  • 6 1/2 hours car to car. Drone flying was done from outside of the park boundary. Please respect your local drone laws. Crux IMO was coming off the Markhor peak, might want to bring a rope to rappel if you're not confident downclimbing.

      Thanks! It's fairly exposed most of the way but pretty fun! I think for most parties a rope would be helpful to keep things safe.

    Your video is terrific! I can't believe at the 6 minutes 18 second mark, you are walking down that spine!! We were there yesterday! The sprinkling of pebbles on that teeny tiny ridge sketched me out! Downclimbed via the straddle-method! Might the background music be a little more reflective of the adrenalin filled journey that this one is? lol! Not really a walk in the park!

    • @BCHiking
      @BCHiking  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! On my first trip down to set up my camera I was straddling the ridge a bit as well, but after climbing back up again to do it for the camera, it felt easy on the second go. Fun, but not really adrenalin inducing!

    Very beautiful video. That camera really produces some great looking shots. Do you do any color correcting or adjusting of the footage after? I love the look of the footage, makes me wanna buy that camera. I have a Nikon Z6 currently but these cinema cameras look very interesting.

    • @BCHiking
      @BCHiking  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I have a power grade that converts it to an Alexa rec 709 emulation, then I tweak it slightly from there. I usually just adjust contrast and colours but very minimally. The Blackmagic Cinema Cameras are fairly inexpensive for the image quality they give you

    what a cool peak! where does this start?

    • @BCHiking
      @BCHiking  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! It starts close the the needle peak parking lot, you have to cross a construction site to get to the entrance in the forest. If you show up before 8am there’s nobody there, but I’ve asked the workers there and they let me through while they were taking a break. There’s gps tracks on AllTrails that give a approximate entrance to Markhor peak. Don’t expect a proper trail, it’s more like bushwhacking a way up until you find the rock

      @@BCHiking ohhh this is in the Coq, gotcha. I was confusing this for the needles on the north shore for some reason. cool, thanks!

    Just thinking out loud here, I don't get why the local parks are so sensitive to the drones?!
    When those tourist planes and helicoptors would fly over supper close to (within 100 meters), say, the black tusk on daily basis making load noises and scare people who's climbing the chimmeny and nothing is said against those?!
    We have too many people that's incappable of thinking critically here in BC.

      overall great video. great camera placements, a lot of camera grabs, very impressive.

    • @BCHiking

      I agree the full ban is a harsh, if they’re truly worried about the damage to wildlife they would banned the multiple airplanes/helis that have fly very close to the ground. I’ve had crop dusters fly over my head not even 20m above! I think it was more of a loud minority of people flying drones irresponsibly (close to people/wildlife) that ruined the perception of them. They’re extremely useful tools, and much smaller and quieter than the old phantoms and barely audible further than 10-20m out especially with the micro drones (sub 249 grams). Having an advanced license, it’s possible to request permission to fly the drones per the park’s service discretion. It would be nice to (if licensed) to not have to bug them each time!
