My thoughts on the Guerlain Les Absolus D'Orient Fragrances Collection. It's a ranked video but there seems to be a price hike from $200 to $260 per bottle? Plus is Patchouli Ardent completely gone? Eek. It's so so good. Please watch to find out what I think of this collection and which of the 7 or 8 with Ambre Eternel is my favorite of the bunch. I wonder if I'd spend more on fragrances if my pockets were deeper. For now, samples, swaps or giveaways will have to do. I won a giveaway from Cafleurebon years ago through your page on the first try but I haven't entered any giveaways since. I think it's time I start again. However, my first buy will be DSH Vanille Botanique. I had it years ago after you suggested it and I loved it. Simply delicious. I don't think I can hang with most collectors, but I've been pretty lucky finding deals in small shops here and there. Anyway, love your videos and in depth take on fragrances. You have a true love for the art.

I'm so happy you decided to discuss about this line. Santal Royal is one of my favs and reach for most out of my entire perfume collection. There's something about it that's so intoxicating that I can't stop smelling it on myself. It's just such a beautiful masterpiece. I purchased this bottle less than 6 months ago and just bought another back up through a discounter for only $150 (a steal) since I also noticed that the price has been going up $250+ or has become harder to find through some retailers. Anyways, I enjoyed listening to your personal opinions on each one and thought about trying others in this line, but I think I'm going to stick with my fav.

Great video. In Europe i think the plan is to phase out Bois Mysterieux for the new Epices Exquises. If you look on the advert for the Epices, it shows the lineup at the end of it and there is no Bois Mysterieux.

I just bought this at the Duty Free - I tried the Oud / Green bottle and just fell in love immediately. I was intending to just buy a replacement for my Vetiver but this smelled very special for me. Now that I know it’s 260 in the USA I’m happy I bought it for 176 @ DUTY Free in Napoli.
Whaddy know, I posted my comment about Bois Mysterieux transporting me before I got to the end of your video and discovered it was at the top of your list. Well, there you go, my impression confirmed!
I only know four of them and I like Oud essential and Bois mysterieux. For the time being, you can still find them for around 100-110 Euros, but probably soon the prices will go up. Starting next month I know many brands that will raise their prices ( or so I've read ): Memo, Matiere premiere, L'artisan parfumeur, Le Labo, Penhaligon's, The house of oud. I don't know though if only in Italy or everywhere.

Ambre Eternel is my all time favourite. It doesn’t go that animalic on my skin and I simply love it. Sadly discontinued like you said so I cherish my bottle even more. Santal Royal is also a great one from this line.

Thanks Sebastian I really wanted to learn more about this line , it does sound like most of these are hard to wear . I bought a 10ML CUIR INTENSE and glad I did nice but not great . I think the only other 2 I would be interested in is BOIS MYSTERIEUX & SANTAL ROYAL if I could get a decant . The price hike is a joke IMO ... but as you said the supply chain is really a mess , it's so bad you go to KFC and their out of chicken breasts and fries and it's like wait a minute that's all you sell is FN chicken 😡😂. Santal Royal is definitely my favourit. Bois Mystérieux and Encens Mythique were first launched in the Les Déserts d'Orient collection. Bois was called Songe D'un Bois d'Ete and Encens was Encens Mythique D'orient. There was also one called Rose Nacree du Desert.

Bois Mystérieux is my beloved Songe d'un Bois d'été repackaged and renamed. I preferred the old packaging but understand why they changed the name. Thankfully, the juice is still the same. As far as the price goes, I will be thinking long and hard before buying any others in this line. I just bought a back up of Bois Mysterieux on Saks Off Fifth. The only other place I could find it was Dillards and they have 2 bottles left. I wonder if this going to be discontinued or not sold in the USA going forward.
Crazy.... I remember when Guerlain sold the 200ml of Santal Royal for $260 for about a month and that size went away after that. I never bought a fragrance so fast 😂
Prices of everything in this world have risen and will go even more higher, even if we go back to pre pandemic condition (which might take another few years), prices would never go down

I first bought Oud essentiel, my wife loves it. In the air smells great, but strong and a bit chemical if you put your nose on your arm. Then I bought Boix Mystérieux, at the store I liked it but at home it took my some tries and I finally like it. Funny you notice they are similar in some way, I notice that also. This line is to smell in the air, the sillage, not at all in your arm with the nose at one inch. Great channel!

I've tried a few from the line. My favorite was Bois Mysterieux from those I tried but I find the name a bit misleading. I barely got any wood, it's mostly just a leather fragrance on my skin.

I've been looking for this video ever since I got into this Guerlain collection. Bois Mysterieux grew on me for sure but personally Encens Mythique and then Musc Noble, Oud Essentiel and Santal Royal are my favourites. Cuir Intense and Patchouli I absolutely hated and only ones I don't own from this collection. The famous one that preceeded this collection was Rose Nacree du Desert which my guy at Guerlain said to me was basically a mix of Oud Essential and Musc Noble. In terms of prices - even Harrods is cheaper than what you are saying about US prices.

Finally, I mentioned before to you about enscense mythique, its my number 1 in this collection and I'm addicted to this fragrance, but I found every bdy is really have different nose,, i buy boise mysterious according to your review but unfortunately its not my cup of tea,, but I think guerlain is a nishe brand, each fragrance needs time to develop on skin, that's my openion, I love guerlain and I can tolerate all its fragrances 😌💗
Mine as well. Encens is beautiful. I bought Bois and it stinks like body odor with cedar. I also bought Nishane Ambra Calabria through his recommendation and sold it. Musc Noble sounds great though.

I think they increase the prizes because of transportation costs, we are heading towards financial crisis, so they probably will keep increasing. Here luckily you can still find most of them for about 100 euros, but maybe not for long. Love Santal Royale and Ambre Eternel, I also like Cuir Intense but sadly I find it not wearable.
My favourites are the less loved ones - cuir, patchouli and musc. Wouldn't get a full bottle though, I find the entire series very overwhelming and couldn't see myself using up 125 ml.

Hi Sebastian. Recently, I bought Guerlain "Bois Mysterieux" and "Encens Mythique". "Bois Mysterieux" instantly has become one of my favorite fragrances. It might even be in a tie for first with my two favorite fragrances, which are Amouage "Jubilation XXV Man" and V Canto "Mea Culpa". I've had a lot of excellent fragrance discoveries this year, (e.g. Amouage "Imitation Woman", "Brioni For Men EDP Intense", and more) but "Bois Mysterieux" is probably my favorite discovery this year.

I adore Santal Royal, but I agree it's not particularly Sandalwood forward. I get much more rose and oud, with just hints of sandalwood. When I first bought it I found it overwhelming to my nose, but I'm not sure if I've gotten used to it or if it's calmed down over the years, I now really enjoy the scent. Beautiful to me. Complex, but I find it well blended enough that it's not *too* complex.
I think it’s very sandalwood forward. For me the oud anchors the smell of sandalwood and another thing I like about it is that the dill aspect of sandalwood which appears in Santal33 and Santal Musc and others, according to others..

I have and love Bois Mysterieux and I have Santal Royal on order , due to arrive soon and I bought at a good price . The price hikes are a bad move imo …. Times are tough for many so I only foresee a drop in sales for Guerlain , hopefully they will backtrack as I adore the L’art & La Matiere collection too but the new prices are eye watering following their revamp/relaunch🤞🏻.. For me Musc noble is last and 7th is patchouli ardent. I have all of them and really enjoy them except for these two.
Bois Mysterieux is one of the best fragrances in my collection... It's just wonderful!!! I've been looking to see which (from this line) is going to be the next I purchase, and it sounds like I better choose quickly!

ok i got santal royal with big expectations ... and on my skin was so disappointing i mean it first thought i was anosmic ...so i keep sparing ok at picked the peach mixed with the neroli but so mixed up never got the oud the sandal wood or woods in general just a huge rose ..... i mean on my skin was so rose based i felt like epitaph .... if you ar orthodox you know what i mean .....and so muscular too rather fem like ...as much as i could smell anyway ....so .... i try layer it with ... voice of the snake ....first the voice of the snake and the over santal royal ...and there it was ... it was amazing combo try it
Bois Mysteriaux has been my signature since 2013, When it was known as songe d'un bois d'ete. I though it went away permanently, only to find out it was reborn with a different name...

P.S Ambre Eternal is, on most days my favorite for all the reasons you described ❤ the animalic twang in it, but BM is also a favorite.

My bottle of Encens Mythique came from the trio in the rectangular bottle.
From what I understand, alcohol has been used more within the past couple of years on disinfecting products ie hand sanitizer, wipes and so on. I think there is a shortage of alcohol in perfumery due to the pandemic. Possible…but not 100% certain

I've always enjoyed collecting Guerlains and I really love these bottles but its hard to stay interested with that price hike! I feel like there are better options out there. Tom Ford Private blends have been creeping up in price in the one department store in my city that sells them. Welp I haven't checked Chanel but I had planned on getting a bottle of Coromandel for my birthday, maybe I shouldn't have waited!
The prices are between 115-130 Euro for a 125 ml bottle on Notino.
The first time I smelled Santal Royal my mind went straight to Chanel Egoiste has anyone picked up on that?
I can see this!! But I get more Egoiste from Santal Noir from Dior than Santal Royal from Guerlain. :)
For 260 I can grab a purfums de marly, or an Amouage on discounters..which I think are a bit better

Cuir Intense for me it is one of the best leather fragance I have EVER smell. It is so complex, provocative, animalic, rebel in a bottle !! It screams power. It is magnificent and last easily a week in clothes. If we compare to Tom Ford Ombre Leather(which is weaker),TF will be an exact replica of a fresh new car as for Cuir Intense,it will be *Intense* and artistic. 10/10

Just picked up from jomashop for 140$ ish the patchouli ardent
To me Santal Royal goes in the same direction as Armani’s Rose D’Arabie and Louis Vuitton Les Sables Roses. If I wanna feel sexy and a bit yummy I go for the Armani o e, if I wanna feel sexy and misterious I go for the LV one, and if I wanna feel just misterious, a bit detached and boss woman like, I spray on Santal Royal and I’m pretty sure anyone that can smell me gets the idea ☺️
I have a 75 ml bottle of Santal Royal. I am not that happy with it. To mine opinion the rose is to prominent in the blend. I don’t smell a nice warm creamy sandalwood. The performance is very good. On clothes it lasts for days. But the frag is not a winner for me. Lovely bottle though. Nice to have one in the collection. (Did I hear the rumor Thierry Wasser is no longer the Guerlain head perfumer?).
Have you compared it to MFK oud satin mood by chance?

@@storkonstage I'll let you know. I have MFK Oud Satin Mood on the way, but have never tried Santal Royal. I heard Santal Royal has a leather note which I'm not a huge fan of, and OSM is more gourmand.

I own them all except Patchouli Ardent, which I have not sampled. I think I’ll pick it up tomorrow.
I remember reading that Wasser sourced a real chunk of ambergris for Ambre Mystérieux. Maybe they ran off of the tincture and that’s why it was limited? More realistically, I think it just wasn’t popular and I can see why. But again, Cuir Intense is still selling…
Got my Patchouli Ardent yesterday and I like it better than I expected. The rose and fig mix very cleanly with the patchouli.
I also saw that elusive 200ml of Santal Royal in the shop, though I’ve only seen the box and not what the bottle looks like. That confirms that it’s their best seller from the line.
Wow major price hike indeed. I believe it's because of the global inflation that's happening. Some basic manufacturers as well as major transportation are facing increased costs, and pushing out higher prices, and that is trickling down into all industries worldwide apparently.
Bois Mysterieux is wonderful! I do pick the cumin as well, and in general cumin is challenging for me. But there are two great exceptions: Memo Paris African Leather, and Guerlain's Bois Mysterieux. Both of these fragrances are so magnetic and intriguing, and I believe that touch of cumin within their respective profiles in fact helps them be so.

Inflation is not at 30%. Thats just looking for more profit. Inflation is closer to 5% overall which is still quite high for the US.
I am very surprised by these prices, I actually thought entire line is getting duscontinued because I was able just recently to buy them half price from an online shop in Germany. I dont think they are popular frags, I wouldnt call any of the three I selected crowd pleasers.

Oud Essentiel is out of the list, because I think it's quite similar in vibe to BM. I like it, but I just like BM better, and end up getting BM.
Musc Noble is simply too feminine for me, but I think it's pretty impressive. Might get it for my girlfriend.

I'm very predictable when it comes to this collection - it is indeed too masculine for my taste. Musc Noble is the only one that I find palatable - not so much so as to pay the extra 60 bucks though, insane!
