I'm also a software engineer; I'm about to convert the spare room in my apartment into an office; and whilst I've been thinking about having a stab at creating content for TH-cam for some time now, your video has convinced me to just have a go at it. Great video. made some valid points, lot of these TH-cam deskset ups, are given to them to promote the items. IN all reality, half of the stuff doesn't make you any more productive or make more money, sometimes it's just more stuff for no reason. Other things make sense or can make the setup more enjoyable and inspiring... As you we made our money in life through investments and working, not social media so we had crappydesks growing up, or make money in a coffee shop, it's all about the mindset.

It’s really easy with social media for people to think that a $5K home office setup is table stakes for having a workspace.

Great first vid, I like the final comment. I would say this is a case study in why businesses sponsor TH-camrs with free gear. So many of the products here would have been given free to other TH-camrs, which is a big part of the reason people imitate them. Not saying they're not great products, it's just an interesting cycle to watch.

It’s really important that people take their time and not buy them haphazardly since they can be really pricey. I spend all of my salary to buy many gadgets and find out later that it doesn't suit me or my room. After I watched your video, I realized that I should spend more time making a plan before buying anything to make them go along and sit very nicely together like your space. And better save up to buy them than have the debt like now.
