Re: Humans getting disgusted by their own inner workings--I think part of it is because if you can see any of it, you are pretty much guaranteed to not be in a good situation. Like, if I'm looking at my own spleen, that's probably a bad thing.
Trott throws compatibilism out the window right off the bat; Ross tries to express the idea of qualia without knowing the term; Smith's just helping them along and happily listening to them fumble about in uncharted territories... I loved it ^^! Keep it up, Smiffy. Give them something to be puzzled about, like the existence of the external world, the meaning of meaning, or the definition of art... There are so many problems you can easily explain to people yet utterly stump them with...
I love you guys for touching on Causal Determinism. Everything is a jumbled mix of chain reactions! There's input and output for everything; the output of any interaction is the input for the next... all interconnecting. Mind boggling!
Congrats hat films, I've finished drawing Ross as a trubbish, he has a ps4 controller and he's yelling SALMON BOOOOOOOOY! With a Pringles tube next to him. I plan to draw Trott as a sealio to the right of him with a ps4 controller really concentrating, and smiffy to the right of HIM, as a duosion using physic on a ps4 controller, saying "c'mon Trott, put it in the mixer"
Ahhh I love the philosophy discussions. They were always some of my favorite courses in college, and some of my favorite reading or plot ideas, so getting to hear you guys talk about them is really cool, especially as you guys have similar views but still different ideas. It's really fun! :P
maybe free will is more like a trials track. you’re put on a specific driving line but you have control of the bike. you can put time into improving your skills, or use lots of flair, or try to brute force your way through. you can also fuck around aimlessly, but then you might DNF.
I can decrease and increase my heart rate by just thinking about it. Mind you, it took me years to learn how and it's not something everyone has the patience for. However, a nurse wasn't able to take my pulse once because I had slowed my heart rate down too much. I told her that her equipment must be malfunctioning and quickly sped my heart back up. After that she had no problem getting a 100/70 reading.
ben ingle I looked for the bit Smith was talking about but could not find it. Would you happen to have a link or a search term I could use or some such? Did watch some of his other vids though. He's definitely funny :)
I recently took a Psych class and my professor told us how a man hypnotized himself to block all pain during a root canal procedure. He used no anesthesia. Not sure how true that is but considering how powerful the brain is and how much we humans are still discovering how the brain works, I wouldn't be surprised if it were true. Unconsciously, our brain tells the organs to work, so I don't see why there isn't a way for us to take full, conscious control via meditation/hypnosis.
Muley That was Trials Evolution, ages ago. Pretty sure they recorded it, but I can't be bothered to figure out which of their hundred-something episodes it's in.
Muley I cant remember which episode, but they did do it on one of the trials evolution episode, possibly in the latest 50 if your really desperate to find it :P
Honestly, if I could pick anyone in the world to hang out for a day or a couple of hours or whatever and have a long conversation with, I'd pick Smiffy.
Andrew A well apparently you believe everything they tell you in school, you can you up to 100% of your brain power on certain tasks but not at all times or your brain would exhaust itself, your brain sits idle on about 10-15% brain power overall and most tasks don't even take that much due to the fact they are so simple.
I've always wondered what other people see because I'm red green colour blind. I've always thought that we could all see different colours for say, blue but since we were told "HEY U LITTLE SHIT THAT IS BLUE NOT RED" that we all say the same names of colours but yet see different types of light
Morality's kinda a weird issue. I've never really bought into the "all morality is subjective/product of soeciety nothing about it matters" argument because every modern civilization has kinda developed the whole "don't murder pointlessly/don't bang children/don't be a total shithead" thing independently So while there are things up for debate there are things that are just naturally Good or Evil. Only the Destiny Poo knows for sure.
Still, there will always be gray areas. Like murder for example: In some cultures abortion is considered to be murder, catholics even consider the use of contraception to be murder.
Yinlock Humans are inherently social creatures, a lot of modern morality comes from basic group behaviour. For instance, if you really like killing people, you probably aren't much use to your tribe, so murderers are ostracised and murder becomes considered morally wrong.
***** People also can feel protective towards the children of others, going back to the tribal example the children of another family in the tribe are just as important to the group's future as your own children, so it makes sense to look out for them.
SOOO close, I thought at the end that Smiffy would win (meaning Trott would FINALLY FUCKING LOSE, which is what Im waiting for), but I forgot that least faults also gives you points :p
I think you should play Dayz again; not the mod but standalone. It's pretty good now, with more weapon's and survival aspects. I know it is still in Alpha but the mod was a mod not a full game.
Re: Humans getting disgusted by their own inner workings--I think part of it is because if you can see any of it, you are pretty much guaranteed to not be in a good situation.
Like, if I'm looking at my own spleen, that's probably a bad thing.
I love how Smith can just casually talk about Philosophy and really deep stuff whilst eating beef jerky and playing a motorbike game
So... Trials are philosophy lessons now?
Izzy Hunt Philosophy corner with Haatttfilms!
Izzy Hunt Yeah, it's painful. The sooner people start making interesting tracks the better.
Helldhaz ...at what point did I complain about the low quality of the tracks they're playing?
In fact, at what point did I complain at all?
Helldhaz If you don't like it, don't watch it. I'm sure the episode title was enough warning about the so-called 'philosophical shite'.
I love it I'm not gonna lie when the chats are deep it makes the video really good
Trott throws compatibilism out the window right off the bat; Ross tries to express the idea of qualia without knowing the term; Smith's just helping them along and happily listening to them fumble about in uncharted territories... I loved it ^^!
Keep it up, Smiffy. Give them something to be puzzled about, like the existence of the external world, the meaning of meaning, or the definition of art... There are so many problems you can easily explain to people yet utterly stump them with...
I'm liking these random philosophical discussions
It's all 'bout dat Basement, 'bout dat Basement
No Attic
It's all about to die bout to die just stop it
Trott won again? How surprising.
Spoiler alert much, I thought Ross has a chance there
I was just doing what Ross told me to, why is everyone fighting. Q.Q
I was joking... I was trying to be sarcastic that's why I wrote "I thought Ross had a chance there"
AthenaWhisper Ptrott.
Philosophical discussions definitely need to be a recurring Trials feature!
Slender Fish No thanks.
scrott: 147
sniff: 107
gross: 66
Reece Wouters OOH, RANDY!
I like Smith's approach to his mission of 'Say something deep' as if it's a choose your own adventure book!
I love when they talk about advance subjects and philosophical topics; it's the reason Trials is one of my favourite series. :)
I love you guys for touching on Causal Determinism.
Everything is a jumbled mix of chain reactions! There's input and output for everything; the output of any interaction is the input for the next... all interconnecting. Mind boggling!
I genuinely enjoyed the bits of philosophy! Would definitely love more of this!
Congrats hat films, I've finished drawing Ross as a trubbish, he has a ps4 controller and he's yelling SALMON BOOOOOOOOY! With a Pringles tube next to him. smith, the word you were looking for is an involuntary action: a reaction, feeling, or movement you cant control, ex: heart beating
"It's all about the basements now."
..Said Josef Fritzl.
Ahhh I love the philosophy discussions. They were always some of my favorite courses in college, and some of my favorite reading or plot ideas, so getting to hear you guys talk about them is really cool, especially as you guys have similar views but still different ideas. It's really fun! :P
Ah these take me back to college philosophy, oh how i hated it and loved it for being so easy to BS your way through xD
I think the philosophy talks make these really interesting. And also you slow down your heartbeat by holding your breath :D
I quite like how you guys talk about incredibly deep shit while driving some bikes through a field ;p
Just like Ross is Hornby for Trotts ass
Just from the thumbnail I can tell I'm going to enjoy this video
"Pterodacty Ptrack"
Spencer Falk Yes, that is a thing that was in the video, well done
Alex M But it wasn't though Jim, the missing L has surely ruined the joke for all eternity.
SALMON BOOOOOOOOOY!!!
I love episodes like this
Creg. I've seen that Aussie stand-up routine about the love egg. It was very good. He uses chop sticks to get it out IIRC.
Trott swings both ways, Dooby doo, the jungle vip
Films of the hat! Hat Films.
Could touched on Dawkin's gene - centered theory of evolution. We are survival machines to our gene overlords.
A bird can fly, but a fly can't bird...

All I could think of when Smith started with the *P*terodactyl thing was Gravity Falls...
I was thinking of a Terodactyl. xF
Lily Chambers I wish the next episode would just come out already, it's getting really interesting
AriZonias But... but I *like* the pins.
AriZonias Really?! I can keep the pins?! I mean, yes. Thank you oh wonderful overlord.
AriZonias I haven't broken my knee yet..

These maps were very well designed
The comedian was jim jefferies, ive seen him live hes pretty good.
ben ingle Can you explain why he puts vibrators up his arse.
ben ingle Interesting
+Brickcellent Why not?
ben ingle I looked for the bit Smith was talking about but could not find it. Would you happen to have a link or a search term I could use or some such?
Did watch some of his other vids though. He's definitely funny :)
Vincent Oostelbos Search jim jefferies the egg story
There is a book about crapping specifically, it's called "everybody poops."
And the less popular "nobody poops but you"
Smiffy eating all the time!!
Trott breaking out the Jungle Book soundtrack. Haven't listened to that in years.
+Hat Films there are actually mobks that are so in tune with their bodies that they can slow their heart rate down to less that 1bpm.
monks*
60 fps, gotta love it
I'd love to hear smithy talk about morality
11:30 you should go read Psychosis
SHAWN MICHAELS JUST GOT MENTIONED ON A HATFILMS VIDEO. INSTANT FAVOURITE VIDEO
Hat films needs a deep talk podcast
I recently took a Psych class and my professor told us how a man hypnotized himself to block all pain during a root canal procedure. He used no anesthesia. I'd love to have a philosophical chat with Smith
My room is in the attic haha... So ours is used often. XD
I have no choice but to like and subscribe.
Wise words from Alsmiffy at the end there :p
Deep Matrix philosophy from the Chris Trout
This episode made me have several panic attacks haha Jesus christ talking of the heart beat frakes me out these days
well atleast i was in a good mood when i started this episode i guess
Anyone know if they recorded themselves playing Trotts track? If so, can you please tell me the episode! o:
Muley Trott never finished it if i remember rightly. Lost the data somehow, can't remember exactly >.
I don't think all three of them played it at the same time, and of they did it will have been on a stream ages ago, gl finding the VOD lololol
Muley That was Trials Evolution, ages ago. Pretty sure they recorded it, but I can't be bothered to figure out which of their hundred-something episodes it's in.
Muley Look on their Twitch I think it's on their old streams
Muley I cant remember which episode, but they did do it on one of the trials evolution episode, possibly in the latest 50 if your really desperate to find it :P
Joke's on you, Trott; Everyone (who would use either an attic or a basement) uses attics in Arizona, because houses aren't built with basements here.
Honestly, if I could pick anyone in the world to hang out for a day or a couple of hours or whatever and have a long conversation with, I'd pick Smiffy.
Smith should become philosopher lol
FINALLY
I imagine that if your could use 100% of your brain's power, you could control the movement of your own organs...
Andrew A We do use 100% of our brain, just not all at once. If we do, we get a seizure.
Ciarán Mcgannon i think he means if you could consciously use all of your brain power, as most functions are outside of conscious thought processes
Andrew A If you're unable to use 100% of your brain's "power" then perhaps it's best you ask for help from a specialist.
Andrew A if i can use 100% of my brain, my dick will still be in charge
Andrew A well apparently you believe everything they tell you in school, you can you up to 100% of your brain power on certain tasks but not at all times or your brain would exhaust itself, your brain sits idle on about 10-15% brain power overall and most tasks don't even take that much due to the fact they are so simple.
nice wheely ross
Who would like smith to be a philosophy teacher
Did anyone else notice that Trott was wearing Zer0's helmet in the fourth race?
Here in the future where their editor is called Craig
Ummm smith said he was eating so beef jerky.... Is it weird if I was as well?
I'M SUPRISED
I took a college class about Morality and Ethics, lol.
Is there a way you can play custom tracks on Trials Fusion online? If there is if anyone could tell me it would be really appreciated :)
I like trials !
i hope chris trotts black belt is in my attick ;)
Lol, your thoughts on will and consciousness were flawed to shit xD
LOL.. I loved when Trott started singing the king of the swingers bit (fabulous rendition!!
if all your videos we're just Smith talking about abstract theories, you'd get all the subs.
TRIALS!!!!!!
that skin on trotts character is definetley zero from borderlands 2
I'm surprised
I loved smiths religious education lesson.
lol. trials. philosophy. british men.
it's like i'm back at university.
"smith, talk about something deep", and then they spend the rest of the video talking about something deep.
Cool.
Jim Jefferies is amazing!
Andrew Parsons His bit on gun control and oscar pistorious is the best
Andrew Parsons If you havent watched it and you like Jim Jefferies, watch Legit its fantastic!
I've always wondered what other people see because I'm red green colour blind. I've always thought that we could all see different colours for say, blue but since we were told "HEY U LITTLE SHIT THAT IS BLUE NOT RED" that we all say the same names of colours but yet see different types of light
i wish they had another podcast, kinda like the YoGPoD, where they just talk about a load of shit unscripted like this because it is 10/10
"another podcast" meaning i'm highly aware of hatchat already. it's like people enjoy being ignorant xo
Personally I'm amazed trout won
hat films - from love eggs to Pterodactls XD
I'm Surprised!!!
Is trott's character model Zer0 from Borderlands 2?
Nah, helmet's wrong.
Charlie Maletich no it's his brother 8ight
I'm surprised! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh
