favorites! I know that's more than 10! But that's me.
This is a great list! I have high regards for your bottom several picks. This Is Your Life always puts me in mind of a more modern Elf song. And Ronnie was hinting at an Elf reunion, close to his passing. When he did pass, someone took this song and added clips from his time in the hospital, and the entire thing was nearly too much to handle!
Great list. Shame on the night is so ridiculously underrated, all the fulls has the best keyboard solo, and as long as it's not about love could be a great addition.
Man! Been missing all your videos due to work !! Ha ha will catch up ... Be right back brother !!!! Can’t wait. Even the Rush Moving pictures one is still half watched 🤘🏽😅
My fave Dio songs (minus the hits) - Don't Tell The Kids (Angry Machine) - Naked In The Rain (Dream Evil) - All The Fools Have Sailed Away (Dream Evil) - Just Another Day (Sacred Heart) - Evilution (Strange Highways) - One Night In The City (Last in Line) - Straight Through The Heart (Holy Diver) - As Long As It's Not About Love (Magica) - Why Are They Watching Me (Lock Up The Wolves) - Killing The Dragon (Killing The Dragon)
Very impressed anyone can pick a top 10 of Dio songs. Never mind including Rainbow and Sabbath. From the big radio hits like Rainbow In The Dark to the deepest cuts, I can’t do it. He was a poster child of hard rockers that had high intelligence when he spoke and being easy going. Top 10 Dio songs? No can do. 😂
I think all of my Dio band top 10 songs would be on The Last in Line or Holy Diver. The one song I'm surprised was not on the list was Don't talk to strangers. Dio Rules!
It's a great song...I personally think there are at least 10 that are greater. Rainbow in the Dark would probably land just outside the top 10 at 11 or 12. I'm also burnt out on the song. Nothing to do with sanity..just personal taste. I saw this all the time with bands with super strong catalogs and songs like Dio.."Rainbow in the Dark" would beat out a lot of other bands best songs but Dio has so many greats it drops lower on a list (for me).
@@LairoftheAlchemist Obviously, I was kidding about the sanity part, but thank you for the cogent reply. Even though I'm still about a year behind, I'm trying to watch most of your videos and catch up. Keep up the cool vids.
Music 🎼 🎶 🎵 question 🙋♂️ why every runtime starts at 0:00 and ends when the audio is finished that’s what Jonathan Miller said and why every track has to start at 0:00 and finished when the audio is finished so I definitely need to ask you lair of the alchemist what’s your definition of runtime and how do you explain what runtime in music 🎼 is all about and also why is the playing disc or the tracks are on the bottom and the label are at the top?
I ageee that Dio never made many mello songs or ballads. He would have stretched out his horizons so much more if he had done more of that. That was his limitation
I do NOT like the crowd noise being raised in certain parts of King of Rock and Roll. It sounds cheesy instead of pure and natural. Kills the vibe for me
