Take risks, get humiliated and humbled repeatedly.
Participate in competitive arenas where excuses and delusion are unacceptable, whether that be business, sales or martial arts.
    Get comfortable being uncomfortable.

Yeah, the only thing that improves me constantly is my relationships. It's hard to initiate, but it's worth it. Thanks to you these days I'm more happy than depressed, instead of crying alone I find friends who are compassionate and understanding. I Still have struggles but nothing going to be perfect, there is always room for improvement.

I think that's pretty good advice, but from an incorrect perspective. What you are saying about power is either inaccurate, or I'm misunderstanding what you mean. As INFPs we don't care about power as in interpersonal power. We don't like playing status games, that's what the whole need for authenticity comes down to. I want to do what I want to do, expectations be damned. We tend to have very egalitarian temperament toward others. The area where we have issues with power is when it comes to power to dictate the outcome of our own lives. The power to make choices, act on said choices, and have a desirable outcome. It's more helpful to use the word responsibility instead of power. We tend to have low self-confidence and get enmired in a victim mentality. Victim mentality is the definition of abdicating personal responsibility and personal power. At the end of the video, there was a brief mention of responsibility, but responsibility should be the main point of this conversation. When you see us getting degrees and such, that's not motivated by some kind of desire for interpersonal power but rather it is a way of showing ourselves that we are actually competent to take action in the world. Proving competence and taking responsibility are the direct ways to fix the issue of low self-confidence. Once we have taken responsibility for our lives, and learned to take action, we have no need to keep building and expanding power beyond our personal lives, we have no need to control the world as long as we have our own lives in order. If we want to change the world, we would rather do it through inspiration than through power.

When the video came on, I was thinking about how valueless it was to exert any kind of authority over a group of people for the sake of having authority, unless something pushed me in that direction, of course.
I think it's more accurate to say that some INFP's, I guess, want more of an authority over their own lives instead. It's true that it's hard to trust others' motives and stuff, as in everyone we allow into our lives does get a piece of that authority over you. And that's because they are important to us.
      So it's about being careful

I must admit that when I focus too much time on what's good for just me, I get negatively overwhelmed and tasks look more like chores I'm not interested in. My happier moments come when I'm immersed in my relationships. We just need to admit that we need the "uncomfortable" help to feel better about ourselves, despite having Te inferior and being triple control/triple outcome. There were times when I screwed up in my relationships, but I felt more motivated than ever seeing beyond the pain to fix them, and myself.

Yes, that totally rang true with me. I started a business recently that I had been dreaming of since my youth. Now in my 60;s I had to prove it to myself what was in me, whether I could do it or not. I needed to see the transition of having an idea in my mind and bringing it into the physical world. Truly fascinating, challenging beyond my imagination, but totally worth every drop!

I agree with a lot of things you said about INFP, but I don't measure success by power and authority. I never really cared about those things, I just don't want to be controlled. To me, it's about how much freedom I have (including financial freedom) and affluence of time. I am pretty sure I am INFP though I've watched most of your INFP videos and can't relate to INFJ/ISFP

  • @phillconklin382

I've worked hard to not be interdependent but I think you are right about it being a natural inclination. For the most part I rely on myself, except to split rent with my roommate. I think if people were more reliable and consistent it would be easier to slip back into it. When I was going through a lot of depression I often reached out to others, but when it felt burdensome to them and they withdrew I mostly coped by myself or would just imagine people being there. Imaginary interdependence is a thing, not sure if you ever thought about that, but on the way to practical independence you can imagine people by your side even if there aren't any really there. Overall I thought it was good advice. I like how you define success meaning different things for different people. I relate to that.
