Come off it, the Scottish people were asked 8 years ago if they wanted independence and they said no. Sturgeon then immediately set about trying to get another referendum because she can't accept reality. So let's say she got her wish, the UK spent another fortune it doesn't have on another referendum and it comes back the same no answer...guess what Sturgeon will do. Yep, start organising another referendum until she gets the result SHE wants, not the people of Scotland.
Do you think this is actually about Scotland for Sturgeon? Because it's not. This is about Sturgeon wanting to be able to say she's a world leader. An ego trip. Nothing more.
Perhaps she should move to a different country.

I laugh when I hear politicians saying that the issue of independence is not important compared to the other issues Scottish people face. This is not the case. If more than half the country thinks it doesn't belong in the Union, then this is the most important issue facing Scotland.

As far as I'm concerned, Sturgeon is a seditious traitor who wants to break up the Union, Scotland has it's own laws, banks and government as well as the same monarch.
Let's not forget the SNP planned to collaborate with the Nazis during WW2 and were close to the Nazis in the 1930s.
Sturgeon must accept the 2014 result because she's behaving like an entitled spoilt brat throwing her dummy out because she did not get the result she wanted in 2014.
Look at Scotland under Sturgeon, it's become a hellhole where merely making a joke is an arrest offense.
I'm from England and I know my government are bad but Sturgeon, she's far worse than Sunak and Hunt and I pity the people of Scotland who have to live under Sturgeon's mismanagement, corruption and more authoritarian leaning government.
      The Scots deserve better.

    • @ruthhogg6423

You’re right, we do have the right to decide our own future, but where were you when we voted on this? Do you forget that the people of Scotland voted against Independence? Much was made of the “once in a lifetime” vote, yet here we are again because some people have trouble loosing. We laugh at Trump but the similarities between Trump and Sturgeon are becoming more obvious by the day.
I don’t have any nasty feelings towards people who hold different political views, but I DO have issues with people who are trying to take away MY democratic vote that was legally cast in the referendum. I don’t personally always win, but I have the maturity to understand that this is life. I wish the SNP would show a little more of the same maturity.

Because Britain is one nation, and the EU is a union of very separate and very distinct nations. It's not complicated. Rather simple, in fact.
It's like there is a whole breed of rabid scot nats that don't understand what the devolved government actually is. It didn't break up Britain in to different countries, and it was never meant to. It was meant to ensure that the things that most needed funding and attention would be addressed if national policy meant that other things were being prioritised because that's what Cornwall (say) needed. In much the same way that the mayoral system that was introduced to the UK didn't create city states. Sadly, ever since the SNP has taken power, all the really important things have suffered (things like education, social mobility, life expectancy and other metrics that detail whether a country is succeeding or not), with Scotland falling behind the rest of the UK. Probably because a one policy party has hijacked the devolved government to do something it was never intended to do, and they have little to no interest in things like improving life for their constituents.
Seriously - go look at the statistics of where Scotland ranked compared to other parts of the UK before SNP seized hold, to the years after. It's awful.

    • @josm1206
      @josm1206 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, you're ignorant. So, I'll help you.
The act of Union was willingly signed onto by the Scottish parliament in perpetuity. As your clearly not very intelligent, that means forever. No 'backsys'.
It devolved the power of state to Westminster. So, ONLY Westminster could decide on a referendum. It really was that simple and nippy knew it.
So, it was Westminster that allowed the last referendum as a once in a lifetime referendum and all the political parties signed on to that.
      The SNP lost.
Whereas, the EU had provision for exit.
      It's really that simple.

Be grateful this debate is not going down the path of an out-of-control juvenile tantrum for which law enforcement would not hold the perpetrators of violence accountable. Rule of law and democratic debate are superior to chaos and anarchy that results from the over-throw of a Constitutional democracy.
Nowadays in the USA if the radical extremist political party disagrees with you, they don't offer rational counter points. They call you a NAZI, and then have the local television news record their anonymous black-clad assassins firebombing your house for broadcast on the evening news program while they announce that they are fighting for truth and social justice against your monumental evil that is trying to kidnap their babies to eat them as a satanic ritual. The psychotic extremists take the "straw man" fallacy to the extreme for their counter point because it gets them attention in the news.
It's friggin' insanity here as leadership has recently taken a long vacation at one of their many beach-front, gated mansions made possible by the "modest" compensation of public servants which they suddenly acquired after taking public office (note: extremists have never held a real job in the private sector). We can't even take the problem to the FBI as they have now assumed the role of the NKVD by pursuing political opponents with false accusations, a bag full of fabricated evidence, and Stalinist zeal.
Look on the bright side and count your blessings. Then come out fighting for adult democratic debate above all political issues.

@@DaBIONICLEFan the courts upholding laws is fantastic. Its the laws that need to change. Many people over history have lived under opression by law. Lawfully genocided, Lawfully lobotimised. The law is not a nuetral code. It is not decided what the law should be neutrally. And just becuse the law is the way it is, doesn't mean it should stay that way.
If the courts had found in favor of the proposition that holyrood could have an advisory referendum then a referendum wouldnt have been lawful. Since they ruled that an advisory referndum would not be lawful the SNP aren't doing it. Its not the ruling that prevented an illegal referendum, it was the SNP'd desire to abide by the law that prevented an illigal referendum.
Just a note: Legitamancy and legality are not one and the same.
The blocking of a referendum by westminster is legal becuse it is codified. Its not however legitamate if we hold the first principle of democracy higher and believe in iy more than a particular constitutional arrangement.

Scotland is limited to what it can do with the block grant given to it. Fighting over scraps falling off the table is not viable for Scotland any more.

Wheres the share of the 350m that we were told could go to NHS by leaving the EU. Oh that was a lie wasnt it. A lie that swayed many but yet in Scotland we unilatterally saw the benefit of the EU. Unlike the union, the benefit of staying is counter productive to Scotlands ambitions
