    I don't think it's a matter of people "not liking" the Serpa. It's actually a very unsafe holster and has been banned from many shooting classes and gun ranges across the country due to the frequency for negligent discharges.
    Other than that, good video.

    • @UnprofessionalOutdoors
      @UnprofessionalOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Good to know. I had heard of some instances of accidental discharges with the Serpa but thought it was relatively small. Might have to invest in a new holster.

    Good review. I need to advise you the Blackhawk Serpa holster has had issues, like the button locking up, when any amount of debris gets in the crevices around the button. For a quality pistol, like a HK, you should check out Vedder holsters. Not cheap, but much better made, and higher quality., which a Heckler and Koch pistol deserves. For OWB the " Lightdraw" with the optional pancake wing belt loops is tops.

      @@LoneStarLawman thanks and glad you liked the review. This video is a few years old and I’ve since parted ways with the serpa holster. I ended up adding a reddot to this and got a holster from Guerrilla Tactical that is compatible with my Safariland setup. It’s a way better setup than what I had.

    2:02: "I don't know if it's because of my hand placement" (the slide doesn't lock back on the last round fired). Put the pistol in a bench grip and test fire it. I'd be willing to bet it is indeed your hand placement... and that happens as people switch to different firearms. I've no doubt you'll get this sorted out in short order. I switched out my new P2000 magazine release paddle with a HK45C extended mag release. Took less than a minute to do and what a huge improvement. Just waiting for Trijicon to send me my night sights... five days and not even shipped yet.

    Been really considering this gun as I’d like a larger compact sized DA/SA carry gun for the colder months.
    HK no doubt makes top quality products. It’s just the capacity and decocker location that has me not so excited about it.
    Only other gun I have my eye on is the Sig sp2022. Other than that I haven’t seen anything else that even sorta interests me. Shame how much DA/SA has died.

    • @UnprofessionalOutdoors
      @UnprofessionalOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I love DA/SA guns. I debated on converting it to an LEM trigger, which would have removed the decocker, but I’m so used to it as is that I decided to leave it. Have not tried the Sig SP2022 but have heard it’s a great gun.

      @bmaxse ปีที่แล้ว

      @@UnprofessionalOutdoors I got the "enhanced" mag release (from HKParts, the ones with non black colors).
      These are way too large out the sides but the worst part is, the serrations (quite deep/sharp) of the top of the paddles continues down the side edges, and the corners are not rounded off much,
      And so when drawing with reasonable amount of speed/force, the middle finger rams right into the paddle wing and almost cut into the flesh/bone. It's absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable.
      I Dremel'd both sides and all corners, took all the color off too then, but then it's useable.
      I kept it because the bottom contour is closer (less gap) to the grip and eliminates the pinching of the stock mag release when inserting a mag fast/hard.
      But otherwise, i strongly NOT recommend it.

    Probably doesn't lock back on empty due to the heavier weight on the recoil spring which is common with compact/subcompact. Mine does the same which I like bc less probably for fails and helps with round count and speed reloads with one in the chamber

      The first handgun I learned to shoot in was a HK USP which is a DA/SA with a safety and I own an HK45 (my favorite handgun) which is also a DA/SA with a safety, so I guess I’m just really used to that setup. Also, when I shoot USPSA matches you can holster a DA/SA cocked and locked as long long as the safety is engaged.

    What's the advantage of the exposed hammer model over the non exposed one?

    • @UnprofessionalOutdoors
      @UnprofessionalOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you referring to striker fired versus hammer fired? The HKP2000 only comes in a hammer fired version. The only striker fired pistols HK makes are the VP9 and VP40, which I've never fired so I can't really speak to them, but they look awesome. There are tons of debates online about striker vs. hammer. Personally I have more experience with hammer fired pistols and love the feel, being able to manually manipulate them, and external safeties. That being said strikers have a ton of pros also. Would recommend trying out a few and seeing what’s feels best for you.
