This movie suffered from a lack of Christopher Franke's music, and the effects scenes were WAY too dark. You can barely see what's happening. On the plus side, it's always nice to see so many Omega class destroyers in action, though this would have been a great opportunity for them to use those gigaton mine launchers they carry in the bow section. :)
@Paul Mathews Last Olympus corvette You can see in "Sleeping in light" episode, when Sheridan died. In Closing B5 Ceremony it near B5 with Hyperion class and other ships.
I liked the touch that Lochley was able to convince the Earth president to scramble so many ships - something Sheridan couldn't have done under the circumstances.
I always liked the escape from the Death Cloud scene. One wouldn't think the Omega's could move that fast. Clearly, their captains along with the Warlock captains were all familiar with the, "Getting the hell out of here maneuver."
I suspect every ship was redlining its engines at that point. I mean yeah it'll be bad for the health of the engines, but in this circumstance, that really isn't going to matter if they get stuck inside the death cloud.
@@kyrozudesoya1829 Aye. Without drag, in space if you keep burning the engines, you just keep accelerating. Theoretically you could burn up to the speed of light. The only thing holding you back is the number of G's your putting on the space frame... But more importantly, the people inside the spaceframe.
@@driftbandit4740jms said he wanted something more atonal along the lines of The Matrix and a new visual style. Both could have been pulled off except the budget per episode was less than B5 Season 5, and there's no way you're pulling off that kind of soundtrack with 1990's synths. I've heard some of Evan Chen's concert work and was impressive, but he had no experience and no budget to pull off something like this.
Such a shame that the spin-off wasn't given Much of a chance to get a better following ,and ratings. that and I would have Liked to have seen More of the Excalibur class of vessels also
"we only built two of these. One got destroyed. but also the absolute last thing the enemy did was blow up the space dock where we designed these things" I always thought that was a stupid line just to make the Excalibur unique They exist in a universe without backing up your plans or cloud storage or something lol
@2:33 if you look under the excalibur, you can see an actual Warlock Class Destroyer. Would have loved to see that baby in action, bet they didn't lose a single one.
Because jms wanted a more experimental and atonal sound to Crusade. Evan Chen's not a bad composer as I've heard some of his concert work, but he had no experience scoring a TV show and nowhere near the budget to attempt that kind of sound. No one could have done a Matrix-like score using 90's synths.
It's a shame we never found out more about the new ships before they destroyed except for these two . The power drain on primary weapons could have solved in the series by using 3 power systems, when not in use all three charge, when in use , one fires , one charges and us on standby .simple
my bet is that the power system was a Very large component of the ships. not to mention that they had to finish the ship structure before they could test the thing
@@lordfaladar6261 The power requirements was beyond Earth or Minbari technology, even the Whitestar first real test against a Battle-crab 1-on-1 showed it lacked the power requirements.
Man I was so hyped for Crusade when I heard it was coming out. The writing was such a disappointment. Still I wish they had stuck with it and given it another season to improve. Most TV shows first seasons suck.
Not true. The pilot and about half the scenes from season 1 where done on Amigas and then the switched to PC. The step up in quality is noticeable: the Amiga CGI had an ugly interlaced effect to implement motion blur.
Was a great film and battle sequence.. such a shame about the music.. maybe nothing could compare to Christopher Franke's original B5 music.. but hell everything I've heard on every scifi show since has still been better then this and Crusades music so they definitely could have done better for the spin off lol. Whenever I hear this music I think of some drugged out hippy in a garage banging paint cans and tambourines together saying "THIS is music maaaaaan" lol..
They should not have replaced C. Franke or at least find a composer with a compatible style. That music simply does not fit the show and lacks the heroic inspiration. IMHO the main theme from Crusade was the only working part of the new score.
The problem with jms is he likes to be on the bleeding edge. Sometimes it works, sometimes you get cut. With the budget available, no one would have been able to produce what he was looking for.
I have nostalgic feelings about Babylon 5 & Crusade, but whenever I find clips now one of the main things I notice is that their CGI didn't age well. 😕
This music 😢 That and the poor casting (not that the actors are bad, they just don't seem to fit their role) killed that series. I was very disappointed at the time.

Holy frak...an Olympus corvette! The ship fan in me squeals in delight.

The music in this has all the adrenaline of an ASMR video
Less. Much less. It’s like a high school video class effort, prepared by well meaning and dedicated deaf kids.
The ship was impressive, but the Soundtrack of this movie and Crusade was just a torture to listen to.

I mean realistically if the engines are powerful enough, you don't really have anything holding you back except building up momentum.

Didnt see any Warlocks..
I like too call that the rapid rabbit manouver
It’s the music this movie and the crusade series had that killed it more then anything else in my opinion.
Yep, it's anticlimatic and just atrocious
Yeah, they should have allowed Christopher Frankie to do the soundtrack for the movie and Crusade.
😢

In the RPG Supplement for this they went into a bit more detail with their plans for this series.
Actually it was the "Victory class" 😉 But you are right. An absolutely gorgeous ship.
The producers reordered the episodes so they were a confusing mess. However I'm hearing the CW might do a remake of B5 we'll see.
@@mrow7598 i have no confidence in the CW any more after the way they handeled the end of the arrowverse
@@lordfaladar6261There is no B5 without the Great Maker, and only the Great Maker would be rebooting the series.
I love those hand-shaped Shadow turrets. Each finger fired Shadow cutting beams, and then the fingers can join together and fire super cutting beams

yeah there was no reason for Victory to die. her main gun still worked so fire as after Excalibur did as he lied to Sheridan on
People often forget how important music is in a series like this, it can make or break a show, ACTA and Crusade demonstrate it so well.
@2:33 if you look under the excalibur, you can see an actual Warlock Class Destroyer.

If you haven't yet, you should watch The Lost Tales. There's a short space battle where you get to see a Warlock duking it out with some other ships.
They threw everything they had at that death cloud, only to find at the end that the Drakh had unleashed a plague on Earth.
Love it Captain Candyman
I can't for the life of me understand why they didn't retain Christopher Franke as the composer. This composer was absolutely dire.
Concur.

The spaces between each ship is too narrow.... They could colide
They packed in the ships closely too, in Starship Troopers movie. We saw how the Klendathu invasion worked out for Earth. It was a real slaughter.

IIRC, all the Babylon computer rendering was done on Amiga computers.

The Excalibur was an awesome ship, too bad The series ended and crusade didn’t last long.😢. “ this is as faster as I can go.”😊
The incidental music is horrific.
I didn't know the Omegas could haul ass like that
Forget Babylon 5 CGI remasters they need to musically rescore this whole film, it's like turd smeared over what would have been something beautiful.
In my opinion the battle was not up to the B5 standards I have come to expect. The ship should have been named the Sinclair.
I have nostalgic feelings about Babylon 5 & Crusade, but whenever I find clips now one of the main things I notice is that their CGI didn't age well. 😕
As most say, the choice of music, or whatever it is supposed to be, is the worst thing about this movie and Crusade.
Minbari ships defending Earth - the irony!
And then, The Draq Plague is dropped on Earth.
The ONLY problem with this movie is that the ost aint as good as in the series. The rest? Pure B5
0:10 space invaders lol
