- Hiked in Summer of 2021. First time camping, went pretty well.
Took around 3 hours to reach the campsite from the parking lot, and about an hour and a half from the campsite to the summit.

FYI, BC Parks has removed the free chicken wire to wrap your vehicle that they used to keep at the parking lot. Make sure to bring some of your own!

@@Mason11717 Hey! I didn't record a GPS file this trip, but it's very straightforward from the campsite. You continue up the hill past the lake where you get water, and go up the gully. Then just scramble up the, and skirt around the opposite side (side of the mountain that's further away from applebee) then go up another (looseish) gully to reach the summit.

@@Mason11717 Yeah it wouldn't be unreasonable to do so! The drive in is about an hour from the highway though, so make sure to factor that in too
Normally I hate these type of videos but this is tolerable! No stupid music, no over dramatization. No fish eye lens. No stupid antics or asinine narration. Just a competent person going about his business. Well done. Maybe the first TH-camr I’ve seen that it looks like I’d be happy to do a trip with.
Wow! Lots of work to setup the camera, walk away, return, pick up the camera, and repeat. The resulting footage is clearly a few notches above the other videos taken with a handheld cam or mounted on the helmet. Some of the angles were very deliberate and the framing was very cinematic. The opening forest scene's lighting was very dramatic. Simply amazing! Thank you.

AT what point were you using the rope for this scramble? Awesome shots, looking to do the Bugaloo's this spring
Was going to use it to rappel the BS col for pigeon but ended up not using it at all and just did this hike instead

Why do all of the vehicles, in the beginning, have small logs perched against their tires and back bumpers?
There’s tire/brake line eating porcupines I the area. The chicken wire keeps them out! I’d recommend packing extra chicken wire if you go there on a weekend, they might run out at the parking lot!

There should be a trail map to the Applebee campground. The trail is pretty easy to follow once you're there, it's the peak directly above!
Can someone explain why all the cars parked in the opening scene have sticks leaned against them? What does this protect from or accomplish?
They're there to prevent the brake line eating porcupines from wrecking your car. I believe they're attracted to the road salt on the bottom.

Thank you! There’s rubber/brake line eating porcupines in the area. There’s a big pen of chicken wire/sticks and rocks in the parking lot to help protect your car from them. It’s been busy in the past few years though, so I’d recommend bringing your own if you’re going on a weekend!
I strive to do this one day. Just alone with nature.
Update: I did what I said. Can’t wait to do more of this stuff as summer approaches
What's up with the logs and rocks around the vehicles in the parking lot??
There's porcupines in the parking lot that like to eat the salt off your tires and brake lines! The chicken wire keeps them out, and it's pinned down by logs and rocks
What kind of pants are thoes?
They're the Arcteryx Sullivan Pants, I got them for 30 bucks at a warehouse sale. Wouldn't recommend though, they only lasted 2 seasons before ripping at the crotch!

Thanks John! There's rubber eating porcupines in the area. At the parking lot they have a big pen with chicken wire in it, you can use rocks to pin it around your tires to keep them out

Have never been there. Not much into climbing anymore but was wondering if there would be some hiking or low level scrambling in the area.
Hi rickrayn! The one I did was pretty much the easiest hike in the Bugs. Almost everyone just scrambles this route, it's considered a rest/rainy day hike. The hike up to the campsite is basically a walk, similar to the Chief in Squamish but it's a very scenic one and worth doing!

It's the Kathadyn BeFree water filter! It's decent but it can get clogged pretty easily after a few trips. I've unclogged it successfully by soaking in water/white vinegar overnight.

I think it usually clears up in late June/July. It was good to go a bit earlier last year from the heatwave!

Yes, it was July of last year. The heatwave had melted the snow significantly more than most years however.
