Beautiful oud fragrance,been wearing it since the release,I have to add the other 2 to my collection,neroli entrenoir is also stunner that I can't stop wearing,only reason I haven't purchased it yet is cause I despise the bulb atomizer but luckily my SA has given me tons of samples to hold me over until the spray atomizers arrive here in the states.
I contacted a couple Guerlain boutiques including the one u go to & none of them have gotten the new spray bottles in yet & most likely won't until the bulb ones have sold out & that might not be until as far as next yr sadly.
i agree, the bulbs aren't worthy of the fragrance but our prayers have been answered for new sprayers. Neroli Outrenoir is great for keeping fresh and complex enough to keep it from getting boring during the course of a full day and I'm really enjoying it as well. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Ambre Eternelle and Cuir intense by Gueirlan turned me into an oud-addicted obsessed person I am so happy to discover the Middle Eastern rose oud fragrances precisely because their high-quality oud base fragrances are stunning, enigmatic,opulent and amazing and never linear! To my nose Oud Essential smells like a gas station which describes synthetic oud, whereas real agarwood is like going on a date with wonderfulness for a lifetime.
Guerlain and Chypre goes together. It doesn't matter if parfumer is Roja Dove or some Dipstick. Guerlain love Chypre. I own the new formulation of Mitsouko and the one from 80's and they are ok. The reason they add Oud is to make western market happier. I like Oud but most of them are synthetic just like Amber. I do prefer heavier Oud like Eternal Oud and even Pure Oud by Kilian. Stuff like Guerlain and Roja Dove are basically people pleasing ouds. With Oud, either you love it or hate it, it's as simple as that. As for Oud essential, I have to buy it. I sometime don't like Amber Eternal but again sometimes I do. I think the problem is not with these parfums. It's just after owning so many bottles of different parfums, our expectations are getting higher.

Wait, you mean to say that after all Roja charges he doesn't use real oud either? There's many Ouds that I do enjoy and I gather they are all synthetic but I wish to see a development in the fragrance world and not brands just copying each other's success.
If I had to pick one from the Collection it would be Ambre Eternal, more challenging than the others but also more rewarding. Thanks for the comment.
+U Smells Good I didn't mean that Roja uses synthetic or cheap Oud. I actually met him quite a few time. It's just that if you buy pure Oud parfums from UAE, they are more potent. I think it's hard for people who love Montales or pleasant Oud smelling scents, enjoy hard core ouds. Try Jabir from Kemi.
I find this very strong and I need the smallest amount. I need to really be in the mood for it, I wear Habit Rouge a lot though

My favourites are Nuit de Feu and Ombré Nomade from LV and Bois Mysterieux and Santal Royal from the honey bees, Christine’s knees
They conceived Guerlain being a serious Oud-based parfumeur...

Yea. I'm done with western ouds unless it's a very minor note. I honestly don't mind springing for pure high quality oud oils in the interest of learning more. But these days I don't shop for a perfume marketed to the West with oud. Eugene your review makes me want to try the other two Guerlain fragrances you mention though!
It's good when you wear it in europe, you can't wear oud here, people are disgusted when you wear "pure oud" you have to wear these types of perfume here...

I don't like oud much although I'm a middle eastern, the way they excessively use it here chokes me.
still got 10 ml sample from Guerlain boutique ... never worn it, unwearable, not a fan ... absolutely too much for me. (only for heavy asphalt fans :D)
Hah, again, agreed, especially that Oud is the current "dog food" of the industry. Used even if not needed, perhaps just to justify the oud thumbnail on the Fragantica page. As was with tobacco and ambroxan for awhile, I guess the buying public gets all hot and horny over oud.
And it seems here as well. Oud Essential sounds really appealing to me, especially the opening. And seemingly doesn't even need the oud in the first place!

I kind of relate it to the aqua trends of the 90's and ozonic accords of 2000, its in market trend to wear something "masculine" and oud-y. Just waiting on the first to combine bubblegum and oud for a big payday.
