Solid points! North winds won't blow the water out at least along the central Texas coast. North wind can result in a small tide drop but it takes a northwest and/or west wind to blow the water out.

Thanks Jerry. When we had that first strong northern a little over a month ago, the tides dropped way out just like in the winter. Then the winds switched back south and the tides came back in again. The same thing happens in the spring. When we have had mostly northern wind and really low tides all winter, Then in spring the southern winds start up, and the tide levels raise back up. It is just a pattern that I have noticed. I also believe the winter moon phases cause low tide levels too. We usually don't keep a West wind for long. The West and East wind seem to be a transition wind. Such as when the northern winds are turning southern. Or the other way around. But that's just my take on it. Tight lines!

@@cleanfunfishing 10-4 yeah the moon plays a big part in the tide. That front you mentioned a month or so ago had strong northwest winds for 2 days. North winds parallels our shoreline along the central Texas coast which is why north winds don't push water out. The nw winds are primarily what drives the water out aside from the moon. We have a strong cold front coming in Saturday but the winds are forecast to be from the north so the water won't drop much if any from this weekend's front. I haven't checked when the new moon is tho.

The new moon was a few days ago. It makes sense looking at Google earth that North West would blow out the tides Also. I can't see a straight west though. I mostly mean northern winds which includes North West as well. I will keep an eye on this next northern and see if it does much to the tide levels.

@@cleanfunfishing yep it's mostly nw winds west winds are not very common like you said. When we get a west wind with any velocity it'll do the trick also. The water is pretty low now. I'm ready for a strong front to blow out a little more water then it's game on lol

Ya we got a little more time to sight fish early in the morning and I love really low tides for that. I can't wait 😁👍

Winter is a favorite of mine, those fish stack up so thick in the most predictable areas. Can’t wait for consistent cold

It gets stupid in that sail boat channel during the winter low tides. There might be 20 boats or more in there. And no fish because they ran them all out.

Its not as bad on the weekdays but still can be busy in there. That's why I gave y'all a few other scenarios to try as well. Hopefully they work for you as well as they have for me
